I hope you had the cat tucked away in another room while you were painting. I was painting my livingroom and turned around to find my cat sitting in the paint tray! I totally freaked out and the cat ran around the room, making a complete mess. I'm totally reliving that seeing you paint and the cat right there.
@ashley marie -- Ya, that was over 30 years ago. I can finally laugh at it now, but I do remember spending the afternoon bathing the cat and removing off-white paint from a beige carpet. All I could think of while watching Drew's video was, "Lock up the cat!!!"
My dog did that to me when I was painting my bedroom. . He left paw prints all over the duvet and rug. I couldn't save either one so I have a gray duvet with white paw prints. I actually like it.
Also because paint fumes are crazy toxic to animals! I would be SO stressed if one of my cats had their entire butt in a paint tray! It must've taken forever to get off of them!
For future reference when you have dark paint colors like that some brands will sell a tinted primer to apply before the color so it doesn’t take as many coats!
I have seen all your videos multiple times, but this makeover was the best. I loved the colors. You are going a great job and appealing to a large demographic. I love your DIYs I am 64 years young and live in a custom built tiny house on an acre in the forest of Oregon. I have three grown daughters and 5 grandchildren including a 21 year old granddaughter. I have told them all to watch your channel.
Would love to see another collaboration with you and XO MaCenna. I suggested to her that you take an idea from the Sorry Girls and go to the IKEA as is section, and chose something from there only for a good up cycle. Thanks again for another great video.
Or maybe adopt a kitty! Cats are amazing, I've adopted all of mine, they played around a lot as kittens and now as adults they lay down everywhere 😂 (you gotta pay attention to not step on one of the furry babies). Make sure you research about cats before bringing one home! I recommend Jackson Galaxy's youtube channel. And cats are rly pretty, they're basically helping the ambient look more beautiful just by existing. Also they're so smart and comforting, just respect their space and give them love and you'll have an amazing lil friend who gives great cuddles.

I work in paint! Night Watch was the 2019 color of the year. I would, however, recommend diamond or timeless paint if using PPG/Glidden. If you're using Behr, Ultra (2 coat) or Marquee (from the collection is one coat) hope this helps :) I love your videos (I'm new here haha)

Painter's tip, Foxy: you can buy a clip-on spout for your can at the paint store. That way your paint can won't look like it's possessed by Pazuzu. :-)
I always live on the edge when it comes to paint haha! Plus it was a tiled space and i knew any spots could be easy scraped off. If it was carpet then i would have 100% tarped!

Just a couple painting tips from a family who works in the trades: When using a dark color ask the paint store to tint your primer as dark as possible or paint the wall black if a tinted primer isn't an option, yes, you read that right, black. lol Tip #2: press a tiny bead of paintable caulk along the seam between the tape and the wall. It creates a perfect line every single time. Love all your remodels and DIYs! Cheers! From a homegrown girl in SF. Keep up the amazing work!!!

This is a stunning makeover. I love the color of the wall paint you used. Easy clean up hint for your paint tray - cover it with a plastic grocery bag before pouring in your paint. Love this dark green and timber vibe! Two ways to get a better paint job is cutting in before rolling, and getting a pole extender to screw into your roller handle, that way you can get nice long rolls to minimise visible lines
Enjoyed a lot! Fwi it helps to make large spread out W’s when painting so it looks less patchy..think it helps coverage too so should be less coats. Feels counterintuitive but promise it helps
Hey Drew, try using a dark grey undercoat when using deep rich colours like this, grey works really well under colours such as red, green, navy, it's annoying to paint an undercoat, but generally you only will need one coat on top, sometimes too, but the undercoat is cheaper and you will get a better colour pay off in the end :)

My place is a one bedroom. That living space is too small. Your videos are helping me make the most of my small space. I love Article furniture. I play Design Home which is a decorating game that uses actual furniture that you can buy and I always seem to choose article pieces.
pro paint tips: get yourself an attachable pour spout for the can so that it leaves the can completely clean also whenever you’re painting anything darker than a midtone, use a tinted primer first!! that wall would’ve been easier, more even looking, and richer colored with a medium grey primer first!!

I just wanted to give you a tip for painting because it saved me so much time this summer, with the paint rollers instead of starting in the center and rolling in different directions it’s much faster to start from the edge of the wall and roll up and down in vertical lines!:) it helped me save so much paint and time and I hope it helps you!
