The Ra.. The master of music that came from the cosmos like no other to teach us all.. and to have fun while experiencing it. Respect to the Arkestra
Great Description of Sun Ra and His Music
Being a Sun Ra fan for many years, this album has escaped my radar until tonight… joyful noise, indeed😎
Sun Ra makes it all right, especially at night 🥃
The great William "Bugs" Cochran - a true Chicago treasure!
one of the greatest albums ever hands down
Yeah especially from the 60s he was a head of his time
I agree
agree
One of the greatest albums ever recorded! Sun Ra IS THE MAN!
I thought Sun Ra was an alien
I've been getting more into Sun ra recently, perhaps a lot later than i should.. It's mad how different, alien, familiar and similar to stuff i thought i didn't have time for now seems deeply relevant and necessary..
I do love this album. I borrowed it from a library. I came to Sun Ra through Shpongle that sampled his work, particularly "space is the place". When I was last in the mood for this it wasn't uploaded in the form of one discrete album. I am joyful this has been repaired. I look forward to reading the annotations here in future . But first, sleep...
It's a compilation.
@@ryanbumgarner6388 no it's not; it was his second album för the the Transition label; unfortunately, the label folded before this album came out and it didn't see full release until the late 60s when Chicago label Delmark purchased the Transition catalog. In the meantime, Sun Ra had either re-recorded *or* put these songs out as they were on various albums on his Saturn label which might lead one to believe this is a comp; it's not though-it's his "proper" second album...
Sun Ra left Miles and the rest in the dust. I love those guys too
He really did, i will never understand why him and Ayler don't get more respect.
This album was originally recorded in 1958, but Delmark went bust. It was issued a decade later. Sun Ra was so far ahead of his time, that he left it completely.
No Parliament, Primal Scream, or Iggy Pop without him.
woohooooo...yesss. pure magic ❤❤❤
still love his music!!
I liked played this music with my old band!!!
7:27 The theme/head on Two Tones is out of this world. Subtly weird intervals and timing, almost Monk-like.
& Paradise 11:08 is absolutely gorgeous - like Chopin & Debussy playing jazz in a funky African groove.
beautiful
Yes!
NICE -captured my full listening attention and my heart's admiration. So Mellow.!! Thank You Sincerely
Thank you.
Oh meravigliosoooo!!!!!!
nice
grazie stupendo

What kind of music would Zappa and Sun Ra have made?
Sunny Ray and his Musical Myth Gay Appliance Prostitution Ring
I don’t think they would have, just my opinion.
Sun Ra was beyond all novel, popular offerings.
overtones of china
I've been trying to track down an old recording I used to listen to - please help. It's a composit of the Star Sapngled Banner and Deutchland Uber Alles. Anyone?
SECURE AND CONTAIN
why is the last song slowed?
Yeah--WTF? Maybe someone didn't realize that these "bonus" unissued vinyls should be played at a different RPM. It sounds better at 1.5 speed on CZcams.
it really is
it swings hard tho
I don't really like it when labels decide to ruin albums with extra tracks. The worst ever example of this for me was when Sonic Youth put Bubblegum on the end of Evol. It's meant to end with a locked groove of wailing guitars, but it ends with a pop song. Just terrible.
Got this today for you. Yes everyone
