- With the regular season’s end fast approaching, the Golden State Warriors might have found the missing piece that could turn things around for them this season in Gary Payton II.
I mean…..the Warriors are just horrible when it comes to playing defense this year as they give up 115 points a ball game.
Now..when comparing it to last season, the Dubs were actually ranked number 1 with a 106.9 defensive rating..and a huge part of it can be credited to GP2’s defensive efforts. Inside Defenders: Dray, Looney, Kuminga and JMG
Perimeter Defenders: GP2, DDV, Wiggins and Kuminga
Paint attackers/post up: GP2, JK, Wigs, Looney, Dray, JMG, and PBJ
Rebounders: Dray, Looney, Wigs, GP2.

Based on the plays which the Warriors have played, JP2 truly has played amazingly. As a good defender, he has always been an instrument in GS wins over their opponents. His leaping ability and offense helped out the team's wins. Hence, his come back would somehow improve the chance of the Warriors for playoff and possibly the NBA champion again. Keep up the good work JP2! I am one of your avid fans because of how you played.

If you think an injured, aging GP2 is the key to this season's success than yall are just in denial. The Warriors are mediocre at best. And a 6'2 guard won't be the piece that gets them over the hump. This isn't a broken elbow. It's a brutal injury that takes quite a long time to heal. We will not be getting GP2 of last season like you're showing in the clips.

If Andrew Wiggins comes back they can win again but without him they may make it out of the west but they won't win a championship
He won't be playing again until about three months, so the answer is no... The Dubs need a lot more than GPII with the way they've been playing this season. The Draymond/Jordan Poole incident put a dark cloud over the team they never recovered from
The absolute worst move the Warriors made last season was in trading GPII. PERIOD!
He simply brought far too much raw positives to the table compared to any trade they made before or since. And yes, that includes the trade for Kevin Durant. We can argue this point, but pound for pound, and height for height, Kevin Durant pales in comparison to GPII. Not only that, but you can’t teach defense, and GPII was a defensive monster throughout his career. Even his dad understood this and passed on his legacy to junior.
That said, I will even go as far as to say that my Warriors do NOT win the title without GPII.
This is because GPII plugs so many holes in the Warriors offense AND defense. Gary is also the type of athlete that confuses opponents. Nikola Jokić understands this better than anyone.
Lastly, people who “think” they know basketball and even the so-called experts underestimated GPII last season. The other teams underestimated him as well. This is the reason why he picked their collective pockets and postered the hell out of those teams DURING THE TITLE RUN.
So okay, all you people who THINK you know basketball and who are still underestimating GPII. Think on this…
When the win is on the line and GPII is guarding your best player, think of last year’s Ja Morant, Nikola Jokić, Desmond Bane, and the Celtics who actually tried their best to destroy Gary’s career.
If this dynamic player wasn’t so crucial to the Warrior’s success, then why in the hell did the Warriors pass up on so many other players to get him back?

This team will most likely be lucky to scrap into the play-in let alone make a deep playoff run. This is not last years team at all. The core are older and simply don't care and aren't as motivated. The team defense is woefully bad and the offense is so reliant on the 3 ball they make you think you are watching The Rockets from a few years ago.
The entire team is divided. Joehas his agenda, the players and Kerr still think they can contend and Bob is stuck in the middle and is probably gone by the end of the season. Even a fully healthy GP2 isn't going to solve their team wide issues on both ends.
Sad to say as a fan but it's time to hit the reset button, this two timeline delusion will only lead to a few more seasons of what we have gotten this year a .500 team with no real chance of doing anything. I just hope they come out of this season having clearly chosen a direction. Either go all in to contend now and sell the future or fully commit to a rebuild from the ground up.
