You would have to pay these fines on your own. To be considered for enlistment, you would need to be free and clear of any pending cases and the recruiter would have to look into your background check to verify that you would not require a waiver for enlistment depending on what comes back on your background check.
website says 34 but I'd bet that age-based waivers are a thing -- I'm going back into school for a career change (went to University for English -- thought I'd be a teacher but went a different route -- moved back to my home area and there's no jobs for videographers so I'm going to go back for a trade)... I'd love to join the guard after I'm done with this program and it would be cool as hell to try for 18x through the Massachusetts 20th group -- but I'm going to have to talk to recruiters because it sounds like if you fail, you are automatically sent to infantry (which isn't something I'm afraid of, but I'd rather go into another in-demand MOS that is relevant to the trade I'll be studying -- electrician + automation technology -- they have a ton of electronics repair and operator based MOS's that are in-demand). Won't know more til I talk to someone and it sounds like I should hunt down someone from that 20th group specifically before talking to a more general recruiter.
When I did the SFRE tryouts, we had a few guys in their late 30s. The thing is, you have to have something to offer at the age -- being very athletic and possessing some good civilian "skills" are important. Age waivers exist as long as you have a quality that can help the team. Since you're only 27/28, don't worry about it.
I would make sure you get your law enforcement career up and going first, then join the National Guard, stay in great shape, and finally attend a SFRE.
Question? 43 years old, tried to join Army reserve told them my back aches from driving trucks but goes away. They never got back with me. What's my chance of getting into the National Guard. I'm also prior service USMC.
@@RaulRodriguez-lu4mw For Army reserve or National Guard, I have till the age of 44. Onlu holding back from the Army is waiting for Medical to come back with a decision.
I know you subtract the years you served in the Marines from your age, including Inactive Reserve. I'm 36 and haven't been on active duty since 2004 and am in process of joining now. With the back I wouldn't tell MEPS a thing about it. Are you going in for the same MOS you had in the Marines?
They said they can't find the equivalent of my mos in the Army. But most likely I'll be on the air wing side of the Army. 6046 Aviation Maintenance admin. But your right, never should of told them about back.
I would recommend finding the unit you want to join and talk to the recruiter at their armory and not mentioning anything about your back to anyone. As far as age goes for prior service in the guard, as long as you would be able to retire by the time you're 60 and have 20 years of service, you should be able to get into a guard unit, but the recruiter would know for sure.
Please, will you f****** guys wanna be this and that s? F? Ranger froze all on me. That's what you go under then you go National Guard, whatever infantry f****** ranger. All that you guys gotta do your f****** homework. Bro for real?
There’s a map on the website but I’d bet you’re traveling a few hours at best. FYI these guys don’t train only one weekend a month, my coworker is NG SF and he is gone usually a week a month plus his deployments are about a year long every 3 years (work up and deployment)
Hint: Get into shape. It is physically impossible to push yourself through the entire SFRE and pass without being in shape. If you try you may get rhabdomyolysis, and that's on you.
I somehow skipped this stuff, went in totally out of shape at 34 and struggled my ass off. But I trained hard and smart, DS's at OSUT and Cadre liked me bc I busted ass doing everything and got into great shape. However, I tore up my body [mostly legs] bc started using them so hard and carrying so much weight they couldn't adapt fast enough [long story cut short] which made it way more difficult than if I went in prepared. I was given bad advice long before I shipped out about it. But it is def survivable and completable, just NEVER QUIT as its plastered everywhere, I sure didnt.
No. The Marine was either out or in the process of joining the Army National Guard to try out for Special Forces. You can't be an active Marine and go Army Special Forces.
I don't get this. The UK has removed the SF status from reserve units (it was historical). The reserve units could never match the training, readiness of regular units. How honestly can these guys, no matter the commitment, match regular SF units? Can not happen. They are dedicaded and the line units want them, still tough, tougher in some instances, achievable and adds value!
The UK military is small compared to the US. The US saves some money by having reserve units. Also, the vast majority of 19th and 20th Special Forces Groups were prior active duty Special Forces Soldiers so the experience is there. There are actually benefits to this for example a Special Forces medic working as an ER nurse or paramedic. They get the best from both military and civilian worlds.
Lots of these guys are prior/current service. When I was at reception for my basic training there were marines there who switched over to try to become green berets; look up the 18x contract
@@FrAnC3sCoN123 Those Marines could go to SFAS on a one year "Try it" contract. If they wash out of SFAS they drill for a year and can leave the Guard. If they pass SFAS, they sign a new 5-year contract to attend the Q course.
In addition to what others have said about Marine Corps programs allowing Marines to enter into Guard SF pipeline some might also be SARC Corpsman Trainees. Keep in mind SARC Corpsman now as a part of their pipeline attend and graduate the entire 18D course so they are in effect both SARCS and Green

There are detachments in RI and PA. However, if you're not stuck on Special Forces, there is an Air Force NG Pararescue Jumpers (PJ) unit in Long Island, NY.
Where ever you want. I drilled in MS with 2nd Bn 20th Group and lived in Houston Texas. We had guys who flew in from California. Not sure why they had 19th Group out there and that was where he went eventually.

At least on the Guard side of things, their SFRE tryouts are, in principle, open to any branch. Obviously, the personnel in the other branches may have recently transitioned (or will transfer to) the Army National Guard. For example, when I participated in the SFRE for the 19th Group in California, we had a Captain from the Air Force PJs (ret) in his uniform, and a Recon Marine with his garb, both trying out alongside the rest of us reservists. There were also two civilians seeing if they can make it. To add to the bunch were a handful of active duty hopefuls, from a Ranger to a guy from the 82 Airborne. There were different branches represented, backgrounds, and age groups, all the way up to late 30s. The philosophy of open-mindedness that the 19th (and I'm assuming the 20th) SF cadre possessed in choosing whom to allow at the tryouts was definitely a virtue, and reflects their standards of cross-disciplinary expertise and maturity above the young and ignorant.
Hey buddy, do yourself a favor, don't join the military hoping to go CAG. No matter what you do, you will never be able to put in a packet an choose to go CAG, they have to recruit you. Join in, be the best soldier you can be, maybe they'll see you

What do I do to join the team
Call a army Recruiter and ask if they have a 18x contract
Under the Marine to Guard ( M2G) Program, Active Duty Marines, about to EAS , attend SFAS, and then, upon successful completion, attend SFQC , and then , Post - Graduation, earn The SPECIAL FORCES Long Tab and Green Beret, and serve either with 19th SFG( A) or 20th SFG( A) in the Army National Guard ( ARNG). MARINE TO GUARD meets DE OPPRESSO LIBER SUPERINTENSIFIED!!🇺🇲🇺🇸🪂🤿🪖💣💥🔥🇺🇲🇺🇸
I saw some in Marine uniforms... ??? But this is a NG SFAS assessment...
Ha all my scores on the asvab were all 110 except gt and math witch were 111 and 113
Nate Williams spelling obviously must not have been high 😂jk tho. Congrats
Why are they wearing MARPAT and jungle multicam?
York county Hanover pa. Owe about 1500$ is fines. .help me out?
You would have to pay these fines on your own. To be considered for enlistment, you would need to be free and clear of any pending cases and the recruiter would have to look into your background check to verify that you would not require a waiver for enlistment depending on what comes back on your background check.
Why are Marines there and what Marines are aloud to do this? Are they reserves doing some type of joint training or something?
What is the age limit I’m 27 about to join the police academy and in a year wanting to join the national guard SF
website says 34 but I'd bet that age-based waivers are a thing -- I'm going back into school for a career change (went to University for English -- thought I'd be a teacher but went a different route -- moved back to my home area and there's no jobs for videographers so I'm going to go back for a trade)...
There’s a Marine in this class. Interesting.
Question? 43 years old, tried to join Army reserve told them my back aches from driving trucks but goes away. They never got back with me. What's my chance of getting into the National Guard. I'm also prior service USMC.
I don’t think you can join the military unless you’re 35 years or younger but I might be wrong
Do yall also offer the chance to be Ranger qualified?
Please, will you f****** guys wanna be this and that s? F? Ranger froze all on me. That's what you go under then you go National Guard, whatever infantry f****** ranger. All that you guys gotta do your f****** homework. Bro for real?
Gt 107 now homie
if you join the special forces in the army national guard will you be based in your home state?
Depends on the state
There’s a map on the website but I’d bet you’re traveling a few hours at best. FYI these guys don’t train only one weekend a month, my coworker is NG SF and he is gone usually a week a month plus his deployments are about a year long every 3 years (work up and deployment)
wait, how are there marines in selection?
No. This is to prepare for selection. A Marine cannot attend SFAS until he joins the Army or Army National Guard.
Is this all active or reserve?
Guard
Maybe I've underestimated these men...
What if you’re just barely in shape but you’re willing to drive yourself through it all and do everything?
Not in the military but my friends said try 18X. They prep you for the SFAS plenty. If you have the mentality, you can do it.
Running forever is my weak spot.
🙏🙏🙏😓❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
They had a marine in this video. Can you be a army sf while being a marine?
I wonder why there's two Marines in selection
Lots of these guys are prior/current service. When I was at reception for my basic training there were marines there who switched over to try to become green berets; look up the 18x contract
called Marine to Guard program they have the option to do SFRE
@@FrAnC3sCoN123
Those Marines could go to SFAS on a one year "Try it" contract. If they wash out of SFAS they drill for a year and can leave the Guard. If they pass SFAS, they sign a new
5-year contract to attend the Q course.
SARCs now attend the complete 18D course so if they chose to go to SF they would technically already be qualified.
Anyone know if NY has a SF unit
We can get you in contact with the local National Guard recruiter within your area who could assist you with finding out what SF units are available within your state! You are welcome to speak to us through our one on one chat at bit.ly/1POiDm6 and we will get you taken care of!
There are detachments in RI and PA. However, if you're not stuck on Special Forces, there is an Air Force NG Pararescue Jumpers (PJ) unit in Long Island, NY.
Lol I love how the national guard youtube channel responded so fast when someone seems sorta interested in joining 🤣
Only Alabama and Utah, although I think Alabama’s has detachments in other states.
No. The closest is Boston, Massachusetts. The Air Force does have Pararescue assign to NY units and so does TACP
I had a 98 ASVAB and was told I could do anything I wanted... clearly not, lol
Where do you live if you're SF NG?
at home
Where ever you want. I drilled in MS with 2nd Bn 20th Group and lived in Houston Texas. We had guys who flew in from California. Not sure why they had 19th Group out there and that was where he went eventually.

Recon is not SF Completely different mission dont let the National Guard thing mislead you they meet and exceed the same expectations of active duty SF. They actually were among the first troops deployed to Afghanistan in the beginning right along with active duty units. For one there is a huge acidemic portion of the Q Course( most of it) They also have to learn a language witch takes passing both DLAB and DLPT at the end.
Because Recon don't go through language training. To be a Special Forces Soldier, you have to pass foreign language training.

I hate active duty and ex active duty putting down the guard....I worked with a retired Marine that called it the "Nasty Guard".....I served in 7 guard units and all had at least 50 percent prior active duty....I should have told that ex jar head he was full of shit, but did not need to get into that kind of drama at work...
Why is there marines in that program?
Were those Marines.... can Marines try out for the berets?
Its the Marines of the army
