I cry every time I hear this song, especially when the choir gets really loud. It reminds me of the many sacrifices and those who paid the ultimate price so we could be free today. Sadly, many in our generation are forgetting about this, and many are promoting ideals that limit our freedoms. We need to reverse this to "earn it" just like was said in the movie. Freedom is always one generation away from extinction and we need to do everything we can to make sure we are not that generation that kills off freedom.
In memory of Edna Rhodes, 2nd Lt. U.S. Army Nurse Corps, d. 2017, and Private Clyde Rhodes, U.S. Army, 2nd Inf Div, d. 1995... May they rest in peace, and watch over their descendants.
This movie makes me think of my grandfather. Though he didn't fight in WWII, he fought over Korea and we love him and miss him very much. Rest in peace, Burton Walter Barnett (1934-1992) MMFA aboard the USS Domato DD-871. Sale on, grandpa. Sale on.
RossMonsterMedia As a South Korean citizen who is living this peaceful time, I would like to show you my greatest gratitude to your grandfather. May he rest in peace.
Unless you have served and been in that position, I wouldn't call anyone a coward. No one knows how they will react, no matter how much training you have had when you come face to face with the elephant.
None of us know how we would behave on a battlefield, attack or lie down and cry for dear life. Either way if you found yourself on that battlefield then you paid brother and to those that were brave I reserve the title of hero. Thank you veterans!
simon You're right, because I know the axis powers are always looked at as being evil, when it all comes down to it, they were just kids fighting for their country. Yes Hitler was an evil man but not all of the soldiers in his army were evil
Really is sad when you find out some soldiers joined the Nazis just to save their own life. Then they're looked upon as evil or heartless when they fought for their country just as we did. Rest In Peace to all soldiers, good, the bad, the brave, and startled.
I'm proudly will remeber my Grandfather who served in the Navy during World War II. He passed away last month (April 6, 1918-September 14, 2019). He served bravery and an ultimate sacrafice to serve his country... Thank him for his service and the other fallen brothers who fought against tyranny and oppression.
This movie tells the story of all the young men ( and women) who were willing to sacrifice their lives for others. I start thinking about my dad. I look at your military picture ( over in Germany member of the Red Ball Express) you were 19 yrs young I can't help but question what you saw and how your felt Thank you daddy for your willingness to serve. I miss you everyday. 💗
Professionalism, duty, Honor, Country. God. Brothers AND sisters all under His watchful and ever present eye. No one is left behind. No one goes before the Father before passing in review of the Lord. There's a lot that could be said on this and many like subjects. Most of what could be said is left unspoken, for we all know and understand in situations like these, any man or woman would do what is right and bearing in mind no consequences for the action. Gardens of Stone. Each marker is a person, a human being , who spent a short time on this earth with us. So long as each loss is kept alive by the memory of that surviving family member, friend, distant relative, that person is never truly gone. From a veteran to each and every veteran and non veteran whose eyes fall on these words, your presence is felt and the impact is huge.Lest we forget...
I can't even imagine what went through the minds of the soldiers on that day on Omaha Beach. I often wonder if the young men of today would have the courage or understanding to do what needed to be done. I am endlessly thankful for the ones that fought and gave their lives so that we could be free. Can't watch the movie without tears at most parts. It's amazing what this music makes you remember from the movie.
When i hear this I think of my grandpa who served in vietnam in the air force he unfortunately passed couple years ago and my uncle who is alive today he served in desert storm as a tank commander🇺🇸🇺🇸
The story is loosely based on real events. A soldier (not named Ryan) did lose all of his brothers, but an Army chaplain was charged with finding him and bringing him home, which he succeeded in doing. That is the general story, at least from my research. Obviously not as dramatic as the events portrayed in the film.
Seen (many times)and surely do respect this movie. This soundtrack is beyond compare. May these sights and sounds last forever so as to keep history alive. TSG (ret) GP "frenchy",Marquis, 400th mms(t). USAF.
My grandfather served in Korea, he drove trucks carrying supplies. He had to do it at night without lights as a way to avoid getting shot at. I'll never forget the stories he told me. Miss you grandpa Don "King Tut" 1929 ~ 2013
So porwerful and solemn notes of respect and admiration to all our service men and women ..my unconditional respecto to all my beloved veterans and active young soldier and general and sadly for those that are gone but never forgoten in our memories .😔😔😔😔
To ALL MY FORE FATHERS of WWII who stood up against Tyranny. We would not be able to enjoy our freedoms without your ULTIMATE sacrifice. I can never repay you, I can only try to repay the debt and be a better man because of YOU Gods of Men. I kiss your rested souls and I never take for granted for what you did for me 45 years before I was born. You MEN MADE ME A FREE MAN TODAY. I AM FOREVER IN YOUR DEBT! I....WILL..... EARN......IT.....
I'm writing a war novel from the persecutive of a man's war journal. As i write i play this soundtrack, it gives the respect the men and women who lost there lives to war. I hope that one day people will read what i've written and realize the chaos of war.
that guy was in lost? I thought he was a coward to at first, but when I read about the movie, I read that he wasn't trained for war, just a translator. At the end, he turned out pretty brave. And the sniper guy is my favorite too, along with the medic guy. :p
He wasn’t brave at all. He watched his friend die and when the German showed up he could have shot him but he just let him go. Then he decided to kill the other German only when he surrendered. The definition of a pussy
@@pickledpeckers7789 He was only a translater. He had no training for combat whatsoever. How would you feel if you were to be in combat without any training?
Cheezyballz Productionz no I don’t trust you, and of course I would be scared but I wouldn’t be shit my pants scared. I f I had a chance to save my friend you better believe I’m gonna take it not just pout and watch him die.
While he technically was not trained for combat, he is a soldier. He went through basic training. That would be about the equivalent of what many of the men landing on Omaha beach would have had, (the 29th ID being a National Guard unit after all).
John Williams is exactly to movie scores what Michael Jordan was is to basketball. They are both not only the greatest ever to do what they do but their work is synonymous with excellence. You cannot name anyone unanimously better than them at their respective crafts. You can try to argue it, but...Really?

Me to and also Mansions in the Sky. I served 30 and both are very moving to me.
yes this is the best thing ive seen somebody put in years
When James Ryan returned to the graves as an old man was a great scene! It really got me when he started crying and then saluted the grave.

Gives me old Call of duty vibes. Great piece.
I ask myself, 'Would I lay my life upon the altar of freedom.'
Any fucking day
The real freedom is of the soul, the which only God gives us through Jesus Christ amen
The absolute best track John Williams ever composed. I know that may be controversial considering his catalogue of works, but its just beautiful
The Best song ever sung by man period.
John Williams is at least one of the best.

No other movie comes close to this one. I tear up every time when this movie ends. The most powerful ending to a movie ever.
John Williams is credited so much for _Star Wars_ and _Indiana Jones_ that sometimes I forget he scored such depressing stuff as this.
This war will never be forgotten

This scene made me cry while watching the movie.
I like how Tom Hanks's name is above the title.
because he was the main role
Yeah he’s basically the star of the movie
