      I still own my two Hummers..(H1 and a H2 and 2 Jeeps..)
      there's plenty of newer 250-350 fords & Rams that are harder on gas than my H2...matter of fact since I own the Jeep Liberty (wife's jeep) and a Jeep Rubicon.. I can tell you the jeeps are just as hard on the gas ..
      I Will never sell my Hummers they are the most dependable vehicles I've owned..and being up here in HudsonBay 🇨🇦area I know a thing or two about getting stranded..nearest town is 200km away combine that with -39c cold & 8feet of fresh snow if I get stranded it could mean freezing to death(if the bears or wolves don't get me first)
      Don't listen to people who call Hummers the most hated vehicles, they are not using them as they were intended to be used...
      Cheers from Winisk,HudsonBay ,Ontario 🇨🇦

    I'm up in Northern 🇨🇦..
    We got another 8 feet of new snow since last week ..and little on the cold side -39c (that's -35F) for U yanks..
    I own 2 hummers and 2 jeeps(H2 and a H1 ,Jeep Rubicon and a Jeep Liberty)
    Not sure if your aware the Hummer H2 has permanent 4 wheel drive..it's always on,can't turn it off ..
    unlike the raptor and my Jeeps where u have to engage it into 4 wheel drive ...
    also had you looked to your right below the differential locks you will find the Traction Control buttons for the Hummer H2...they work great ..
    my H2 an H1 are more dependable than my jeeps
    (The jeeps CPS left me stranded 200km from nearest town)
    The H2's 6.0L Vortex engine is bullet proof also never had 4x4 drivetrain issues
    I always use the Hummers when I head out to work in the bush camps(no pavement around these parts)
    I've also rescued a few pieces of logging equipment & trucks with my H2
    the Hummer H2 6ton weight helps grip when rescuing stranded cars
    Cheers from HudsonBay🇨🇦

    Hey, while the Hummer H2 is ALL WHEEL drive all the time, does NOT mean it is 4x4 all the time.
    For true 4x4 you MUST put the transfer case into 4 HI LOCK. This places the transfer case into full 4x4 mode, locking the front and rear axles together (aka true 4x4). In ALL WHEEL drive mode (all the time) some power is sent to the front differential, but there is slip is allowed at the transfer case, thereby allowing you to drive around corners on dry pavement.
    If you didn't have the transfer case in 4 HI LOCK, you did NOT have the Hummer in true 4x4 mode.
    BTW 4 HIGH LOCK is not locking the rear axle. That is a different button on the dash.

    I have studded duratracs and it doesnt matter what the conditions are like, im going through, but at the end of the day they are an all terrain (similar to your KO2s) and they slide on ice. Not as much as unstudded, but they still slide compared to an ice tire as the compound is subpar for winter conditions. When my studded duratracs wear out, im going to purchase some studded LT hakkapellitas. Going through ANYTHING is great, but it doesnt help when you hit black ice on the highway or your sliding through a red light.

    Not all summer tires are equal. I used to believe that all of them are useless in winter, but I changed my mind after trying the latest Michelin Crossclimates. Winter tires are generally better in snow, but from my experience a FWD car with Crossclimates is way better in snow than a RWD car with winter tires. My 2001 Sebring with Crossclimates had never an issue, on the other hand my 2015 Mustang with Nokian WR A3 is downright dangerous whenever there is a slightest hint of snow on the road.

    That was some very important education for regular people about those crappy all season tires automakers put on cars in the US. Everything there seems overregulated but they let people drive around on all season crap in Winter? That is crazy. Here in Austria real winter tires ("snowflake symbol") are mandatory from Nov to April.

    • @johnpotter4210
      @johnpotter4210 Před 6 lety +5

      I think it also has to do with the intelligence of the people driving on snow/ice in the states. But I do agree that having a proper tire is a must for the conditions you live in. I personally don't need winter tires because it's TX and we hardly ever get snow/ice at my house, but I have driven on snow and ice with all season tires and to be honest it's really fun if you know what you're doing and want to have fun.

  • @GunsNoffroading
    @GunsNoffroading Před 4 lety +1

    Dont know, but from that video itself shows the Hummer had better traction in the snow. Also having a winch isn't really a reason for the truck to be better in the snow. I love Raptors and Fords in General, but the H2 is a beast regardless. If tires is an issue (As you said Better Tires in the Raptor) Thats something that can be changed without issues anyways.

  • @jeffk464
    @jeffk464 Před 6 lety +1

    Weight can be your friend in snow but the raptor has to have a better AWD system.
    PS I don't know whats wrong with the stability control on the fusion but my GTI is really well planted in the snow. When I was a long haul truck driver I saw about every kind of car slide off the road, what made pickups unique is when they hit the shoulder they would flip. If you wan't the ultimate safe vehicle for the snow you want something like a Subaru.

      I’m an American living in Quebec and got an eye opening experience of what real snow storms are, even though I’m from Pennsylvania which gets its share. That snow and drift effect coming off the St Laurent river combined with -35 temps for four to five months straight are brutal

    As far as cars with all-season tire, if it's bad enough that you need snow tires on a fwd car with no clearance, then it's bad enough to stay off the roads altogether.

    In Norway we are by law required to have tires that are made for the traction level we are driving on. EG. if you get stopped by the police on a snow covered road with summer tires you will be walking home... If you drive with studded tires in the summer you will get a fine.

      That is the gross vehicle weight rating. It means the maximum suggested capacity including people, cargo, and fluids.6800 is the dry weight; 8600 is car plus everything else.

    AT tires are my personal version of real all season tires. Some brands have AT tires that are in the middle of a true AT and a All season/highway tire those make the best actual year around tires. of coarse nothing is better in the winter than a true winter tire but i think AT tires are the real all season tires vs what we currently actually label as all season.

    Theres something oddly interesting in watching the hummer. I like these videos. I do think you need a few more inches of ground clearance, 10 inches more to be co sided a proper overlander and actually make it over object higher than bike trail in park. With enough ground clearance and proper tires, any basic Awd will do. I've seen 20 year old jeeps make it to the top with the proper suspension. Part of me watches to see if the hummer will fail you, sure it lost traction and hit a tree but it wasnt a complete failure. But it still bravely gives it's all, despite its many shortcomings.
