My favorite lightweight coat, the best chore coat, the best French workwear jacket, the best jacket for warmer fall and spring weather, is Taylor Stitch's Ojai. Available in a ton of colors and weights, it's an updated version of the classic chore coat that's loose fitting, unstructured, and works with just about anything.

Have you ever worn any Le Laboureur jackets or other garments? I have two of their moleskin jackets, and one of their Ouessant sheep wool jackets. They're a fairly small scale french manufacturer that's family owned, has been around since the 50s, and the prices are ridiculously low for the quality they're putting out. All the manufacturing is still done in France, and they specialize in traditional French workwear styles, using cloth made in France. I'd definitely look into them.

Love a lot of the stuff you review. This was not one of them. If this was white, it would look like something a dentist would wear. Just looks like a lab coat to me.

@@Stridewise Oh, I understand the concept of a chore coat. I had a “chore coat” back somewhere around 25-30 years ago. I’m just saying this particular one by Taylor Stitch doesn’t look good to me. Just my personal opinion/taste.

Made in China is not about quality - it’s about the ethics of purchasing something for $188.00 that likely cost next to nothing to produce to shit labor laws
