It was such a relief to find this video, because today when drilling drainage holes in plant pots, with my cordless Black & Decker, the drill bits kept going loose and falling out. Yes, I found a way round the problem was to stop drilling every few seconds to retighten the loosened chuck screw. But this didn't always work. I have been trying to find out today, to no avail until now, if it was ME who was doing something wrong to cause the loosening drill bits problem.
I LOVE my MINI BLACK & DECKER HANDHELD CORDLESS VACUUM though. I've had it a few years now and it's a GREAT powerful vacuum upper of bits.

Don't use hammer mode on drills for fasteners: it will greatly increase the likelihood you strip out the head of the screw, and it also wastes energy that could otherwise be driving the screw in faster.
Hammer mode in drills is completely different from the impact mechanism in impact drivers. Hammer drills move the bit towards and away from the material about 30k to 40k times per minute, in essence trying to mimic a jackhammer. The chuck assembly rides a series of small metal ramps that move it a mm or so forward and backward. It should be used for masonry applications only, with a carbide tipped masonry bit.
Impact drivers, by contrast, do not use a direct drive (ie the electric motor is not connected to the bit via gears), but rather a hammer and anvil, with a spring, to transfer the electric motors energy, via rotational impacts of the hammer mass against the anvil, to turn to the fastener in the same way an impact wrench does lugnuts. They can be extremely fast due to no reduction gearing, but in high torque applications, a drill will often be faster.
Impact drivers are not good for masonry drilling, although many masonry drill bit manufacturers will say their bits can be used in an impact driver at certain speeds, it's a poor attempt at a hammer drill, which is already a poor attempt at a rotary hammer.

    Nice video mate!
I was expecting the Bosch to win, although at the price point, I wasn't sure by how much (B&D tools are so bad these days I figured it was pretty well guaranteed). What I was not expecting was how much better the entry-level Bosch tool *sounded*, compared to the B&D. The B&D sounded like it was struggling with the simplest tasks, whereas the Bosch sounded like a much higher grade of tool. The motor, the hammer action, the slowing under load, etc. The interchangeable batteries are a nice benefit too! If I were getting into a new platform of tools today, Bosch's high end stuff would definitely be on my list (although it'd be hard not to go with Hilti).

Stanley, Black and Decker mega Corp has gutted many old school US brands, including Stanley, Craftsman, Porter Cable, and Black and Decker, dumping all their money and effort into Dewalt, which still falls short in many categories of its main competitors: Milwaukee, Makita, and Flex. It's really annoying, and they prey on homeowners/DIY guys who aren't in the tool world enough to know that these classic US brands have been turned into cheap Chinese junk.
