    thank you for the video, I am a second year children nursing student from London, england however we do not all get travel reimbursement. There are strict rules such as over 1.5 hours we get a certain amount back but we have to provide full receipts and timelines. I thought it would be hands to let people know the we don't always get the money. I have never been reimbursed for my fares I travel an hour to the hospital and back in central London.

    Hiya, I currently just finished my degree in Belfast and | am finally applying for nursing this 2020 September or 2021 hopefully. I missed the January deadline for UCAS as I was in uni - but I was not really aware of it. Can I ask, what typical questions do they ask in the interview, and was it hard? Which uni did you go to for nursing? Also, do they kick a student out of the course if they failed their exams and did not turn up on placement/ bad attendance??

    • @georgiahawthorne2185
      @georgiahawthorne2185 Před 4 lety +1

      Hey! I'm assuming your applying for Queens? I'm starting in September to do nursing. Looking back the interview was a breeze (didn't feel like it at the time tho 😂) the queens interview is just basically who you are as a person, have you looked into the MMIs? Its basically how you would handle a real life situation e.g comforting someone who has been bereaved. The staff are all lovely and genuinely want you to do well. I can't really answer any more of your questions but if you wanna chat let me know 🙂

    • @cathal9147
      @cathal9147 Před 3 lety

      Georgia Hawthorne fabbbb! That comment was prob like a month ago or something! Haha. I had my interviews in June there for England and not for Queens! So I already have the idea what will be the questions are! NMC conduct, Nursing Times and RCN really helped a lot for interviews! (I recommend those sites to anyone who is going for Nursing to England or Northern Ireland) I have deferred myself for next year but I think I’m gonna apply as well to Queens for 2021 because QUB are full for this Sept/Feb intake! 😊 but thank you tho.

    Hey, it sucks you don’t get any payment towards your travel expenses. I’m a student nurse in Scotland and our bursary includes £5 towards travel. Over and above that you can ask for financial support, but there’s a limit. I’ll be paying approximately £270 a month for buses and trains, etc. and I won’t get anything towards that, I’m just expected to move closer to my placements, which isn’t an option for me.

    • @Beefywheels
      @Beefywheels Před 3 lety

      I should say that we get a generous bursary but that it’s not really enough for rent/bills/expenses and the commute. If I’m lucky enough to just be on three days placement a week, I’ll be able to get a job on my days off to supplement the bursary. It’s worth it for sure if you can iron out the obstacles that are thrown up by unpaid placement though.
