In 2014 we left the UK to go travelling.
In 2015 we moved to AUSTRALIA.
In 2016 we got engaged in HAWAII.
In 2018 we got married in the PHILIPPINES.
In 2019, we decided to chase our dreams! We quit our jobs, sold our belongings and booked a one day ticket to Asia.

Ahh what beautiful memories you must have 🥰

I can not find the right words to describe how I feel when I watch your videos, you are doing a really great job! thank you for this amazing content😍
My wife and I do the ryokans when we travel to Japan. My wife is Japanese. We absolutely love the experience. The amazing rooms with the tatami floors. The impeccable service. The breakfasts and dinners. The onsens. If it's not on your Bucket List, put it on there.
P.s. We stayed in a ryokan like this one on Shikoku. We were in the mountains. To get to the onsen, you had to get into a cable car and go upwards. The onsen was on the top of the mountain.
That is so amazing, we just absolutely loved the entire experience, it was magical and such an insight in to the beautiful Japanese culture. The place you stayed sounds wonderful, what an experience!
Not many of us Japanese are able to stay at such a luxurious ryokan.
I'm glad you had a good experience.
We feel very privileged and honoured 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
I ask myself, how is it that the japanese architecture, Art, gardens, everything they put their Heart into, is so beautiful?
Its Art and perfection to the smallest Detail.
Tokyo would drive me nuts in Just a few hours, but to experience the traditional Art and way of living?
I would Love to.
Thank you for expressing the beauty of Japan^^
Thanks so much for watching! :) We love Japan!
Miyajima is one of my favourite places to visit, and always have stayed at Iwaso. It’s an amazing experience and the walk from the ryokan through the park and up the mountain is wonderful, and in the evening to see the floating torii at sunset. And then the onsen baths looking out to the surrounding area (wild deer passed by our bath during our stay).
Isn’t it just a beautiful place! We would love to visit again one day!
↓↓
She's the opposite of how to stack yukata!
If it is reversed, it means the person who died.😥(I looked it up and made it in English.I'm sorry if there are any deficiencies.)
Guys, I just found your channel and I am loving each one of the videos, especially the vlogs. We can see the videos are well captured and edited, and I can imagine the effort you guys put into it. Congrats! I’ll be watching from now on :)

Alex and James, these videos are really well done and the cinematography needs to be appreciated, so here is a sub. One day I'll be saying I was one of the first couple thousand subs when you get that silver play button. 👍

Actually..there are many Ryokan of such great standard...this is great, just saying Japan has many high standard Ryokan like this one :) I remember there was one Ryokan in Hakone with an open air hot spring attached to your room overlooking the mountain, just beautiful..
We are sure Japan have some incredible high standards of Ryokan’s all over the country. We would love to experience more 😊 that one in Hakone sounds incredible 😍

The Greyish Nomad Thanks Danny! 👍🏼
would love to experience ryokan!! super traditional, that's what we've seen on Japanese films :) ow Japanese massage!! so relaxing! yeah the massage in Australia is not cheap at all haha
It is an experience we will never forget! Yes! We see them in all the films too :) The massage was extra special! Haha, Australia is super expensive! haha
Loved going to miyajima, but its been a very long time since ive been there
We thoroughly enjoyed our time there 🥰
I was supposed to go to Iwaso this year until the pandemic ruined my Japan trip. I was going to start my own CZcams channel with a focus on history and The Ryokan here was very interesting because of all the famous individuals and foreigners who stayed here, including Helen Keller. The room we was supposed to stay in was a Hanare, or detached room, close to the hiking trails along the stream. I booked a whole year in advance! Too bad we never got to go. Wonderful you managed to visit.
We are so sad you never had the chance to visit!! Hopefully 2021 will be the year of opportunity for you! Keeping our fingers crossed for you 🤞🏼
0:31 adorable lil deer
So cuteeee ☺️
Nice place, welcome to Japan
Thank you 😊
Argh, moshi moshi! The one and only time you can use such a hilarious way to answer the phone >_
I love to visit Japan as long the hotel in Japan is not haunted by a ghost arigato. Not to cheap and not to expensive as long as is clean and four stars:))
btw that bath tub is a traditional bath, most all homes with full baths have one that deep. Im 6'2" and love them because i can actually fit in them lol. Also answering phones its moshi mosh.
That’s so awesome to learn!! So handy for you too being so tall 😄🙏🏼
i had a similar experience in mt fuji, just fronting the lake kawaguchiko.
best part was it was cheap, at least compared to other hotels
Omg! We’d love to go to Mt Fuji! What an experience! And a bonus it was cheap! 😊🙏🏼
Wow amazing.. someday you can try the sleeping pod in shin imamiya..
We would love to experience that one day! 😊
The right side of the kimono is on the inside, the same for both men and women. If the right side is on top, it is the costume of the deceased person.
Thanks for the feedback! Good to know for future use! 🥰🙏🏼
Thank you both. I'm preparing a trip to Japan and you have been inspiring. Just one thing though, you don't walk on a tatami with foot wear. 😊
Hi Michel, you are welcome, glad we could be of some inspo. Regarding the tatami floor, we asked permission prior and staff said it was okay. But noted for the future 🙏🏼
@@TwosomeTravellers Sorry for that comment. When I travel in a different country, I prepare myself to be a good visitor. I first learn some polite phrases to say. I try to learn the customs so I don't offend anyone and end up in jail or a gutter somewhere. The Japanese have so many customs and are extremely respectful, that after studying for over 2 years not, I still learn something every day. You did a great job because I learned from your video. Happy travels! 👍
very pretty!!
So pretty inside 😍
When wearing yukata, both men and women, Always "front right" = from right
First of all, the front right is the same as a general yukata. This is "right first" and the left is in front.
The only exception is burial clothing.
Thanks so much for sharing, I don't think we did a very good job and definitely needed some help with how to do this properly!! :)
Please come to Japan again^^
No shoes, geta or western, on the tatami 😱 You'll know for next time.
I love this movie.
A truely beautiful place any time of the year. It is magnificent during cherry blossom.
We would love to visit during cherry blossom when everything is in bloom! 🌸
I'm cross with you two, as I have watched all of your videos and am now forced to repeat the process... please make more, ASAP!
Also, the shooting and editing on all of them are par Excellence, along with your presentation, which causes the afore mentioned problem!
Hey Rolando! Thanks so so much for your kind words! You made us a laugh and smile a lot, we will do our absolute best to meet your demands!! We promise there is a new vlog coming in hot tomorrow, stay tuned!! :)
nice video :)
Thank you :)
Hi, Twosometravvelers! I’m planning on taking a trip to Japan soon as well. Seeing the beautiful photos you both took, I’m wondering what camera you two are using. Sorry for the late comment, great video! 😁
Don't worry.
Japan has countless "best" Ryokan.
Enjoy!!
how did you find out about the specific ryokan?
It was recommended to us by the Japanese Tourism Board, as we were working with them during our time in Japan :)
I love Japan. Went what feels like a hundred years ago. In my 20's an the sec I put my bags down I walked everywhere. Well for the 1st week the 2nd week my knee was swelling up an was limited ( in Tokyo) but Disney land was a crazy compared to the USA. A fraction of the size. What was also a trip was the largest size cup is a kids small in the USA lol. But shabu shabu is a must.
Oh wow thats so awesome! Do you think you would ever go back? We would love to!
That is not matcha(maccha). That is just greentea(otcha).
.
Thank you 😊🍵
5:22 Name of the track, anyone?
What is the name of this Ryokan? Love it.
Iwaso Ryokan 😊
How much money do you think you would you need to stay in Japan long enough an get around an experience most of it 10k?
It’s a tough question because it depends how well you can budget. The Shinkansen saves a lot of time but is expensive. Ryokans are beautiful but not as cheap as pods. You’ll be surprised that 10k would get you quite far! Providing you are sensible with spending 😊
So... we're not gonna talk about Alex not wearing the face mask per the Dr orders.
Hey there, we can see how this looks. The Doctor stated it was only necessary when 'travelling'. e.g. Public transport. But thank you for your concerns 🙏🏼
Twosome Travellers awe now I feel bad. Really like your chan 😅
Xxx
Nice ryokan there on Miyajima. But i think your wife has here yukata on the wrong way. The left side must be on top.
Always learning 😄 hehe
Tabi socks!
what is the name of this hotel please
Podrían reseñar en español?
Great video. By the way, ryokan is not pronounced like RYE-OH-CAN. It's more like somewhere between LEO-KHAN and LOW-KHAN (not quite, but definitely not how it was pronounced throughout the video).
Thanks so much! Appreciate you teaching us that thank you 😊
for yukata, it's always left over right. (unless you have just died, then they dress you right over left). great video though. One day i'll go to Japan. after the pandemic.....after the Olympics......and after all the locals have stopped hating the huge amount of foreigners coming for the Olympics.
Thanks for the information! Good to know 😄🙏🏼
ZikoN22 great observation. My mom was freaking out watching this video. Alex and James we love your videos just can’t watch Japanese or Japan videos around my Mom. She grew up there in the 30’s. Traditions are traditions.
Bit of a shock when I saw her wearing it like for a funeral......
How much is a room like this per night?
You have to pay certain amount of money in order to have a good time (end of the lesson)
How many Ryokans have you been to before you nominated it as the best of the best?
One! It’s all we needed 😉
Thank you for introducing me to Japan. But Japan is a country that values etiquette and manners. You can't put your elbows on when you eat. After that, I'm not well-behaved on the tatami mats with setta.
We are always learning new cultures each and every day, sometimes we get it wrong 😊 but thank you
best hotels are banned to film cause celebrities visit. it's far one of those. but still nice for ordinary people like me.
Luckily we don’t stay in the exclusive hotels that celebrities stay in 😄
Whats the name of the hotel please?
Iwaso Ryokan! :)
Best? Maybe your first Ryokan stay?
In ‘our opinion’ 😄 like we say at the very start of the vlog 😉
US$450 a night is too expensive for asian standard. I think it also include breakfast, lunch, dinner & supper & snacks
And geisha's entertaiment
To tell you the truth the way she wore the yukata actually was not correct if she was still in this would.
tadd lots of people have told us this 🙈 we have learnt from our mistakes 😇
best hotel according to your little experience. Like a frog under the well.
Andrew Ho 😂
the tea wasn't matcha
Short & small ,expensive = no good
0:33x.
Camel toe? LOL
Haha, thanks for watching till the end!
They r hungry. Visitors shd come or can buy food for deer
WHY DIDN"T YOU WEAR THE MASK?!
Hi Athena, the doctor said I didn’t need to wear it outside. Only in small enclosed spaces and only if really necessary.
Giving a deer prints... ignorance is a crime.
If a bird swooped in and stole your snack from your hands, are you giving it your food...?
I can't believe you put shoes on the tatami floor. Each mat costs about $150 (USD) each. It is also extremely rude and disrespectful to the establishment and/ or host.
Thanks for your concern. Regarding the tatami floor, we asked permission prior and staff said it was okay. But noted for the future 🙏🏼
Don't feed the map!
Don't show the map when the deer is by your side.
Many are dead.
C’mon, it’s called an accident... Wasn’t done purposefully, didn’t even know the deer was next to us.
It's not an accident. When you put out a map or paper, first look around.
It was an accident, there were no deer’s around when we pulled the map out.
How could you just let the deer eat that color inked map? Many deer in jp was found dead because of the "trash" they couldn't digested, I'm ending up the video just right there, NOPE
We didn’t let the deer do anything. We were minding our own business and it came up and ate our map. We felt ripping it from the deer’s mouth vigorously or prying the deer’s mouth open to get it ourselves wouldn’t have been a wise choice. Being honest it totally caught us by surprise. There’s a difference with what happened to actually feeding the deer paper. Accidents happen 👍🏼
