After watching this video and several others and carefully running down, everything that needs to be done I have decided to have it done by a professional.
After getting this quoted by a couple professionals, I have decided to do it myself.
@@authorityfigure1630 I was told 2000 or more and that wouldn't be with the quality parts I want in my 89 f150 8.8. Nor would it include the axle bearings and seals just the diff. I figured it will take me two weekends maybe 3. Get a $20 hot plate to heat the new bearings and freeze the new pinion and carrier to install the new bearings. A press may not be needed.
@@robb5023 worst case scenario you get to buy a new press. Get the 20ton from harbor freight and do the caster wheel mod some others on CZcams have done.
The crush sleeve eliminator is the way to go.
Agreed
Congratulations on the new addition to the family. 🙏✝️
Thank you!
Nice job.I have been waiting for this one.I have an 8.8 that I need to regear too....👍👍
Hope you enjoy those carrier shims as much as I did haha
Toss the main carrier in the freezer and heat the gear and it will all most drop right on
Yeah I would recommend not being in a hurry when you do this. I was rushing to get it done before the baby came haha.
How much shim did u have to add to the pinion
Great video man! Do you know what you torqued the ring gear bolts to?
Thanks! 60ft/lbs. That may differ based on your gear manufacturer though so make sure you check if you're using something other than Yukon.
You'll be climbing rocks and mowing down hills before you know it
Hopefully today! Fingers crossed no axle seal leaks...
