Not just parents, but ANYONE who's watching the kids too.
As an uncle they might not be my children, but when I'm watching them they're my responsibility, and I should be properly equipped as well as any babysitters, grandparents, etc
Although usually grandparents are already pretty well educated since they were already parents themselves, but it doesn't hurt to take a refresher course.

I've seen both two fingers to the chest (St Johns) and heel of a hand to the chest elsewhere (advocated by non St Johns) on youtube; but in the U.K. do what St Johns ambulance U.K. teaches you, you can't be successfully sued in the UK if you follow what they say.

I was in Saint John for 16 years in my youth. I used the skills gained some 20 years or so later to save a choking child in the school where I was a support worker for another service. Three weeks later my service refused to pay for me to revalidate and would not even give me the time off to do the course. I used my holiday and paid for the course myself. I've turned the clock back a few years and now teach First Aid in Adult Education.

What if the child is older, like 3 years old? Is the procedure the same? During a training a was told to hold the child from behind, bend them in half and hit their back few times or if it doesn't work squeeze their chest. Is it correct? I work with children and I'd rather have some solid knowledge in case of emergency.

Apparently if their face is red and they’re coughing, then they aren’t choking they are simply gagging and you should not interfere, but if they’re silent and turning blueish then you should help them

Let me try to understand. The placement of the fingers for the chest thrusts are direct over the heart of the baby.
So you are pressing in the position you would give CPR? Surely the fingers need to move away from the heart to press the air out of the lungs and not potential put the babies heart into VF?
    VERY BAD PRACTICE
If you are watching this readjust your fingers away from the centre of the babies chest to prevent the issue I have raised above.
