Totally agree with you on that. He actually got my attention because I have the DJI fpv and I feel like I can learn more on the avata then the DJI fpv. That DJI fpv is fast, very fast and it’s intimidating when on full manual mode. So I purchased the avata yesterday and I’m getting the hang of it. Good video and very explanatory.

I've been watching lots of videos about drones within the last 3 years, but this video is by far the most comprehensive and informative video about a new drone I know. Thanks a lot for your work (which you've done a lot here), and your channel certainly deserves to be followed!!
FPV world is so overwhelming and intimidating, but it's only natural that Dji has made it easy for the masses to get into it
Exactly that. The FPV world intimidated me too, but the Avata makes it easy to get started right out of the box.
Just got the DJI Mini 2 to help with film making. However, I always wanted to get into FPV for more dynamic shots. FPV always looked like a hard hobby to get into but it seems the Avata has solved that issue.
I was in the same boat, always wanting to get into FPV but when I started to look into it I didn't know what to buy or how to get started. The Avata solves that with a ready-to-go package. I think it will start a lot more people flying FPV.
Looks like this is going to get me back into fpv. The experience it has is leaps and bounds better than what i used in the past. Love it.
It's a really refined and fun experience, definitely worth getting back into!
Wow 35mins and every second watchable and informative. It is very rare to watch a review at this length without skipping bits but everything you mention is very interesting and incredibly informative. This is now definitely on my 'want' list even though I had issues with FPV when I purchased the original DJI goggles. Yes the experience was jaw dropping but I had to sit down before I would fall over through disorientation. The overwhelming motion sickness and dizziness meant my flights were extremely short, however, seeing that these goggles have the diopter adjustment I would hope that the image would be clearer. Because I had difficulties with the clarity on my original goggles I think that added to the detrimental effects I experienced. Im a hobbyist and don't operate for monetary return, I originally started with a wookong many many years ago fitted to homebuilt 550, although then the tech was riddled with issues its so good to see that DJI have started to release products that are far more reliable with firmwares that seem to work. I currently own a Mavic Zoom and a Mini 2 both of which are great. Thanks for this brilliant review such a huge help in a purchasing decision. I love the hand controller, looks brilliant.

The bundles don't reduce the price at all (which I actually like), so really all they would need to do is make the goggles available by themselves, then we could buy whichever components we want to individually. Of course, to do that, they'd need to make the goggles backward compatible with the original FPV and Air Units, so who knows?

10:00 - the reason is that the gimbal stabilizes only on one axis and the EIS works best with a high fps, otherwise it can get wonky

My drone discovery started December last year and I bought the Mavic 3. I’ve wanted to go FPV however continuously question my novice ability. You’ve sold me on buying one now and will be using the support link. I can only say this with experience, buy the DJI care plan as I crashed my Mavic 3 and it was expensive to repair. Keep up the good work!

You can get Freewell ND filters for a little over half the price of the DJI filters, and you get an ND8, ND16, ND32 and ND64, so one for sunsets and high light conditions that DJI doesn't even provide, and they have a polarizer filter as well (but note that the way polarizing works, you'd have to be in Horizon Level Mode or when the drone tilts, the polarization will change).
The antennas on the drone are encased in a removable hatch that comes off easily (be careful) and need to be taken out when replacing the prop guards. Numerous folks on YT have videos, and it's a simple procedure (again, just be careful when doing that stuff). The goggle antennas DO come out with a hefty pull, so at some point better after-market antennae will probably be available, but honestly, they are seriously great already! The Goggles2 prescription inserts are only $49.95. Whether or not they're any good is yet to be seen.
The touchpad is horrible at the moment, but I would guess a firmware update will make it much smoother.
Question: can you plug in, say, an iPhone or iPad with the output on the goggles to capture the live feed for a bystander to see what you're seeing in the goggles as you fly? I think you can (I've seen Potato Jet and others showing the drone off to others and getting what I think are real-time reactions to the flight of the drone, but I'm not certain and haven't tried it yet (I will be in the morning with a friend). (I notice you showed yourself turning, instead of tilting, the controller to turn in the beginning of your segment on using the Motion Controller, but does it actually turn when you turn as opposed to tilt the controller? I tilt it like a joystick and that works amazingly well, but I haven't tried turning it because the instructions said not to.)
DJI Care Refresh is an absolute MUST! It's affordable and, though in some cases they make you supply a CZcams-worthy video to show the exact issue you're having before they OK a claim, they are VERY good about legit claims being approved and returns/refunds/payouts being made. It's highly recommended to get the TWO-year option instead of the one-year.
So, Matheww... this is really a great, very informative video! You touched on so many aspects (everything, really) of this drone and all its details that your timeline looks like a trail of ants! Hey. I've watched over a dozen videos on YT about this drone in last days and this is first that covers it so comprehensively. Great work! Drone already bought, we were looking at FPV drones (never flown one BTW) few weeks ago for our Sept trip to Sardinia and this is perfect timing from DJI.
A lot people mentioned lack of additional controller as a reason they would not get it - I'm one of them but we were able to purchase one in last few days (and it seems there's a shortage of those atm). Can't wait to start flying it.

I'm really tempted to purchase the AVATA, to replace my (sold) Mini 2, but I've read that the UK/CE power restrictions are really causing problems for some people (with range). I was planning on getting the Mini 3 Pro, but this just looks like it's so much fun! (great video btw - the most comprehensive Avata video I've watched)
