    Would have been better if you hadn't reduced sports to certain domestic leagues (Soccer - Seria A; Basketball - NBA). In the case of Basketball, I think the biggest scandal was when the Spanish National Team of Paralympics basketball won gold in an intellectual disability event, but it was later found that none of the players were actually disabled lol

    Hi

  • @assolutocosmicoregolarerea8817

    Oh man, if i can tell you something from IT, i really like you when you talk about american sports, but a lot of things were missed or misunderstood about the Italian scandal.
    The only relegated team has been Juve at the end, and they were appointed as the main bad guys mostly because in italy Juve is like the Lakers or the Patriots, very winning, very hated. So people wanted the head of Moggi and judges gave them it despite other executives of other teams were into that system as well as him. Plus, as an executuve he was a really top class one, kinda like the Jerry West of Soccer (he could build a winning team with a really few budget if compared to then Inter and Ac Milan who used to spend unlimited cash from Berlusconi and Moratti), and most important, in a world like top level soccer one, there are a lot of literally assholes, especially in italian soccer. So, if you are at the head of a top class and such hated team (really, juve supporters in sone cities like Rome and Naples could risk their safety sometimes), you have to be as asshole as them, especially with very powerful agents like Raiola or Jorge Mendes, and of course at the same time keep good relationships with smaller teams in order to take from them talented young players when still not in their prime. So, Moggi throughout the years has become the public enemy number one. He already was not a really loved one when working with Roma or Napoli (yeah he was the brain behind their winning age with Maradona), but clearly the hate grew up once hired by the most despised team in Italy (despite being the most supported, but the ones who are not supporters of juve are haters).

    • @MrTooba
      @MrTooba Před 2 lety

      This is just wrong lmao, to say that Juve were only relegated and punished the hardest because they were the most succesful team is a straight up lie.
      Moggi was the instigator, Moggi was the one who was caught, Moggi(Juve) was the one who was punished the hardest

    Few more from football...
    German match fixing scandal. Circa early 2000s...Bundesliga referees fixed matches, did time...and still referee matches. This reared its ugly head the other day after a controversial 3-2 loss
    Brazilian....how do I describe the Brazilian match fixing syndicate? Calciopoli on steroids then. If Calciopoli was four teams. Try entire leagues and links to organized crime...
    Also just a correction, the Black Sox term was around before 1919, it was due to Charles Comiskey not wanting to pay to clean the team's clothing, some sources say it's the players not being paid enough to afford laundry
    Also, the BBC's coverage of the '88 Soul Olympics and Des Lynahm's iconic I have just been handed a note... is as the starting blocks. It's been said at least the top three were on PEDs in that final, if not more. I never knew Flo Jo was on PEDs though?athletics as a whole.

      @@Mike.Hunt. as defined by who? You talk like someone who clearly has never cycled competitively. Plenty of sports are done sitting on your ass. Cycling and rowing are two prime examples. Some other sports you spend half of the time sitting on your ass, such as the American iteration of football and baseball. I can assure you that cycling and rowing are way harder and burn way more calories despite the fact that you're sitting on your ass than in many of the traditional sports. What defines a sport is not whether you're standing or sitting, otherwise birdwatching and commuting would be sports.

    I feel bad for Lance sometimes because he had no other option if he wanted to compete with everyone else that were also using PEDs. I’m not saying what he did was right but UCI could have not bashed him so hard. I still respect him as a athlete and he shouldn’t be treated as a cheater because everyone else cheated too.

    • @PierreWolfMandroux
      @PierreWolfMandroux Před 2 lety +5

      No, you should not feel bad for him at all. Armstrong intimidated his opponents and the journalists, he tried to destroy his teammates when they decided they did not want to be involved in the cheating. He is a horrible human being. Every cyclists knew that at the time. He almost destroyed the passion of cycling among my fellow countrymen in France. He also implicitely forced other cyclists to take more dangererous products. Some people almost died because of that... I'm glad he got caught.
