Before buying the parts try taking everything apart, unplugging everything/blowing off dust and plug it back in. I did that and fixed it without buying any new parts. Thanks for the vid!!!
Thanks I’m having same problem now , will try this before running to autozone
Thank you for the video. Just replaced the resistor. The blower started but stopped again. I was thinking about replacing it as well. But i disassembled it gave it a little WD40 and now it works like a charm. Apparently the resistor tends to blow when the motor isn't running smooth , so oiling the motor might be a good advice since you have it right in front of you anyway.
I have a 2009 X5 diesel and just made this resistor swap. Works perfectly. I must say it was easier to take apart than put back but well worth the little effort. Saved hundreds of dollars. Thank you so much!
Thank you for the video. It saved me hundreds of dollars. Your video was explaining everything that made it look easy and yes, it was an easy task. Replaced the resistor in 45 min. Thank you
you sir earned yourself a subscriber you're a life saver thank you.
Thank you very much and welcome to the.channel.
You sir are a legend, silly me decided to spray to much mould cleaner from the cabin filter, which leaked into the blower i needed to get too... you're a lifesaver, excellent video and detailed instructions, i wish i could buy you a beer..... much appreciated from down under 👍👍👍👍
Thank you very much Dave. Have an awesome day. Cheers
Success...thank you!!! For me it was just a bad resistor and the job cost me about $50. I lubricated the fan bearings and friction points, they had some rust on them. My X5 is an '09 with 195,000 miles so the blower fan unit has been used to say the least. The hardest part is getting the fan unit pulled out and then back in place. It is so awkward laying on the floor of the vehicle and it is a major shoe horn job getting it in place. I am NOT a mechanic by any stretch so if I can do it it is definitely doable for those willing to give it a go.
Glad to hear it worked out. Thanks for the comment
I looked all over CZcams, and they all sucked. Except yours. What a lifesaver. All the nuances were in your video. Even removing the electrical connectors. I had such a hard time removing them I thought I had to take it in so I don't destroy them because of some retainer clip that was not visible. Watching you muscle them out gave me the confidence to persist and get the job done. Thanks for sharing. I am a new subscriber.
This is my next Car definitely... I’ve been driving BMW since 2004 (used in good conditions cars) without any major problem, I own a 11 328i 170k miles and still feels incredible strong, I always give then love good maintenance, top oils and additives I think that’s the key... life’s too short to not enjoy a wonderful drive everyday everywhere..you do Great videos buddy, keep it going !!
They are great and I have loved mine for many years
Thank you so much for sharing this! I saved a lot of money doing it myself. It’s working!!! I spent $47 dollars for the parts only. Bmw dealer were charging me $500 including parts and labour. God bless your channel buddy! 🤝👏👏👏
very very super helpful for sure. many many thank you Sir...from all of your hard make video i have learned a lot from you Sir....
You are very welcome
Just wanted to thank you for taking the time to create this. I just successfully completed the exact job using a $28 part; saving me hundreds of $$$. Keep ‘me coming!
Where didyou find it for $28?
I paid $30 and some change. Om amazon. Succesfully fixed the blower problem thanls in part to ypur video. Thank you for that! I will check your videos should i need a repair youve recorded.
I had this issue with my 440GC. Replaced the motor blower first, was not the issue. I just ordered the resistor component. The 440 is much more difficult to access the rear T 20 screw, I did not realize my body was able to contort into the position that allowed me to remove it. Also the Airbag assembly is attached to the panel, so making sure the battery is disconnected during the process is recommended. Thank you for explaining the alignment tab next to the screw itself explained a lot looking back at why it took me so long to reinstall the motor blower. I receive the part this Friday and hope to have a much more successful deinstall and install this time based on your video. Thank you.
Thanks for sharing and yes it’s a bit of a pain
Thanks! Completed the job in 10 min! You just saved me a lot of$$$$$
I just replaced my resistor and now the blower works again; this was easy to replace just the way you explained. Thank you for video.
You are very welcome.
A very detailed video, love it, makes it easy for me. Thank you.
Big thanks! Had the exact same problem with the exact same vehicle.
Great job / like your attitude..👌
Thank you 😊
Thank you for this video, saved me a ton of time and money.
You are very welcome. Glad it helped.
Thank u for the information about heater
2009 x5 35d , For me it was the blower motor itself. Brush shoe was worn out. I found it was an aftermarket motor installed from previous owner.
Thank you for the video.
You are very welcome
Man, you are the best.👍🙏
Your video helps me a lot and it is knowledgable for everyone .
Thanks
Thanks for watching
Excellent video glad I found you. It’s early fall in Illinois went to turn the heater on and surprise no heat blowing !. Going to order the resistor today. Thanks 👍🏽
Thanka got watching. Yes we are rolling into winter now but we are keeping fingers crossed for a mild one.
THANK YOU!
THANK YOU!!
THANK YOU!!!
👍🏻👍🏻
Brilliant thanks
Thank you for this video brother, it saved me a few hundred dollars🙏🏾
Very nice
Thanks for making this video, my X5 is 13yrs old now 200k miles on the clock RHD model as live in UK,, how come nobody has done a RHD version ? Had identical problem all lights say working but not blowing. Followed your procedure and found the motor was tight , so put some penetrating fluid then oil then dab of grease on each end bearing ,spins a treat now, tested and spins like a new one. Absolute pig to get back in but managed it and works fine now . Cost nothing just a bit of time and effort. Would not swap my X5 E70 for anything, I love it and it looks after me I'm 72 now so not worth swapping out as pull a caravan , No EV can do this for less than £80k min, dream on I'll stick to my X5 . keep on making great video's 👍
Thanks for sharing . DIY is really the best way to own these.
Hello, how did you do it? can you explain please? What do you mean by lubricate, what part did you lubricate? And how did you access it? all the best
Thanks man for the grate video.
Great DIY mark keep up the great content
Thanks a lot, much appreciated.. I enjoy sharing my experiences with you guys. It makes sense to share the events of my car ownerships.
Thank you🎉
Thanks again, Mike.
Thanks for watching. ....hint Mark
my brother buy a x5 like this 48i. I loved it so much 😍
Thanks. These are great SUVs to drive. Thanks
Thanks for another great vid Mark. I just upgraded my 2008 X5 to a 2011 X5 M. I should have learned from the problems with the 08 but am evidently a glutton for punishment... and I just like the X5! And I’ve learned so much from your channel ;)
Anyway, I’m getting squealing when braking and turning left. Sounds like it’s the blower motor but only happens when the fan is on and only in those circumstances and seems to have just started with cold weather. I’ll take out the blower fan and lube the bearings but any ideas why the noise is only when braking and turning left? Keep up the good work! I’m now a subscriber.
Nice video thanks ✍🏼👍
Great video thanks, it's fixed mine too!
Thanks for watching
Great! It was very helpful tnx
For sure you are very welcome
Great job on the AC Blower
Hey really appreciate the video brother. My boy and I are going to try this out Tuesday once the part comes in from Amazon. Hopefully we can find a convenient one at a local car place
It’s a great DIY. A little tight admittedly and if you take your time and work in a warm space, it’s definitely do able.
Top man
Thanks for this
You are welcome
In my bmw X5 E70 is not coming air from the vents at the front ( meaning those two in the middle, one at left and one at right) but air is coming from the rest in the car. I change the coupe filter, and all the filters in the engine. Any suggestions..... thank you
Does anyone find that the rear blowers are really loud? I'm always jumping to turn rear fans off whenever no one is in the back seats because of it.
Nice!
Thanks
I have the sent problems and my x6 2011 sdrive 50i v8 twins turbo.....from the Dominican Republic 🇩🇴 I am you fans
Thank you very much for watching and I really appreciate that. Have an awesome day.
Thanks for the video. My car has only the right side, not blowing. And made a sound like it's stuck or struggling. Do you think it could be the same solution?
Thanks so much.
Mine is a x5 2013, cools in Summer, but no heater on winter. ??
So when I have ac on cold the driver side no air blows or very very weak but passenger side is perfect !
Now when neater on no air blowing at all on both sides
Blower stoped working on my 08 X5 3.0, took me 5mins to get to it watching this video, I checked the electrical harnesses and everything looked ok put it back together and blower started working again lol
So a big thanks for taking the time to make this video!!!
Common issue - I had the same issue on my E70 back in the day. I took the blower motor out, gave it a clean, used electronic cleaner spray on the contacts, put it back in and it worked for years and continued to work when I sold the X5 😀. Another common failure is the heater control valve that sits to the left and under the coolant expansion tank. If you ever lose heat in the cabin, replace that part.
For sure, great point. These parts are all possibilities but fortunately they are reasonably able to get access to. Some cars, you have to rip the dash apart to gain access
@@ECPP very true, easy to access parts for replacement compared to other car brands
On my car the front vents don't work. But the back seats do work 🤔🤔
My problem right now is that driver vent hardly blows hot air meaning there is hardly any air coming out. But the passenger works OK. Do you think is the heater control valve under the coolant expansion tank? Thank you.
@@ggua92722 same
Fkn issue with mine !! When on cold !!! On heat nothing comes out like no air billows from both sides !
My air vent blows cold in winter and blows Hot in summer, I was told it is the actuator issue, can you help with your advise please?
Thank you for your video. I have a 2016 BMW X5 and no air is coming out of the vents. All I hear is air behind the dash, what can it be?
This happened to my “from time to time something going wrong” BMW M3. I replaced the unit with a revised unit and all was well. Seems like a more common issue not many people brings up in the BMW community.
Absolutely and a low search on the tube but it is a real thing and common enough.
Hi
Can you make a video...(X5 e72 n52).
“How to remove/replace the radiator fan?”
Or
“How to remove/replace serpentine and ac belts?”
You were right! It’s fairly easy to get access and remove the resistor and motor. Thank you so much for sharing. The problem I have is that driver vent hardly any air comes out. But the passenger vent blows normal. Any idea what could be. Thank you.
You are welcome
I have this very problem. Did you figure it out?
What are your thoughts on the '94 - '01 BMW 740 e38?
Great video, i was able to replace the resistor. Before none of the air was blowing, but after I replaced the resistor only the driver and passenger side air is not blowing, any one have any idea why? thanks
So I am wondering if this might be the same issue I have. Basically, the AC comes on and off randomly. When it comes on, theres usually a loud noise from the vents. When it goes off it sometimes starts again when I go over a bump or a rumble strip. Could this fix resolve the issue? Also got a junction Box JBBF Error Code: 00A6D1. Any help would be appreciated :)
If not already mentioned in the comments, remove the assembly and supply 12v to the motor connection to check Make sure its not the fan motor itself first. Unlike me 😂
Same issue, I just changed blower motor with resistor 😁
Pretty easy fix for sure. A little tight but otherwise good.
My e70 one aide blows warm air when ac is on ! U recon it’s the same problem
How to be an good BMW fan... Just be an good mechanic too!
Probably best to learn to fix these cars.
@@ECPP Finally you're get the point!
Is this the same process for the 2014 model
ugh , I just tried this and getting it back in was a bear, then when it was half way in the fan turned on and was grinding on something, now it don't work really at all, so there is always that. something was catching on the drivers side , I eventually got it back on but ugh nada, is there a way to take off the kick panel? it would make it sooo much easier. and what is that access panel for and how do u take the wires with the clip off it?
09 5x 30i can u help with the e-break light on all the time pls
Hi. So my problem is no air through the vents. Only air through the defrost option . My motor blows fine. Can you help. 2011 x5
how do you know if it the resistor not the motor? my fan is going but its very weak
The last screw that holds the motor into place isn’t seeming to line up properly so I couldn’t screw it in. The motor itself is aligned onto both the spokes (one plastic spoke might be slightly bent/warped) that come down. Fooled with the alignment for about an hour but it would not get back into place. When I closed it all up to see how it would work with the fans blowing you could hear some really loud vibrations which I can only imagine are stemming from that misaligned screw location. Any suggestions?
What should I do if it is coming Cold air from driver´s vent, and hot air from co-pilot side vent?
Exelent video I have the same problem in my 2007 X5...how much you pay for the resistor an where you buy it
I believe dealer but it’s still a bit pricey. I would check the aftermarket stores like FCP Euro
Hi mate, motor runs on 12 off battery so i know thats fine, im waiting on my resistor coming but you mention the relay, where is that situated
I've just had a recall (23rd August 2021) for a concern on the blower regulator on my 2010 X5 E70 here in the UK, the notice mentions intermittent or complete failure of the heater blower, smell of scorching/burning within the vehicle cabin or smoke within the vehicle cabin from the interior vents. My vehicle has just recently started making a noise as if a bearing has gone in the motor itself, maybe a coincidence?
Helpful information! And I did notice a car washer that lives in the house, as well?
Lol Thomas. Now if only I can get him trained up. Cheers
@@ECPP having trained three "car washers*, It is amazing how motivated they become when they want to take the car out on a date when they are older.
My dad bought a 2014 BMW x6 drive 50i everyone at my school were jealous
Nice machine, the X6
Is the resistor to blame when front windshield defrost works, but ac fan control does not? No air movement (or fan motor noise) through foot, center and head diffusers, but plenty of volume and motor noise on defrost.
Did you ever figure that out I’m having the same thing
I have a 2018 440ix,but the climate control passenger side no upper air vent, is it resistor problem?
I have the problem with my 2014 X5. Replaced the resistor and the motor did spin but temporarily. Now what?? Got some figuring out to do.
I actually replaced my blower motor and resistor and it worked for a couple months. It slowly started blowing slower slower and slower until it finally stopped working again. So I'm wondering whats going on with the resistor on these.
Hi my 2006 x5 aircon doesn’t blow air when I first start the car but after 10-20 minutes of driving the aircon works perfectly fine. Would this be the resistor and would it be fixed if I replaced it?
In the Dominican Republic recall from BMW in the x6 ,the BMW dealer here, they don’t want to do for free ...please if you have any recomen in that..
Is that same as x6M too
i have 2012 bmw x5 change control valve thermostat water pump fan work great but still don't have heat please need help thank you
My AC works great, my air blows as well, my problem is the heater! It does not get hot. Could this be same problem? The resistor? Your thoughts?
No your problem is the heater control valve if its a heat issue. Also make sure your coolant is at the proper level.
The air from my 2009 x5 desiel vents sound very strong, but blows little air out. I think something blocks the air duct system...
check cabin air filters
my x5 it blows air but not in the front vents could someone help me what is the problem?
my e90 is blowing some cold air.its warm when its standing but it becomes cold when its moving.what might be the problem?
My E70 has this same problem, but only when using the auto mode. When I use the forward defrost function the blower works fine. Is there a seperate blower? Would this still be a resister problem?
I solved my own problem today. Turns out blower won't work if the battery voltage is low. I replaced my battery and everything works fine. Good idea to check the battery before changing the blower
Could be a different problem, sorry to tell you
Just had this exact issue today. Thanks for mentioning it.
Which is the relay on my x5 e70 4.8i??
Hello, I have a 2011 X5 xdrive35i, there's an issue I'm having where the AC for the back seat works wonderfully, but the AC for the front is awful. I'm kinda assuming the AC itself is fine (as evidenced by the back seat AC), but that's there's an issue with a door/flap somewhere in the dash I'm assuming. When I get home I'll watch this video and see if it's applicable. If anyone has any insight it'd be appreciated. Thanks!
Mine is 2013 x5 E70. Air is coming but initial 1-2 min hot air then no hot air. Need suggestion.
Hola amigo , que sintomas tiene el coche para saber que el problema es de esta pieza ? un saludo
If it does not run or only runs at certain fan speeds whe. Selected
@@ECPP mi problema es que en ocasiones hace un pequeño ruido y no sale demasiado aire por los aireadores . Es este el problema de esta pieza ? un saludo
Hi sir, I have E70 like yours. I’m having problems when I select my heater temperature to 28F, the driver side blows cold air and passenger side blows hot air. I really want hot air coming out through driver side too. What is the problem you think? Thank you sir
Did you find a solution
What if there is a sound, but only little air is coming out?
I wonder if this will fix my issue or if I need to change my final stage resistor, my fan stays on even with all the Aircon stuff turned off and with key out, doesn't turn off after 15 mins and drains battery...
Hopefully it works for you
@@ECPP fingers crossed, any idea where the final stage is located on an 09? Is it the same place as an 06?
My e70 2009 30d is stalling while in motion and get moving after jumpstarting the battery what could be the issue...
get a mechanic lol
So my 2013 X5 won't blow hot air. Blows cold air just fine, but when I turn the heat on at full blast, it doesn't blow any air. Just started happening after taking it to the mountains (5-30 F temps). Coolant level is fine. Not sure what the culprit is.
Heater control valve. Common issue.
Didn’t work for me ,I changed the resistor nothing so I’m stuck don’t know what to do
Will this fix the ac air coming out to?
For air flow, yes
Does anyone have problems with the windshield defrost? Air blows out ok in the middle but barely any air comes out on the driver and passenger side.
My does blows but not hot air any ides
