@@charlesbrightman4237 I’m thinkin a lean too and jack the pack and food up a tree.
This video “rocks”. Loved the steak and bacon cooked on the rock. Going to find a flat rock for my base camp. Wonder if you can harness that heat in the rock for a bedding warmer??
Once again sir you made me feel like I was right there with you.. I absolutely enjoy seeing you do your thing.. an I'm not sure if you were reading my mind .I have been thinking about starting a channel but I said the same thing this morning to my better half that everything has already been done.. I'm just not sure if it would be worth it at this point. I wouldn't be able to put in the woods teaching like you being I'm now in a wheelchair but I could explain things I guess
Watching him eat that steak made me hungry
Just FYI..Happy to report I am getting Notifications on my iPhone (not by email)..
Best part about my sunday evenings is watching the corporal. Outstanding
🤙🤙👍👍👍👍
Outstanding AF
Ditto!
Agreed!
Everyone acting like the world is about to end and you are living your best life just smoothing it 😎 Salute to you good sir outstanding
To be fair it's in the main cities that the world is ending and unless you're in Cali, where everything burns/is burnt down yearly, quiet suburbs, rural areas and the wilderness are pretty chill.
Aged to perfection right about now. 😎
I appreciate everything you said in this video. And you are definitely correct about people now or 15 years ago didn't invent this bushcraft. To me it is a recent fad people jumped on. This stuff has been done for couple centuries for people to live and survive. Was just a way of life for families to get by in life in a rural setting. Everything I've learned about being a true woodsman, which is wgat people called it before, not bushcraft. I was taught by my grandparents, my dad and my uncles , that grew up in the mountains in se Kentucky and West Virginia. I'm almost 60 yrs old now and learned so much from them. But I love your videos and dedication to teach people that probably were not as fortunate as me to have good woodsman teach me and hand me down their outdoor skills. Thank you Corporal.
Correct. I’m 53, grew up in the middle of nowhere, kind of poor, (never really knew it), and we just called this camping. Or building a fort. Or hunting season. I still learn a ton from the Corporal on most every video. Mainly how bad I am at knots. 😂
What made me a viewer is pure and honest. Your builds, attitude, positive mind set, and your channel isn’t based on gear and money but skill with less and affordable items. Do I wish your videos longer yes but do I understand the changes heck yes. But, that’s not going to change a damn thing from me as a viewer. I’m still going to watch! 🍻
I boils down to being authentic. The Corporal is authentic. People need real.
I appreciate this
Truth^^ skills, not frills. Dude needs like 3 knots and a piece of tarp and he can make you a freaking man cave in a couple hours, then whip up a meal that you can smell through a computer screen. That's as real as it gets. (Plus, love the little dude - makes me conscious as a dad to try getting my own little one outside as soon as she's able).
100%, the real deal
I just love it when I get my notifications from Corporal and there's bacon in it. Makes me all warm and fuzzy lol
Fantastic as usual,,,, Steak 🥩 on a rock ,,, always,,,, If you ever get a chance to camp ⛺️ in a jungle,,, Bamboo,,,,, is used for everything ….. Fish 🐟 in bamboo,,,, excellent.🙃
I believe what you are showing here with your survival videos, will make a difference to people's life. There is a whole lot of spooky stuff happening right now in the world. 5 years ago, this would just be conspiracy theories or even just another Rambo. However, if ever there was a time to prep, I think now is the time to do it. And people out there don't have these skills, they need to learn from someone. Being a camper is one thing, many think they have it down, could go bug out just fine. I thought like that too when in the gulf War, well its not at all like comfy glamping. With artillery over your head you hunker down on your face, you are terrified, scared to a point you can't move. No one knows this feeling of complete helplessness. You can be the biggest, toughest, strongest, most disciplined, but that's not what takes. It's emotional and you have to have endurance, size doesn't matter....how you look, what your fashion is, what your beliefs are... none of that will matter. What matters is knowing what to do to obtain palatable water, food and shelter from the elements...and how to defend off threats like wild animals. It's something instinctual , like when faced with these situations...a flash memory of us as more primitives in earlier past lives. We come from humans who survived the most harsh of conditions and only some of us can tap into that memory of our ancestors, we need to reach out and educate people today about how to survive out there with nothing. I think you corporal are doing a outstanding job of helping people learn the ways of the wild woods. I give you a huge Semper Fi! I'm Army Rangers, did about the same training as Marines. Keep up your great work Soldier, If you helped even one person.... you did your job in the eyes of the universe.
Ok, I get it, you have not created anything new here. BUT you have kept these skills alive and introduced them to those both young and Old, who may have never been exposed to this before. Speaking for myself....You have reminded me of things I have forgotten, and showed me ways to refine my own skills. For this I thank you for what you do. Be good and Be safe.
Can't believe a week has come and almost gone, thats life in the fast lane,at least in the wild, you can take it nice and easy put your mind together and be one with your self, alway a pleasure watching my favorite survival program with my good buddy Shawn Kelly, peace be with you brother, enjoy what's left of the weekend
My Grandfather once told me that "70% of your daily stress is work related. If you find a job you love, you got it beat". Keep doing what you do brother, Happy Birthday and SEMPER FI!!
Hear here !!!
We look forward to Corporals Corner every weekend.
It is Sunday! I'm here for my fix! 😉😁❤
Nescafe is good stuff! I learned about them in the middle east on my last deployment. All of the locals drank Nescafe coffee, and I really enjoyed it. When I saw the brand I actually shouted out "Nescafe!" I need to get myself some of that.
Corporal you are the best with a good sense of humor. You are appreciated
You have the best and detailed bush craft channel
Awesome job man.... I keep watching as your videos comes in.!!
Thats right baby do what your made for an PLEASE, PLEASE DONT GO NO WHERE! I have custody of my nephews 2yr old 6yr an 8yr old boys an we're obsessed with your knots an we have our adventures in the backyard. Just wanted to say Thanx an appreciate your adventures! Believe it or not you broke them out of there shell an they love your adventures!
So creative and unique set up. Didn't there was so many different ways to set up a survival shelter in the woods. Also great ways to safely set up a campfire without burning the shelter or the surrounding trees.
Well said Shawn, you have done well. you are genuine and honest.
Loving the way this overnight is done without cord, without sleeping pad, or mess kit. Way to Improvise, Adapt, and Overcome!
Shawn mate , David here from Perth Western Australia,
no matter what you do that has been done you are still different and you are still grown breaking you could say and you could go so far to say you have something not many others do, and thats enthusiasm and vision, partly because of your training and partly because of your fun and great way of looking at things .
you make what you do look fun and simple (not easy) you show what needs to be shown and not bogged down in the small or repetitive stuff you show how just by opening your mind to what is infront of you , you can create something worth while and you show and prove not everything goes to plan and thats not a bad thing you dont get pissed about you see it as a new and exciting challenge and create something sometime better then you hoped but sometimes not as good as you hoped but still doable . you never let us down and i know for myself you have helped keep me sane (what little sanity i have left) and even though im ex ADF you have shown me things i didnt even think of so you have opened my mind . and isnt that what its all about and the rest is up to us if we enjoy your lessons to then go out and try it ourselves and see what we come up with and have fun. ive watched others but none are us excited or enthusiastic as you and none that i have watched have your skills and real life skills i might add or there just far too serious . your a legend keep up the good work my good friend
It's all been done before, but no one does it like the Corp! Bacon and ribeye on a rock. OUTSTANDING 👍🏻 🇬🇧
I like it, minimalist survival
I Love ur vids keep up the good work man
Good advice, IMO. My favorite YT content providers are part performer, part technical instruction. Add competent and understandable instruction or entertainment and it's a win for me! Keep on doing what you're doing...being Corporal AF!
Happy 245th Corporal, as a Navy Corpsman I was honored to be invited to the 202nd celebration. An excellent meal, a bacon and cheese stuffed baked potato was the only thing missing. Another outstanding video, looking forward to future videos on this camp.
I must have missed this video. I know because I always have a thumbs up “Like” on the Corporals videos if I have seen it. Bonus for me!
Well ole boy, heres some honesty, I've not been a big fan but do watch your vids weekly, tonight , your "talk" turned me into a loyal fan, you became the human being I suspected you were. It was by far the best few minutes I've watched you. Your sincerity and honesty won me over, my hats off to you and I sincerly wish you and your channel the best ever, oh one more thing, let's hear more of your "talks" well done ole boy well done
Nice one corp, oh playing to the end and will watch your next video on the recommended! 😉
I’ve been backpacking since the 70’s. It was until about 2 years ago that I discovered Bushcraft (I grew up in the city).
There are so many ways to make a shelter! Just when I thought I’ve seen them all… BAM! I see a new one. I could watch you build the exact same shelter four times… Spring, Summer, Winter, and Fall!!
ide like to see more furniture ideas Like table , chair, kitchen set up, along with camp set up ect,. I thought the latrine one was good. vid. I seen how he did a quick coffee table top on the side of a tree. that was cool.
Your Killin my battery. Can't get enough of this show!
You are a Legend, practical, skillful and experienced. Skills transfer to next level.Keep up this high quality edu videos
thnaks, please tell Yt this
When I got to Vietnam I was issued a 2 quart soft canteen. I used it as a pillow by drinking a little over half the water and deflating it a bit so it was soft. I used it during my Army Reserve service later on for many years and gave it to my son in law who did 2 tours in Iraq with the Michigan National Guard. Other than my rifle it was my favorite piece of gear. You can still buy them on eBay.
3 years later, and I'm binge watching Corp' s videos again! Great content!
I'm doing the same right now!
nice work with the sparks 2 light the gas never thought of that.
ANOTHER GREAT VIDEO ADVENTURE! NOW LET'S WAIT FOR A FAKE BIGFOOT FILM CREW TO COME BY AND "FIND AND FOOT PRINT" AND IT'S SHELTER! LOL...I DO THINK BIGFOOT IS OUT THERE, EVEN THOUGH THE FOOTAGE IS ALWAYS GRAINY OF COURSE. AWESOME QUICK, LOW RESORCE SHELTER IDEA. ALL WAYS THUMBS UP AF!
MEAT'S BACK ON THE MENU BOYS
To heck with notifications. If it is Sunday, there is Corporals Corner!
There is NO ONE on U-TUBE as Honest and Forthright as you are!
Steak and bacon on a hot rock... doesn’t get any better than that! Outstanding Corpora Kelly!!!
Amen to that Corp, and wow. Amazing AF. Thank you for another great video
I know what you mean when you talk about leaving the Marine Corps and not belonging. I struggle with that loss of mission or sense of purpose too. Thanks for helping me realize I'm not the only one. S/F.
Hey buddy, just wanted to let you know that CZcams IS recommending your videos every Sunday on my feed so keep doing what you're doing Marine!!!
Yes but you are the best at what you do. Your helping a lot of people.Thanks.
The wikiup is a tedious build, I've never tried it, so thank you for putting the work in! When my sons rotate home on leave and we go out, I always cook on a rock, they say just get a pan, I say the rock is the cavemans non stick pan and there is no better way to cook a steak! Corporal AF as always! Appreciate all your effort!
Love ur videos so informative w out boredom
In Scotland, traditional bedding would be heather and your kilt/blanket on top and is surprisingly warm.
It’s been done before but somehow, you are the only one doing what you do tho. No one else teaches the way you do. Everyone else just wants to be like you.
I’ve been asked “why go out into the wilderness by yourself”? I say”because I can”! With videos like these, it builds confidence. Develop skills and chores to stay busy day and night. Thanks
Thanks for your service dude
I was camping in the woods and did that trick of holding the log in my legs like I seen you do man that makes it a lot easier
Good to go CPL K👍👍 The "alternating limb, gravity wedge shelter"...Outstanding AF. Not a new idea, but haven't seen used in a while. Built these back in the day with pine boughs for shingles and bedding. Cooking on a rock..kinda popular here of lately on CZcams, works great if the right rock is used. Steak and bacon, go figure... Well done!
Semper Fi. Happy be lated birthday Cpl. Your not nasty your Hard core! You do the stuff, most talk or dream bout. That said i thank you... Got home from deer camp tonight. i AMAZED the camp with items I had and skills i learned from " CPL CORNER"
Can't believe you're closing in on half a million subs. I've been watching since the beginning and it's awesome seeing you finally get the recognition you deserve and watching your channel progress. Outstanding, brother. Keep up the good work
I'd have to say your channel is one of my favorites for outdoors. I reference your videos frequently and recommend it to others. You are very humble but at the same time very knowledgable
Keep doing what you are doing sir! We appreciate you
So glad that I came across your channel, it’s a stress relief. It takes my mind off of work. Working in the hospital during this pandemic it helps i just want you to know that. And as always thank you for your service.
Thanks corporal, I know Sunday is CCS: Corporals Corner Sunday.
Nice Sir 👍
Conserving cordage is a really good point. Especially bank line.
I love your conversations with us. Makes us feel we are there having fun with you. Love your humor and
Your wisdom. If we are ever driven from our homes because of current politics, we won't be sleeping on California sidewalks, but hopefully in a nice clean woodlands. We will pick a cabin out of our memories of watching your ideas. You may save our lives. That must be a great feeling for you! Thanks ! Corporal Kelly.
Outstanding AF as usual, no, scratch that, you keep raising the bar buddy and getting better. 👍🇬🇧
This was very labor intensive !!! I can't see this happening with younger kids.
Denny H. 🤠🐕
One of the things I like best here is the Corporal's rabid attention to detail in building his fires. I loved getting the fire going in my pappy's woodburning stove to warm the place up. It's a ritual that's been practiced for millennia and I miss being able to do it.
2nd best part about Sunday.first is Jesus.awsome Corp.amazing video
You know something dude? That's the best advice so far given on CZcams. Do your pwn thing. Great job as always. Peace my man!
I hope you receive as much joy and contentment as you provide others!!💖 Look forward to every Sunday for something new from you. Am excited to see what your "big plan" is going to be -- hope you build a permanent shelter.
Never seen a shelter like this before!!! ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT!!! TY!!! Happy Birthday Marines!!
Thank you for the video corporal
Cooking steak on a rock!! Now that's BA!! Viking Style. I love it man!
Another good one. Another thing that makes a good “griddle” in a fire is the plate that goes under a railroad track that the spikes go through to hold the track down to the ties. I had to use one once years ago when some friends of mine and I went camping with very little gear. In the morning everyone was hungry, and we weren’t sure what we could do. At least we had our fishing poles. Caught and filleted a couple trout, and fried them up on that “griddle” after we scrubbed it off with river bank sand and had it laying in the rekindled fire. We had been camping near an abandoned railroad track. There was a loose section that we got the mount plate from. It worked out pretty well.
Steak & Bacon, 🐮& 🐷...Yummy!
Another interesting video something to think about when I build my bug out bag
Sundays without corporal, is like the sun behind the clouds just not right. Great video brother and your number one this week so i will play it through.
I'm getting to this video late tonight. But, my sunday is not complete unless I watch the Corporal. That shelter is awesome AF. It's like a little teepee. Thanks again for all you teach. Have a great week. I'll be seeing you next time
SEAN; I've cooked fish that way but, I was just reading Horace Kephart, about cooking with flat stones. He builds the fire on 2 flat stones stacked, but separated by very small pebbles. When they're hot, he puts the steak in between them for quicker cooking, like a Foreman grill...
Great video thank you can't wait to see medium size dude again hope he's doing good in school
Keep doing what you’re doing... I’m inspired constantly and you have taught me things I will pass down to my kids... except for explaining “A.F.” of course... that will come later... cheers...
Be Yourself, do what makes you happy!!...Outstanding AF Simple AF
Just as good as the first time I watched that vid. Keep doing it chief 👍🏻🇬🇧
Glad I was on the ball
Shawn, CZcams is actually notifying us of your videos.
I see a lot of people say they don't get notified but I guess I'm lucky, never seen that. I'm subscribed to all kinds of channels too, from video games, history, men's fashion, fitness, conservative politics, firearms. Weird.
That would most likely be the first wood shelter design mankind used. Simple and easy to set up. Draping some hides on the outside and now it's water proof and your own body heat will reflect and keep the shelter warmer.
Its sunday...its kelly time AF number 1 woodsman KEEP ER LIT AF..😎💯🤟🏕☘☘☘☘☘☘.
Great content. Useful information. Question. Have you ever encountered any unexpected activity while Bush Crafting?
Corporal , you may not have revolutionized the world of bush craft as you say . But don't under value your contribution to it !
Its all about the bacon and maybe the delivery.
Enjoying this episode with a hot cup of coffee ☕ carry on
THANK YOU FOR YOUR SERVICE TO OUR COUNTRY. I LEARN A LOT FROM YOUR VIDEOS. I AM LEAVING FLORIDA IN FEBRUARY TO LIVE AND TRAVEL IN MY VAN. I HAVE MANY OF YOUR RECIPES WRITTEN DOWN IN MY JOURNAL AND NOTES AND SKETCHES OF SHELTERS THAT YOU HAHE BUILT. IN MY TRAVELS I AM GOING TO GO OUT INTO THE WOODS AND BUILD SOME SHELTERS LIKE THE ONES YOU HAVE BUILT. I AM GOING TO LEAVE THEM UP SO WHEN SOMEONE IS OUT IN THAT AREA THEY CAN EXPERIENCE THESE TYPES OF SHELTERS. AT SOME SPOTS. I WILL CONSTRUCT MORE THAN ONE. THANK YOU MUCH. SEMPER FI.
Oorah to ya from Navy Hooyah Salute to you Vet!
Couldn’t have said it any better man....that’s exactly how to go about the whole CZcams thing....👍👍
'Be yourself' thats probably the best advise you can give to anyone and everyone. Thank you for sharing and keep the videos coming! Reminds of my days in the army and hope to get my boys to join me on an outdoor camping trip soon.
There are a lot of teachers in my family and something I have noticed from them and from having teachers I've learned from as well is that each person has kind of their own way of explaining the same thing and some of those explanations are going to click better with certain people more than others but the same explanations that didn't click with some people are going to be essential for other people to understand the concept. From what I have seen in my family, teachers aren't usually competing but the goal of helping people understand something is a common one.
I'm not a person who comments a lot on CZcams and stuff but man, every Monday, first thing after work is watch your weekly video👍best video of the whole week! AF
Greetings from Belgium 🇧🇪 and keep up the good work!
Isles of Tripoli
This is who you want in your corner when the grid goes down...inevitably
HAPPY BIRTHDAY BROTHER! . . . Chili's ?????? That's how Ruth Christ delivers the steak to your table . . . . You're living bigger than you know. I was USAF in the late 70's . . Hurlbert Field, FLA. AC-130H gunships SPECTER!!!
Wow, when you said in the 25 years since you left the militry this is the first time you feel it's not a step down. I get that, and that's a long time to be lost brother I'm so happy you found what you love after army life that's amazing and inspirational
Watching this video made me sweat just seeing The Corporal work that hard.
What a great way to cook a steak Awesome.
I did almost the same thing for my wilderness survival merit bage back k in the early 80's (Boy Scouts, Life Scout). I cooked hamburger and veggies) on the rock 🏕 😁🇺🇸!
Listening to the sizzle of that steak and bacon on that rock brought back some awesome memories of camping in my youth. My brother and I used to do the same thing. Steaks, bacon, brats, dogs, burgers, baked potatoes, veggies in foil. Those were some good times.
