The Todoroki/Dabi storyline has always been one of the most compelling part of the story for me. Touya keeps coming closer and closer to the saddest backstory in MHA, his first instinct when waking up was to apologize to his family… just sad

Now it makes more sense how the todorokis did not recognize him in previous encounters/on the news, his vocal cords along with other parts of his body were from strangers along with him returning as an adult. By far the most messed up part has to be AFO blaming Toya for not healing back to 100% in those 3 years. AFO really bullied a kid fresh out of a coma into thinking he had control over his healing while in the coma and just chose not to do it properly because he’s a bad kid. That’s so many levels of messed up from a mental health point of view.

We saw from the first war - Dabi felt angered towards Hawks when he said Twice was the biggest threat in the League of Villains for Hawks to deal with instead of him (said he should have been watching him). All he wanted in life was recognition, to be the first at something, to not be overlooked in general. Yet he always ends up in someone's else shadow. Like with Endeavor having Shoto as the prized son (as a child Toya told Endeavor to look at him). And now we see he was a potential back up plan for AFO too.

Of course. Bc AFO was never looking for a successor but a new body he could transfer his mind into. But to do that he needed someone so weak minded, easily manipulable, and unstable that he could easily suppress that mind. And that's where Shigaraki came in. He just prioritized Shiggy bc he needed him right now and it would take too long to find another candidate. The main body dies so does the Quirk and AFO.

I don't even see Dabi lasting long enough for Shoto to technically lose. If you had to summarize everything about Dabi in one word it would be "replaceable". Touya was replaced with Shoto, his body parts were replaced, he was supposed to be a replacement for Shigaraki and once again, Touya was replaced with Dabi. Another word is "failure" which also goes well with these. Touya was replaced with Shoto because he was deemed a failure, his body parts were replaced because he failed to realize how much his flames were hurting him in time, he failed at being a SECOND CHOICE and then, because he failed at being Touya, whose whole purpose was to surpass All Might, he became Dabi

The way I see Touya's survival after his escape from the facility, it can be compared to how people can survive seemingly lethal situations through sheer willpower. Very much to the levels of impossibility in this case, but probably still along the same lines.
With how Touya's body is being burned away so drastically, it would need to be a genuine miracle for him to survive for long after the battle. I love his character and wish desperately for him to see his whole family again for some kind of closure for all of them, but he seems to be going the way of a candle being blown out: flickering rapidly before extinguishing.

Well, if the vestiges of the souls of previous users can remain inside the core of OfA, then their willpower adds on to the quirk. Ever wonder why Deku readily breaks his bones without consideration when the situation calls for it? Well, that's the willpower of all the previous 8 users adding to Deku's own will. And All Might too. He readily shortens his hero timespan if it means saving people and being the symbol of peace. Willpower.

You pointing out the parallels between Dabi and Frankenstein's monster is actually stronger than you think.
Besides what you stated, in the original Frankenstein story, when Dr. Frankenstein first created the monster and gave it life, he actually was appalled and disowned his creation because it wasn't what he wanted from his experiment. The Monster was in a fragile state of mind, similar to a child, and to have the one who created it turn his back on it and disgraced it turned the Monster into a vengeful being. It became so engrossed in rage, it returned to the Doctor's home and killed his wife but left him alive so his creator will forever be racked with torment.

I think that Endeavor will go up to Dabi and somehow Dabi is going to try and burn Endeavor, but Endeavor doesn't care, and ends up going up to DAbi to hug him, to which Dabi goes out of control and then incinerates Endeavor to death, but he doesn't care because that is his way to apologize to his son, who he ruined. Or, possibly they share "Flames of love" and instead of incinerating endeavor, he learns about "Flames of Warmth."
I really want Endeavor to end up becoming a true hero that everyone looks up to, including his own son, however we really cannot say if Dabi can be saved... He seems to be a Zombie at this point, just living with the thought of wanting to be recognized by his own father. It's also possible that Dabi self-destructs when he gets Endeavors love and ends himself because he cannot take it(because when one is put in massive abuse that they never wanted to be in, in the first place, they do things so drastic that everything is ruined in their life, and if somehow, the abuse was a lie, or that everything they wanted actually happens, and somehow things turn from abuse to happy.... The victim cannot handle it and they can just do some really bad things to themselves).

I wouldn't call him a nomu still. It's more of he COULD have been a nomu, but the only reason he's gotten this far is strictly because of his vengefulness toward Endeavor, holding back his power to not destroy his remade body, and POSSIBLY his own quirk being very specific. Don't know about that though since this chapter almost trashed the phoenix theory with the logic of "hatred his why I'm still alive and nothing else." Darn
I really don't want Dabi to die
He needs some happiness in his life
His been through so much already
    I hope he lives
It isn't fair for him to have a horrible life and then die with a sad ending
    He deserves better
It's hurtful to see him in that condition
It really breaks whatever is left of my heart to see him like that

Dabi deserves a hug. He suffered greatly and it's everyone's fault. He's a villain not by choice. But that's what everyone set him as. I just hope like a Phoenix, he will rise from the ashes and get the recognition he deserves.

Sadden by the thought these kids think they are safe yet they will be put in danger by All for One and his lackeys
Thank you for saying Frankenstein Monster and not just Frankenstein.
The power of him not dying to prove his father wrong sad that strong will made him live a long sad and painful life.
    Can't wait for more.

By the by, I havent seen anyone else mention this, but Sunflower Man is a direct nod to Mr Bloom from DC comics, who also has a penchant for abducting kids and experimenting on them, though in DC, hes his own man and nobodies lackey, Sunflower Man seems to be a worker at Garaki's hospital/Nomu factory.

@@eclipse7963 Not like there wouldnt be a reporter try to dig up this story many of them would gladly pursue some type of scandal like this and there are various types of ways to get therapy or mental help this isnt the age of medieval fantasy this is a modern day hero vs villain society that has had to deal with heroes and villains that suffer from various types of stress and or tragedies so the mental health things a bit of a mute point since someone before hero society fell couldve helped or even persuaded him to try something else other than villainy if he had help from people that truly did want to help but for change he had to take the first step himself
