Great video! Liked that it was straight to the point!
Awesome. Just bought a cedar chest with some damaged veneer on the outside. Looks easy!
This was very helpful. Thank you for sharing.
So glad I just found this video! I just got my first furniture off marketplace to repair and flip! This is just what I needed!!!!
So happy to help! Best of luck!
Thanks...first time doing this and this will guide me.
Thank you... exactly the information I needed. 😁🥰💜
👍 Thank you definitely this is the best.
Great video so helpful I have a 100 year old armoire I got for free but the veneer is in rough shape in areas I’m going to try this and bring it back to life. Thanks
Great tips!! I love Bondo too but you really do have to work fast but you can also paint over it really fast!!
So helpful! - thank you! It’s great to see someone work SO confidently to tackle a common problem. (Aside: LOVE that blue stain on the finished nightstand. Was that a gel stain?)
Thank you love
What a great idea! I have so many pieces in my garage to restore, many of which have missing pieces. Can’t wait to get to bonding!!
I thoroughly enjoy your videos. Once finished with applying Danish oil, do you recommend a satin wax or another product to increase durability on a kitchen top with out sacrificing the beauty of Danish Oil? Thank you
Kristan
My opinion is that best and cheapest way to repair veneer is to use veneer. It looks better too. Specially on a larger areas.
You are an excellent teacher
Thank you! 😃
Hi, I have a side table that has a veneer with a beautiful pattern, (the rest of the table is wood) but the color is too orangey. Can I use a stain on the laminate that does not obscure the pattern?
What brand is the hardener?
Hello! Love the video, very helpful, and have never heard of Bondo before. What is the name of the hardener you used?
So glad you liked it! The hardener is included with the bondo. Sorry I should have been more clear about that!
@@ARayofSunlight So its better to use gels stain on wood after is repaired with wood bondo? you can't use regular stain?
Thank you
You can use regular stain, but Bondo (and any other wood filler you use) won’t take the stain the same way that your wood does. Even different types of wood will take the stain differently.
Gel stain can sit on the top of surfaces instead of soaking in. So with gel stain, you have a better chance of the repair looking the same as the wood around it.
Hope that helps!
Also, be sure to use the wood filler Bondo instead of the all purpose or auto body version. The wood filler version looks the most like wood, so it will stain better.
@@ARayofSunlight Thank you very much for the tips. I appreciate it.
Now to go and buy some wood bondo.
What kind of sander are you using that is a square/rectangle with a hose attached, maybe to a shop vac?
It’s a surfprep sander. You can read more about it and which one I have here: arayofsunlight.com/surfprep-sander I also share about a cheaper alternative there too.
dont stir bondo work it with the spreader to mix it. If you stir it like that youll get alot of air bubbles when you sand.
Your so right, you need a 2 pack filler
Clearly bondo is no good for staining but very good for paint. There was a brilliant product for staining that has now been discontinued ARGH !!! It dried light and took any staining for a exact match, now I have to find the next best thing but this is not good enough for expensive furniture restoration, anybody have any ideas what I could use for thin veneer patch ups that can be stained over for a exact match? Two part epoxy wood filler is apparently good but I haven't dared to try it yet until I get some furniture to test it on that isn't expensive furniture. ?
You cant stain with bondo though.
Bondo is super toxic FIY
