Also Rayleigh made a remark about Oden kids being on the ship reminding him of the past made me think maybe buggy and shanks growing up on Roger ship after God valley makes sense. Also buggy being entrusted to Roger by rocks same way he would do the same with ace to Garp would be crazy foreshadowing.
Well history being written for the winner says Rodger was put to death but his last word started this and Buggy being from his crew had some fame, we do not "know" much of the real story. @@dradenlol8667 i think its the only possible explanation of Woop Slap's iconic "is it his dream... or his destiny?" line. Why would it be Luffy's destiny to be a pirate if no one in his entire family or history was a pirate, and he only even started caring about pirates after he befriended Shanks? It doesn't make sense, unless he does actually have some family history with pirates.
Also Garp never actually calls Dragon his son, it's always "Luffy's father" and Luffy is "The child of my child", specifically never saying "son of my son". I think Dragon is Rocks' son and he married Garp's daughter, and the reasons Dragon and Garp hate the celestial dragons are the same; they took Luffy's mom. This is also I think why everyone in the Marines is just okay with Garp's insubordination, because they'd be assholes to call him out on it when it's because of his daughter being killed or enslaved.

I think rocks is more of a buggy type character. They seen him for who he was (just lucky) at go's valley and that's where his luck ran out. The crew was so embarrassed that they had followed him that far and now don't want to talk about it.

Kaido wasn't in Rocks' inner circle. He was just an apprentice on the crew. So his view of Rocks would have been more akin to that of a random Impel Down escapee's view of Buggy.
The first part of the video is valid but the part where Rocks is like a buggy and fails upwards isn't. Rocks was in Kaido's top 5 as people who could legitimately fight him like how Oden scarred him. It would be ridiculous for someone like Kaido who takes fighting one on one very seriously to have Shanks, Whitebeard, Roger and Oden in his five yet a hypothetical scenario where Rocks is weak in his 5.
Mihawk said himself about Luffy that the strongest power on the seas is the power to bring people together and, no matter how he did it, Rocks brought Conquerors together. That right there makes him Top 5. No one else that we know of has done that

Watching your video has me second guessing if rocks was a powerful character or used the davey back fight to obtain these strong fighters in order to reach his goal of becoming king of the world. As we know the Davy back fight doesn’t have to be a brawl. It could include games which rocks had an advantage in just like foxy had an advantage against the strawhats in a lot of the games. Loved the connection you made with rocks being roger’s first foe and buggy being luffy’s. Could see this theory being the truth or very close. Rocks might just have had the power to make enemies into friends just as Luffy and buggy both have

@@Parvision- The theory falls apart because Kaido thinks of him as strong. Kaido isn't going to consider someone playing games and using cheap tricks as strong, he has little respect for dishonorable combat. Buggy fools people who have no clue, but he isn't fooling people who actually have real ability, Crocodile/Mihawk look at him like a bug. The world could maybe be fooled as far as Rock's supposed strength, but people like Kaido aren't going to be fooled by that.

In my opinion Buggy is a Nefertari and Vivis uncle. I'm not actually joking. Buggy's vivre card says he was born in the grand line and none of the Roger flashbacks show them in Alabasta, even though Roger is confirmed to have taken basically the same route through Paradise as Luffy. I think Buggy is potentially a noble who didn't have a path to the throne so he left on a pirate ship.

if that were the case he would either have to be cobra's younger brother or a cousin or something. But he never reacted in any way to the news of Cobra dying. When with Vivi missing he could just go there and take over saying it was his right. So i think that one is a no.

Haven't watched yet, but I think Rocks was definitely a strong af pirate. He was in Kaido's top 5, and it took both Roger and Garp to kill him. Right now I'm on board with the idea that Rocks was an absolute menace of his era, clearly a major threat to the WG, and caused enough turmoil in the world that he had to be erased from history. Even the mention of his name is something troubling to even the strongest marines and a lingering shadow in Kaido's mind.
If he were just some guy who threw money at some strong mfers, his name wouldn't be held with the notoriety that it is today.

but I dont think crocodile and baroque works had the notoriety of rocks pirates. so yes its an upset but the levels of an upset that a single rookie marine took down this nefarious captain and 3 of the Yonko who were not like weak. big mom solod giants at 5, and kaido was out destroying kingdoms at 10 or w.e so by the time god valley comes around, they were monsters for sure.

Give thanks Par! I was feeling extremely abnormal for seeing the parallels between Buggy's failing up and Rocks's cloudy history. The way Oda draws each of them with open demon smiles and their company defining them (buggy and xebec) instead of their feats was my clues to how Oda might be showing the cycles of history when the masses are kept ignorant. (I wonder if Xebec is a version of Xeper,/Khepera the self created (characterized by scarab/beetle) who said "I am" and all things sprung into being including Ptah the fashioner (later Greek Vulcan and Roman mars) Tehuti the scibe,judge (Greek gnosis) before the first ta Merian/Kemetan/'ancient egyptian' dynasties over 30,000 years ago. I think that Oda has recycled an idea he originally had for Moriah which is that Xebec is a pastor and used his oratory skills to gain the crew and believed that his apprentice Kaido was the next Joyboy
There’s no doubt the Roger pirates also fought at god valley, Rayleigh and scopper were there to find shanks with Roger, and Oda drew the ship leaving but never finished the sketch. It’s like thinking luffy would leave his crew during his greatest battle to defeat an entire enemy crew alone but with one strong marine at his side. It’s far fetched and makes no sense.

like if you think of it like this right in the imagery of god valley, it was a bunch of civilians. even PTS buggy could have wreaked havoc like that lmao luffys crew could stop them and more. im just imagining there had to be some kind of complication with the world government which is why they chose to hide details, spin the news, and things like that. but its less so about rocks and more so about hte location and the place. if it werent why delete it. and rocks was just a victim of being associated with it. but also they did say they were there for a big score, so wonder what thats about haha

funny theory but i really think that whitebeard big mom and kaido would have been able to tell if rocks was strong for real or just a fraud. buggy fooled a lot of people but they were wackies. strong people in one piece can always determine if somebody is strong for real or not by their presence/aura alone

Buggy D. Xebec has a nice ring to it. I love all the buggy and rocks connections and I can see rocks being a buggy character. I would love to see that happen and I hope Oda takes inspiration from Pirate King Buggy. Buggy gang!

Xebex is kinda one of the first big pirates we have heard of that have gotten close to a true death as described by Hiruluk. Blackbeard is basically the only person that may possibly carrying on his dream and actively keeping him in his thoughts.

I disagree with Rocks being compared to Buggy because we know Kaido only respects people because of strength. Kaido wouldn’t have joined the Rocks if he didn’t respect Xebec’s strength as a superior and he wouldn’t have compared Xebec to Luffy, Shanks, Roger, Whitebeard and Oden if he was weak and a fraud
Do we know how he joined tho? he was also at the age of 15, yes he was strong. but 15 year old luffy could get punk'd by most of the new world right? on top of that theres more nuance to joining a pirate crew right?
the reason why kaido has a strength merit based system now, might be because rocks didn't have that.
but how many times do we see people following others because of a dream.
if kaido at 15 escaped navy 15 times and then also hated the celestials and world government or atleast didnt want to be their pawn. well we see whitebeard and big mom doing much of the same. you can group these monsters by a common goal, so would it be weird for a 15 year old kaido to follow a band of pirates that were stronger than him, and the captain was shielded by whether it be respect, an illusion, or a plethora of other reasons, then yeah i could see kaido doing that.
THat could be why kaido was called a rat by big mom, could be why big mom said rocks wasnt reliable and if kaido needed anything to go to her.
The other part of it is yes kaido is a man respects pure strength, that is the kaido now. after god valley, years after. what was he like before. The thing about strength is it comes in so many shapes and sizes.
if rock's strength was buggy's strength, which mihawk said is the most formidable power of the seas, to get allies.
then Rock's power was able to get a bunch of conquerors to band underneath his name. where as even with all the strength kaido has, he could not do even close to the same where his right hand doesnt even have conquerors.
but the overall point being when you said kaido wouldn't have joined the rocks if he didnt respect xebecs strength.
Did kaido respect the vodka king's strength, fighting underneath him for however long? he was 15 going at the world, and then comes along whitebeard who would definitely slam kaido at that time, and this super strong dude tells you to work under a man because he will give you the proper direction to fight the world government, yeah i can def see multiple ways kaido joins, and then later reflects about why it wasnt great.
now as to why he would compare him to luffy, shanks, roger, whitebeard and oden. i think the nuance is there like hey he didnt put akainu, garp, or BIG MOM in that list? if kaido couldnt beat rocks, maybe there was a reason, albeit a ridiculous one, that kaido saw rocks in that way. but that same reason would lead all of the monsters on rocks to follow him in the first place. it could be that rocks had good haki and whooped 15 year old kaido, sure. but again any haki would have whooped 15 year old luffy. It could be that rocks had a crazy devil fruit that allowed him to get hits on kaido, in a way that he cudnt defend. but i do agree theres a reason why blackbeard parallels rocks on the surface, and i have to think that its because its a mix between blackbeard and buggy to some extent.
@@Parvision- Disagree first of all what does Rocks being a fraud ads any weight to the story? In fact it does the opposite. Kaido is not a fool he’s not going to judge someone’s strength just by looking at them those top 5 are people that he actually fought and respect the fact that he never said anything Good about Rocks meaning that he doesn’t respect his character but still respects his strengths even after reaching his primes means a lot.

Perhaps it wasn't destroyed by a beam, but sucked into the Darkness-Darkness fruit (meaning that, if viewed in shadow it may appear, like an inverse of a mirage; alternatively, maybe Blackbeard could go there to either release the island or otherwise access it).

Rocks was just the original Buggy and when the truth came out all the power houses were so embarrassed they just don’t talk about it.
Great reasons, however, Reasons (considered together) why this is failure:
1) kaido put rocks as one of the greatest pirates
2) any attack on celestial dragons has to be muted in order to discourage the inspiration of rebellions
3) if the info was successfully kept from big news Morgans, as they almost did recently and as was almost done with luffy's picture, then no one would know
1. he put him as one of the greatest pirates? oden was there, oden was more of a passenger tbf, but also thats not what he said at all. community put on implications like that and top 5 or strongest, etc. but it just says people who can fight/hurt kaido from his experience.
2/3. in the chapter it literally says, the NEWS reported the god valley incident which included the rocks pirates.
im not saying that the news didnt scuff the details, on the contrary, im saying the news changed the information, and then sengoku regurgitating it changes the information even more. So whatever we are getting from sengoku is not even 2nd hand information, its like 3rd hand rumors that he is also redacting because he isnt just telling them everything im sure. he is just saying what fits the agenda that the rocks were bad.
and to address the overall thing is yes, it was muted or redacted, but like sengoku said, rocks was KNOWN because of god valley primarily. and im addressing the part of the community that believes Rocks was ERASED (like the void century) like God valley was, but thats not what happened to either really. time was the factor in their erasure, unlike void century where we dont have records of it. and some people believed this implication and applied it to lulusia believeing that laser beam erased memories as well, when it doesnt make sense in either case. but also cycling that back and saying rocks and god valley were erased, but if rocks was defeated and they lulusia'd god valley, then they wouldnt have done it in front of all the spectators implying it was done after everyone left. UNLESS they used a different means, which is the implication i did apply though considering in the story its the only island eraser we know of canonically besides "ohara" and "knock up stream" and i added knock up stream cuz of the noland video i made, which sort of predicted a lulusia event, which is interesting cuz that would mean that there many ways to erase a place under the world governments umbrella. but yeah

One huge problem dude: Kaido's top 5. Rocks is in there, and unlike the WG that can spin narratives or the average person, who only sees reputation, Kaido only sees strength, pure and simple, thats the foundation of his very character. Now, I absolutely agree that the Rocks pirates were probably formed through a davy back fight and thats probably the reason why they were all embarassed and not loyal to each other, but davy back fights are especifially a contest amongst pirates to get crewmates, so it makes no sense for Garp to take part on it or for Rocks start one of those at an island controlled by the WG, so his wounds were most likely because of an actual battle, and if we use Arabasta as a parallel like you did that would mean Garp couldnt do anything against Rocks and had to rely on Roger
when Kaido dealt with rocks or experienced rocks, it was when he was 15. most of the new world would have whooped 15 year old luffy with just haki. but what kaido says specifically is these 5 people are capable of fighting kaido. But behind that wording is alot of nuance. like Enel would say anyone with luffy's power would be amongst people capable of beating him after experiencing rubber. but i wonder if theres a power or ability that rocks could have had that would have made it really difficult for a 15 year old kaido to even fight him or win. Could it be similar to how Buggy is "nearly" impervious to the worlds strongest swordsman? I wonder if Mihawk would say theres only a few people that can fight him and include buggy because he cant cut buggy. i wouldnt be surprised if rocks had some annoying ass power that made him difficult to fight, especially against blunt force damage. a few come to mind.
and i agree with you on the end part about the weirdness of garp being involved in the davy back fight, when i connected the pose, that was one of my concerns as well, but i dont want to dismiss the possible parallel available there. like if garp and koby are parallels, then is captain morgan arc a parallel here too. like how koby was working with luffy, but because of the recognized evil of the marines there, it was understood why koby was working with luffy and appreciated that morgans was taken down, and so thereafter koby's "crimes" of working with Luffy were covered up and ignored. but still davy back part is weird right? its almost like if aokiji interuppted the lrll davy back fight. maybe garp shows up after, i think at the minimum davy back fights are involved with rocks, but yeah to what extent.

The only thing that holds me back on fully believing in it is that Kaido put him on the same level of other legends. I think that's the hardest part to explain since I'm pretty sure Kaido wouldn't be that stupid. i think whats gonna break most people is however irrational it is, honor is held so highly, and the davy back fights which originate from rocks' pirate island shames pirates for much of what seems to have happened within the rocks pirates. the introduction line, its a way for sailors to get the strongest sailors, and the rocks pirates is an example of that. and most importantly, breaking from any of the rules of a davy back fight, makes you dishonorable. so did kaido break that rule and big mom called him a rat for it? lol

i definitely agree, i think itd make more sense if roger was luffys shoes in that regard, that was more or less to paint out the numerous parallels that oda has inserted. the circumstances around garp's involvement if it was a davy back fight is still more than one imo, he could have been put in a position to let it happen because it was better for roger to succeed than for him to use his forces to intervene. a little bit like how smoker/tashigi had to take a backseat in arabasta. garp may have needed to land a final blow and the image we got was misleading or simply the image that was taken for the newspapers. you'd be like why make it so round about, but the way i see it is the point of all of that would be oda's demonstration of how the world government/newspapers would write a scripted message for their benefit regardless of the circumstances, something that our world is plagued with especially in the past when there was alot less oversight.
