@shiftprodigee5476 Yeap, it's basically like your own trade in trade out system. Using this makes caps almost redundant. You can also stockpile on vendor caps and jump from vendor to vendor.
I can confirm that this does work on Xbox series x. You must go to a vendor that sells guns in NEW condition and then it easily done.
Thanks so much for confirming that this still works, much appreciated.
@@TrappedInFallout does not work for me sadly
The glitch works as far as the condition is concerned but not for selling back
@@sulemanibnmoosa the glitch doesn’t work 100% of the time. You have to do it a few times and create a new save, just in case it messed up. Do it 4-8 times. Then quick save.

Not sure if it's because I'm playing Tale of Two Wastelands, but this glitch does not work unfortunately. When I re-sell the weapon it's less than what I bought it for
Hey Soulless, sorry that your having issues with this one. Chances are that since your running TTW, that this might be patched and fixed as part of using the settings to run both games. It's a total guess on my part but I think the most likely reason why your having issues trying to get it to work.

edit: after doing this twice with caravan shotguns, a third, fully repaired caravan shotgun has been given to me. The weaker one i bought is actually still in the shop🫥
I guess as long as your still able to make a 'profit' then it's all good. So, is it working? I'm a little confused by your edit.
@@TrappedInFallout So I figured it out, when I buy back my gun I receive a fully repaired version. But the shop keep shows to be having their original gun and the one I sold them, but buying either makes both disappear and I receive another fully repaired weapon. The exploit works as "intended" if I instead sell the weapon I bought, then it goes back from there being 3 caravan shotguns back to 2 and I resume the cycle.
"It just works." -Todd Howard
@probablygeorge6489 Yeap it most certainly. Its a great way to repair your weapons and make some extra caps.
Nice video.
Thank you very much for your comment Minu. I really appreciate it.
Great guide. This still works. But it works best on gun runners. In some places it can work on armour. As of June 2023.
Thanks so much Steve for confirming that it still works, I really appreciate it. Your absolutely right, it does work best in the Gun Runners but the key here is that it works anywhere with any Vendor.
Also note: this glitch may sometimes have to be reloaded to continue. Also note: if you buy a s#it load of stuff and try to glitch your money back it wont work. For gun runners stay close to its 8000 cap limit and exit and save frequently.
Also note. It may not work on other venders. But it us more consistant on the gun runners.

the buy-sell glitch works great, the gunrunners also have a lot of ammo and weapon upgrades that you can get for free while trading back2back! can confirm it works with the PC version xbox gamepass ultimate edition (all dlcs?)
Thanks Markus for confirming that the glitch still works. It's a solid way to get a fair amount of caps. You can even cycle this by taking out the combat Armor troops in the Gun Runners base, for each run you can get around 15k caps.
@@TrappedInFallout yes! tho I didnt know where to sell stuff with high value cuz the sellers dont have that much caps. Good thing to note is that the robot seller restocks its caps to 4000 every 3rd day
@@MarkusHag Yeap, that's right. Something I tend to do is almost use the high end gear to sort of end up trading for items instead of selling.
For instance, buy things that are 5-6k caps and then sell the gear so I get my caps back. As a result the vendor gets a boost in caps for that short moment and I just get my caps back by selling the high level gear that I got from the Gun Runners in the first place. 👍
Does this only work with weapons? I tried it at the commissary terminal in the hopeville silo with the riot gear and it didn’t work.
This actually works with both weapons and armor, or rather it should do. I have done it myself using both weapons and armour.
I must have just slipped up somewhere thx :)
@@Markv423 No problem at all, I hope it works out on your end.
I was trying to do this in the sink to try and get some of my caps back from repairs I’ve payed for before, maybe I’m doing something wrong I tried it with an axe and for some reason it keeps on lowering the durability on the one I buy from it idek
Thanks for your comment, did you manage to get it working. Basically it's pretty much as shown as in you need copies of either the same weapon and/or armor and then repeat the pattern of buying/selling.
This is a really helpful glitch, but i have an even better one.
First you have to gather up 35'000 Caps second you have to change all of it into any casino chip.
If you drop such a big stack of chips you will see it'll become glitched.
If you look at the item it will say "-3204 chips" or somthing like that and if you pick up the stack it will give you minus 3000 chips, if you try to change them back to Caps it will give you these 3000 caps but it wont take anything from you so you can repete the prcess again and again the casheer will just give you more and more Money.
Its extreemly esey and there is no way to make more money.
Hey ExiledWarden, thanks for your comment. I actually know about that one but in the latest version of the game on PC am not able to reproduce it. Are you able to reproduce the glitch? I was able to without issue during the early years of the game but not in recent times.

Ok good luck
@@exiledwarden9598 do you play on Xbox one?
Can you redo the million cap glitch again or is it one time only glitch?
Nope, as long as you have the setup, you can do it as many times as you want.
maybe im late to these old glitches but correct me if im wrong my older cousin when i was 7 did something simllar on fallout 3 dose this glitch, work the same way as Fallout 3's Glitch
For the most part, yes. Both games run off (almost) the same game engine so the glitches in one game would work on the other also. Some very specific ones may not but most of them should.
It's fine though, cause you can just put that fully repaired weapon away and sell it permanently later to any vendor if you want. It's a good way to make money if you accumulate fully repaired weapons from doing this glitch & sell them.
Also I've learned if you go over a certain amount of buying things and letting the vendor's caps limit accumulate, the exploit will stop working. So that's a fair warning.
Thanks for your advice Zondra. I have to say it's not something I have seen yet but will keep an eye out for it. Good point, you can totally sell your fully repaired weapons later.
@@TrappedInFallout I accidentally bought stuff until the vendor passed 30000 caps, and tried to do the exploit. Nothing. The amount of his caps didn't change, but I still lost thousands of mine & had to revert to a save. So yeah, that barter exploit can break if you're not careful. XD
I'm not able to reproduce this in the Old World Blues add-on. Perhaps I am not doing it correctly?
Thanks!
There is no reason for it to not work. This glitch should world with all vendors as long as the conditions for the glitch are correct. When you say not working, what do you mean exactly? I can try to help as best I can.
@@TrappedInFallout Hello. Here is my experience in the Old World Blues add-on @ the Sink Intelligence Unit:
Starting values - Scientist Glove: $214 (in my inventory), $276 (in Sink Central Intelligence Unit inventory - there is only one Scientist Glove)
- I sell the glove for $214 to make two in their inventory
- The value of the glove turns to $448 in their inventory
- I buy my glove back and it turns to $132 in my inventory
- I sell the glove and it turns to $448 in their inventory
- I buy the glove back and it turns to $214 in my inventory
- If continue this, the value in my inventory alternates between $132 and $214 every other time and the value in their inventory increases to $448 every time
- I also tried this with other weapons and I get similar results.
It looks like the value maxes out in their inventory and reduces to either $132 or $214 in my inventory.

This seems like an incredibly useful glitch!
Hi Jurnee, I totally agree. It's easy to perform and can really help a courier out. As always, thanks for watching and for your lovely comment.
Gun runners just took my gun and didn't let me buy it back
Typically when you sell something to a vendor it does appear in their inventory so it should be there. If not then chances are it's glitched or bugged out. You can try reloading your save file and trying again to see if that helps.
Can you simplify it for me because I got confused and can you explain it steps and how to distinguish that's your weapon if you can thank you very much
Sure, I can try my best. You basically need a weapon that the vendor is also selling. You then buy the same weapon from the vendor and this sort of tricks the game and in turn your weapon in your inventory gets a free condition repair. You then sell your weapon back bu the game things you sold the weapon you brought. You then go back and forth until the vendor runs out of caps.
Can anyone tell me if im doing something wrong? When I sell the vendor my service rifle it shows up repaired in his inv
I think this is normal. If you buy is back then it should be repaired too. This is part of the glitch.
One thing I noticed by experimenting with this, is that the quantity doesn't matter, I traded 14 10mm smgs back and forth until I get a 25000 cap profit that I used to clear out SINK in OWB
That's a great observation, I will have to try it out myself and see what happens.
How did you get sink to work i can get like 2k profit then it just loops me back to the same amount of caps and dont go higher
@YeetMyer I basically end up buying and selling. I did start with my own amount of caps and the amount I get from the vendor just adds to that.
@@TrappedInFallout yea i repaired all my stuff and spent nearly all my caps (60k of 70k) and when i tried to do this glitch it only lets me get 4k caps from him so for example, im at 11k i do the glitch boom 13k do it again boom 15k but after that it stop, once i hit 4k profit the weapon i try to sell says i can sell it for 2k but when i sell it it doesnt give the amount of caps that it shows it sells for in the shop it says sell for 2k but only gives me 4-500 caps
@@YeetMyer So what I'm understanding is that you can't get as much cap difference as mine correct? So basically what I did, I had 10 10mm smgs that have 0 condition and 4 that have full condition, using the method moe demonstrated, you can sell all to the sink then re-purchase them, the catch is to only purchase the 0 condition ones, after you have purchased it, it then somehow becomes fully repaired in your inventory, now you can do this for all 14 smgs or just some to practice, now what you do is to sell these fully repaired smgs to then get the profit we're looking for. Hope this helps.

Yeap, that's right. It's a little random but a very pleasant gift for playing around with this glitch. I have tried it a few times myself, sadly it does not work with unique weapons since no vendor has another copy of a unqiue weapon....by design.

This glitch is interesting but takes time for such little pay out. I'd just do the casino chip glitch and with infinite caps you can always repair anything anytime you'd want.
Thanks Gecko, that's a very good point, the more caps you have, the less the need to do this glitch. I may look into that as a future video, many thanks for inspiring the idea.
@@Gecko_Kaiju Take a look 😀
Was pretty excited when found this out back in the day on my xbox. I had to scroll down to the item with higher durability after selecting the one I wanted to sell. Was actually possible to sometimes dupe items when this glitch was performed at least when you had several 10mm pistols in your inventory already at the same durability so they were stacked by quantity. May work with other items but that was what I had to sell when I stumbled on it when just wanted some .308 ap rds from the gunrunners robit
I know the feeling. It's a strange feeling when you do find something, look it up online and then find that others have found it too, sometimes by accident also. I personally go with anything as long as the conditions match up.
I’ve had weapons duplicate themselves randomly while doing the back and forth sell/buy with the merchant which always ends up being a bonus in the end.
Idk if it's cause I'm shunned but it didn't work for me
Didn't work in goodspring neither which im accepted at
This glitch is not related to fame or rep, its basically a glitch that's related to the condition of an item as long as you have the same item that a vendor is selling. It should work with anu vendor also.

You need to sell an item that the vendor is also selling. You also need to ensure that the condition of the item your selling is lower than the condition of the item the vendor is selling. When you then sell your item the game gets a little confused as to which is yours and which is the vendors and that's basically what is being exploited here.
@@TrappedInFallout im doing it exactly how the video is but when i get to the 3rd sell it just stops selling the item for what it says its supposed to sell for so from 11k to 13k then to 15k then the vendor doesnt give anymore caps like hes ran out but i can clearly see he has my 60k caps 😂
@@YeetMyer ah I see, that's interesting. I will put my hand up and say that I've never had that much caps transferring between myself and a vendor. Maybe there is a cutoff somewhere that is not apparent.

I don't think so. I don't play on console so I can't say for certain but as far as I know it's still a glitch on XBox.
@@TrappedInFallout I think its been patched atleast for the Xbox series X (backward compatibility) its alright though, i have 10 luck on my character and got banned from all the casinos lol.
@@hardipk5 ha ha a real world problem in the world of Fallout, having a high luck sometimes has its downsides.
Maybe I'm just unlucky...but it's either patched, or not working for me.
Sorry to hear that Travis. It is currently working for me, I was playing FNV last night. I am currently playing on PC with the latest patch and it's been ok for me. What platform are you playing on currently? I shall try to help if possible 😄👍
If you're on console then make sure you only have 1 version of the weapon you're selling to the vendor
@@beaversmouth4557 Thanks for sharing, I don't have a console so this is great to know from my perspective.
So this glitch... this happen for xbox 360 too?
Yeap, it should work across all platforms.
@TrappedInFallout excellent. Thank you my good sir
@@GenuineGuitar56 No problem at all 👍
@TrappedInFallout I kinda wish I found your videos 146 hours ago, especially the xp glitch, otherwise I wouldn't be at hoover dam with the legion already
@GenuineGuitar56 Ah I see. Not sure what to say other then I'm happy the CZcams Algorithm God's did thankfully push my video your way 👍
Lmk if anyone knows how to raise the vendors caps cause he only has 1000 caps for me so lmk
I think the cap raises as you level up in the game. At end game levels their caps can go all the way to around 8k.
Lmao this is my favorite exploit on Fallout 3 i just realized it works in new vegas too
It's amazing how some exploits and glitches work across both games. This is mostly because the games were made using the same base game engine. Buts its just cool when folks find a trick in one game and then try it out right away in the other. It's super fun to try out also.
Used dlc weapons didn’t work
@picksleet9268 It may not worked with DLC because of the number of weapons around. Did you try normal weapons?
Does this still works for pc in 2024?
Yes, this should still work as normal.
Do I need a dlc for this?
No you don't. This works in the base game.
There was a very similar glitch in fallout 3
Yes that's right and that's because both games were built using the same game engine. Thanks so much for checking out my video.
Great video I will try this one out. Hope this one works on Xbox. I've tried a lot of glitches but they seem to be patched or just don't work.
This is currently working for me. I'm planning on PC and running the latest patches and it's been OK on my side.
@tinkeredbot6063 Sorry to hear that, did you get it working on the end? I was playing last night and it was working well. Sadly I can't really be anymore specific then what shown in the video.
I just did the xp glitch you showed when You just start a new game. That one works like a charm. Thanks for the videos Ill try the vendor glitch again see if I can get it to work for me.😊
@@tinkeredbot6063 That's awesome, I'm happy that you have it working.
I tried the vendor glitch again and I got it to work. Thanks for the tips and videos
W video
Hey Alex, thanks buddy for your video. I really hope that you enjoyed this one and find it useful. Hopefully caps will not be an issue for you anymore.
Is that any vender?
Hey Neil, thanks for your comment. Yeap, the Protectron is the vendor and sells you some of the best gear in the Mojave Desert.
I wasn’t making any money and I realized it was cause the vender was broke asf💀
Yeap, they can not always be cap flow happy. But they restock in 72 in game hours.
Still work?
Yes, it still works.
Didn’t work with me
@@picksleet9268 When you say it did not work, what part?
I tried this and keep losing caps
Ah sorry to hear that. In order for it to work, you need to get the condition of the weapons to match as well as getting the same weapons. It's a tricky one in that you need the same weapon / Armor in your inventory as well as the vendors and then you also need the condition to be poorer than the vendors.
@TrappedInFallout understood thanks bro. I ended up doing the gun runner guard glitch with the casino chips haha. Thanks for your time!
@@mrdntgetshot2759 That's awesome, I'm happy that it worked out for you. Many thanks for watching and for your support.
Naw, Raul takes care of all my repairs.
Good old Raul, he is awesome. As it so happens there is a glitch with Raul where you can basically repair your kit for free ha ha.
@@TrappedInFallout
That's exactly what I mean. 😉
@@NoActuallyGo-KCUF-Yourself Awesome, I am not sure if it's something I have covered in one of my guide, I don't think I have so far but it's on my to do list ha ha. It's a sweet glitch 👍
I don't believe you.
@1:42 you can see the cheap rifle still in the vendor inventory, so it appears like you have actually bought the better rifle for the price of the cheap one.
@2:16 when you buy the "cheap" rifle back again, it is still in the vendor inventory AS WELL AS the original perfect condition rifle and there is now a third rifle involved. This is NOT the original perfect condition rifle because you can see the base value is not the same. Where did this new hunting rifle come from?
@2:27 it looks like you buy the original "cheap" rifle back for 584 BUT it is still in the vendor inventory and you have the third rifle in your inventory. ALSO notice that at this point, the vendor should have 6303 caps and you should have 5314 caps, based on your previous caps minus 584 / the vendor's previous caps plus 584 but instead, YOU have 6303 and the vendor has 5314.
For calculations sake:
The base value of your original cheap rifle is 455
The base value of the original perfect condition rifle is 2166
The base value of the third rifle is 2198
You buy for 128.4% of the base value
You sell for 71.56% of the base value
Where did the third rifle come from? Why do you claim that you are buying and selling the beaten up rifle when you are clearly not, as evidenced by the fact that it remains in the vendor inventory? While it may still be a glitch (or possible even a mod) you are grossly misrepresenting what is happening on screen. And as I stated above, @ 2:27, your caps and the vendor's caps have been swapped which is very suspicious.
Thanks for your detailed comment. I don't think anyone has taken the time to analyse one of my videos like this before, wow, thank you.
In the heart of the glitch it's pretty simple. You buy a lower condition of weapons and sell it right back. Prices change exact time you buy when you have two of the same weapons with different conditions as this tricks the game into knowing what condition to apply.
I can't get this to work on Xbox series X 😢
Try mixing up other weapons and armor and try at other vendors also. Sometimes this trick can be a little hit and miss. Let me know how it goes.
@@TrappedInFallout thanks Happy Xmas 🎄 and a happy new year mate
@majorlouis956 And the same to you Mt friend, happy holidays, happy Christmas, happy new year.
does this work in PS Plus?
I don't really see any reason for it not to. Given that the game versions are the same the glitch should work out of the box. Do let me know if it does not. Sadly I don't have a PS so I won't be able to confirm.
@@TrappedInFallout will do...I have beaten this game dozens of times on PC, thought I try it on Plus...but thanks
@@cashrjr23 No problem at all, do let me know though as I do get plenty of comments across platforms. If it works then it would be nice to confirm to anyone watching in the future if it's a yay or nay. Thanks.
@@TrappedInFallout yes it does work, but not as well...took about 5 times before it kicked in at Gun Runners...PS Plus is streamed and game is not as smooth as disc or PC version and loading screens are behind at times....thanks again

I am playing on PC myself and only tried this yesterday myself and it did work on my end. It should be working.

Would be cool if it worked
Sorry that's it's not worked for you, it should do. I was literally using this last night during my personal FNV playthrough. Perhaps it might be a platform thing, what platform do you play on. If PC then it should be good to go.
@@TrappedInFallout i was thinking the same thing it could be a platform issues that's another reason why I didn't dislike the video, it's not your fault if its not working for me you are just being very helpful
Thanks anyway though
@@getshrekt3228 Ah thank you so much for that and for your politeness, I truly appreciate it. I do try my best to make my videos as simple and easy as possible and at the same time there is only so much I can do given that I play on PC only. Strangely for the most part it should just because it's the same game with the same version, but sadly that's not always the case.
@@TrappedInFallout PS Plus?
@@cashrjr23 I suspect that might be where the glitch is not working but I would need Get Shrekt to confirm to be sure. Unless if you meant something else and I totally misunderstood your comment.
i dont think it works in 2024
It should still be working. I checked a few weeks ago on my own playthrough and it was working.
Does make sure you have only one of the item and trader has only one and you’re buying the correct item and not something similar
It works the game is buggy i still do it to this day

I accidentally duplicate my weapon while doing this glitch
Duplicates your weapon, that's interesting. I will have to see if I can do that myself. Thanks for sharing.
How haven’t I heard of this before 😐🫤😯😧🥱😤😮💨🤧
Ha ha its a pretty common glitch and somewhat helpful given you can do this with any vendor.
Do you need high barter?
No, a barter of any level should work.
@TrappedInFallout thanks I figured it out now I know why you recommended a low durability weapon
