Я представил на секунду, - Если б так собирали КТМ ? Наверное ездил бы долго... Так или иначе , Браво !
Just shows how good a 70s small Honda was. Nothing being built today can touch one of these for the price.

Wow so clean work place and no hazardous. Great 👍
antiquated assembly techniques, no flat washers, no Loctite, lack of hardened materials, no fuel injection, no torque specs, truly a 90 day engine....
My Best Wishes for METRO, They Progress more and more. Should Pay attention to PPEs / Workers Uniforms and Materials / Parts Conveying Systems. I wish to see Parts Production hope that Amazing Technology will do more. Thanks a Lot for this informative and useful Video.

yea "reliability" Xd sure
@@rik0_ Probably still more reliable than many other engines because where nothing is nothing can break, simplicity wins
Interesting seeing a bike built from scratch. I'm a retired motorcycle mechanic and we used to get Norton and Triumph bikes in crates from England, with some assembly required. Mostly we worked on Hondas, but other brands as well. Greetings from Australia.
Engine looks just like the mid 60's Honda's I worked on, hydraulic cam chain tensioner and drive for oil pump off cam chain.
It was common on C50, S65 (plus the C70 and later C90 when that came out in 70's)
S90 was similar but 'heavier duty' and could be overbored quite a bit
My sister could re-build her S90 engine in about the same amount of time. (with 4 brothers she had to)
Parts quality is obviously lower though you can see pressed parts are very flimsy
Even wiring is Honda colours, the only real difference is 12v and CDI !

I've never seen the water bath test before. That really doesn't seem like a good idea..is it a standard test?

@@1crazypj I really don't get why they would do it!
Nice to see people working, instead of robots. This factory is still building motorcycles from the the 1970s
Probably because labour is cheaper than automation in this particular country
Yes old tech but affordable for poor peoples sells only for usd,400.
Never compare every thing with west.
Average salary for a worker 150 usd a month ,so why to go for Automation thats ur requirement.
@@satraders9470 wish I could buy one, I like old school bikes
I'm not sure,, can robots assemble the engine.. i thought, that is still doing by mankind
I still own, maintain and use a Hero Honda CD 100, purchased in 1987, in India. Almost every parts and size in this video looked same. Needless to mention its simplicity, durability and efficiency. It is a wise choice of reengineering to offer the much needed social benefit.
I also thought that this looks a lot like a Honda licensed Bike. BTW it sounds as if there are Jawas working in the factory. 😆
I agree - Do not fix it if it ain't broke. Keep prices down and people mobile.

The care of assembly lubrication, and proper torque specs are phenomenal.
Looks like they're using pneumatic tools made to reach a certain torque figure.
torque specs are either "light blip on the trigger" or "give it all she's got until the compressor kicks in".
@@haywoodyoudome "Give it all she's got until the compressor kicks in" - Too funny, and too true. Those youngsters love that machine-gun rattle of those hammer-guns. It would be best to undo every improtant nut and bolt and re-torque them with your torque wrench before kilometre one.
@@glennnel3570 With the heavy pounding those pneumatic wrenches are capable of, the fasteners would have already been stretched beyond the specs (if there was any). So no point in re-torquing.
@@Wingedmechanic Very good point - I did not think about that. So I would need to replace the bolts (and/or bolt-studs) and the nuts before torquing them properly . . . Or maybe just leave good-enough alone and ride the bike like the thousands of other owners. Thanks for your comment though; worth remembering.
Finally, a real facility. No dirt floor out in the sun. Nice and clean unusual in most 3rd world shops

So clean, that was the first thing I noticed. Would like to have seen the engine run. The guy building the engine certainly knew what he was doing .
You have to give them credit, the workshop is clean and tidy unlike the disaster areas in other manufacturing establishments in countries such as this. I wonder what the lifespan of these bikes is, I'm guessing they would be a reasonable sort of budget machine.

Interesting, didn't notice pre oil bearings etc? or gasket sealant when assembling. Would like to have seen the motor run up and even a short demo off road? Maybe go to disc brakes. The engine assembler had it down- cool The water test was interesting ! Thanks!
Its based on the venerable Honda 50 motor. Assembly is done dry, no sealants. They never leak. Unlike anything made by Norton or triumph, those things have an automatic oil ejection ability.
Not a big fan of dunking the engine in water.
@@ricbarker4829 never ridden in the rain huh? Or thru a deep puddle?
It will do it no harm whatsoever as all the ports open to the outside world are sealed ( valves shut, air injected thru crankcase breather) best way to check all the seals are intact and if air can't get out, oil won't either. Very common method for checking seals.
@@mattyb7736 there is a big difference between a running hot engine in the rain and dunking a new engine completely in water and not knowing when it will be run. A lot of dissimilar metals in contact with no apparent lubrication now have moisture through them with the bike sitting around not running.
@@ricbarker4829 moisture is only on the outside, not internally. If you look, he even gets rid of the external moisture with an air gun. I use the same process for testing cylinder heads.

17:01 a fully enclosed chain, really good idea. I had a Bultaco Matador in my teen years and it had a similar thing, the difference being that instead of a large metal enclosure it had two tough rubber tubes and the tubes were packed with grease. I owned it for years and never once had to adjust the chain.

That keeps the sandal lashings from being caught in the chain when going through quality control.

The bike looks like a 70cc Honda cub clone that’s been restyled with plastics and gas tank. Very cool. We go on vacations and I always want to go see the little motorcycles. We don’t get these kind of bikes in the US.
Hats off to you and encourage you if all the pieces are made locally.
I would be happy working here, but I would implement a few simple quality control tips, and that is to always start fixings by hand before driving them home. There would be fewer stripped and weak threads meaning the bikes would have a better chance of successful servicing in a few years down the line.
They are probably getting a $1.00 and hour would you be concerned with quality control at a buck an hour

very interesting assembly line. anybody noticed the speed of the movement of the conveyor where the motorcyle is being assembled? I guess they have to keep up with the speed of conveyor as well otherwise they will slow down the build and disrupt the assembly of the next cycle in line.

No lube, no sealant, no threadlock, nothing torqued to spec. Quality stuff right there!
Yup, torque wrench built in with the impact gun. They stop one-half turn before the thread is stripped. They use the same slogan as FORD. Quality is job one!
A lot of times threadlock, if needed, is already on the bolts but most properly built an torqued engine don't new threadlocker. And if they have proper gaskets you do need sealant. And I saw red assembly lube on a couple of components.
And this Engine will outlast the other parts of the bike.....

The guy who building the engine is a genius
Honda was building this bike over 60 years ago and your bike with a few modern features still looks just like that one did in the early 1960s
No torque wrench, that's crap! No oil in the bearings and sensitive parts that rotate, which leads to damage on the first run, as the bearings run dry, which is noticeable in terms of durability. That doesn't compensate for the filling! But the engine builder is a very good person, I would hire him immediately.
I think I can see a lot of old Honda technology there. In itself a great motorcycle. we do something like that at the end of the 80s. I think there would also be a market in Germany. If the quality and the government requirements fit.
The actual casting look better quality than the 1960's Honda's.
Old Honda's always had 'streaks' from foreign material which is why they were always painted silver or had 'brushed' finish instead of polished (as a kid I tried)
The torque wrench is built into the pneumatic tools. So when you here the bolt being driven in then hear a chatter as it seats that's the wrench torqueing the bolt and no matter what you do the wrench will not drive the bolt in any farther. And the filled the engine with oil before cycling it. Often the use air to drive the engine to cycle the oil before running it on gas.
@@blister762 In principle you are right, there are compressed air screwdrivers with torque! But first of all, the screwdriver bits are changed here for other screws, is the torque always the same? Probably not! There is also no need to turn the screw further if it is in the correct position with the correct torque. In the case of an engine cover, for example, it is important that it sits evenly on the seal! On the subject of oil, bearings that are installed without oil run without lubrication until the oil pressure builds up, which is detrimental and can cause scoring, especially at the beginning where the fit is not given. It does not matter whether they are driven by the motor or compressed air. Incidentally, I hardly believe that such a backyard workshop has this possibility.
(Please forgive me I live in Germany) It may be that all this is local in terms of production, but this is not state of the art and simple improvement would not have been implemented! Just as they don't seem to implement what I'm writing in your head either. A few cents bring a big plus in quality
