Hey, y'all, great video as usual! As a board gamer who is also an avid disc golfer, just thought I'd chime in. A colossal number of courses across the world consist of 18 holes, each of which is often par 3, meaning the overall par for the course is 54. Therefore, a score of 58 is four over par or +4. Not great by PDGA professional standards, but a perfectly respectable score for amateur/intermediate players on most courses. Definitely not terrible. Hope this helps. :)
This is very true, but if you’re playing at a longer course with a few Par 4’s, 58 could be great! 😂

I'm glad people appreciate him and his picks are interesting. I personally found myself skipping his explanations often because he slows down the conversations too much for me. He does not have QST's imo :p

My top pick for this grouping is... 7 Wonders. The card drafting, higher player count, and timely play work well.
The top game I want to try is Orleans.
I can't decide which Uwe game to start with.
Wrymspan was the first time I enjoyed a tableau because I appreciate mechanics working with the theme, like dragons in caves.
I vote you are allowed to pick your own games. You gave a couple of reasons... ok with me.
Settlers of Catan is a modern classic... great memories with nephews and nieces... I have Settlers of Canaan for the Biblical theme.
I was doubtful about trying Castles of Burgandy because I don't enjoy lucky outcomes but this results in mitigation strategy I actually liked.

Who else took out their copy of 1001 Arabian Nights to look for Jason's name? Yup, right there on pg 17, pretty cool. That game also has one of the most beautiful boards ever made, imo. Up there with Merchants & Marauders and Rajas of the Ganges.
I never understood what "Dice Tower Essential" really is. Is it a label like SdJ or 'Seal of Excellence'? Or is it publishing/republishing/organizing reprint runs?
But in any case calling the ultra deluxe game "Foundations of Rome" essential is a very big stretch. :/ Especially when the normal retail version of it is on the way ("Foundations of Metropolis").
It’s a label meant to sell games. Thats a tad oversimplified but at the end of the day that’s all it’s for: marketing.
It’s a line of games Tom (and company) really likes.
Dice Tower Essentials is a line of games Tom started with Sheriff of Nottingham where he found games that didn't have wide distribution or an out of print game he felt could be reworked and promoted by Arcane Wonders and the Dice Tower. They're games he feels are great games for anyone's collections. Foundations of Metropolis is also a Dice Tower Essential game for the reason you mentioned. It's a solid game, but the cost/shelf space is prohibitive. But at the end of the day, it's still a game a lot of people have loved and so it's a great addition to the Dice Tower Essentials line. -Chris
You can always tell when someone had one or two bad plays that turned them off permanently from a game.

I like Jason's diversity of picks, but all he says about every game is "what an amazing game" and it doesn't matter whose pick it is.

Pro dragon and anti dragon sounds like a polarising political debate in a fantasy world. Like, their conservative party being strongly anti dragon and their liberals being pro dragon, otlr the other way round, funny anyway.
As far as I am concerned Jason could introduce himself without 'the gaming machine'. To me it sounds childish. But hey, that's me. However I would like to see more of him.
