  • Why Are American Men Dating Overseas in places such as Thailand, the Philippines, etc? Dating in Asia as a foreigner.
American men are increasingly looking eastward in their quest for love. A rising tide of romance-seekers from the States are finding their hearts ensnared by the charm of Southeast Asia, but what's behind this cross-cultural fascination?
Pull of the Exotic and the Enthralling
At the heart of this trend lies an allure towards the exotic and the novel. From the bustling markets of Bangkok to the tranquil beaches of Bali, Southeast Asia offers a distinctly different life rhythm compared to the usual hustle and bustle of American cities. These differences in culture, tradition, and lifestyle become a compelling curiosity that often morphs into deeper attachments.
    The Appeal of Traditional Values
At times, the charm lies not just in the exotic landscape but within the cultural fabric itself. Southeast Asia, with its tapestry of rich traditions and values, often holds appeal for those who feel that Western societies are drifting away from family-centered life and values. These men are often attracted by the perceived strong emphasis on family and relationships in Asian societies.
    Economic Advantages
One cannot overlook the economic motivations behind such cross-continental romance. Cost of living and relative wealth can be influential factors. Some American men find that their dollar stretches further in Southeast Asia, allowing for a better quality of life and the potential for securing a comfortable future together with their chosen partner.
    Dating Dynamics
The dating scene in America can be fraught with complexity and confusion. On the flip side, some men find that dating dynamics in Asia are more straightforward, making the process less stressful and more enjoyable. This, combined with the warmth and hospitality common in Southeast Asian cultures, makes for a tantalizing mix.
    Online Connectivity and Globalization
In an age of increased connectivity, meeting someone from a different continent is just a few clicks away. Online dating sites and apps have played a significant role in fostering these international connections. As globalization advances, so too does the fusion of cultures and the breaking down of barriers to international romance.
    Paradise or Mirage?
This romantic quest overseas isn't always without its pitfalls. Language barriers, cultural misunderstandings, and differing expectations can create tension. It's critical for those seeking love in Southeast Asia to approach the journey with an open mind and a willingness to understand and embrace the cultural nuances.
But on a counterfactual note, had the internet not revolutionized our world, would we see such a trend? The ease of global connectivity has certainly amplified the international dating scene. What once might have been rare and exceptional, now is commonplace and increasingly the norm.
This shift in romance geography offers a vibrant and fascinating window into the ever-evolving dynamics of human relationships. It underscores the fact that love knows no boundaries, and for many, the quest for companionship will always chart its own course, no matter how unexpected the journey might be.
From this perspective, it’s clear that while American men seeking love in Southeast Asia may be drawn by a blend of novelty, tradition, economics, and the modern dating scene, ultimately, they're just like anyone else in the world - trying to find a place where their hearts feel at home.

I learned from men like you, as a Millenial. I agree with the idea that women in the West are not worth the effort anymore, especially after all the negatives that come with even the most basic relationship with a Western woman, which gets worse as more the depth is added to the relationship. I have been the guy no Western woman wants for a long time, while watching the men in my life that women 'want' get completely used, destroyed, and discarded like trash by the same kind of women I once wanted to marry and start a family with. What I once thought was a curse turns out to have been a major blessing. I have since then found a good woman from Eastern India where Feminism hasn't begun an infestation, and now I am genuinely happy. Unfortunately, I have to bring her back to the US so we can complete our ambitions before we can leave the country, but she has already agreed to be a stay-at-home mother, and while she still wants to work due to cultural reasons, she has also agreed to work from home.

I'm 63. I have been married to a Filipina for almost 6 years. My ex-wife was from the U.S., like me, but our marriage was a nightmare. I've dated many women, and never had trouble finding a date. I stopped dating American women because so many of them are entitled, argumentative, and made me realize I was happier being single than being with them. I finally went to the Philippines and met my wife. I have 2 other American friends that also married women in the Philippines, and both of them have never been happier. My wife is college educated, and didn't need me to bring her out of poverty. She is traditional, and I am 1000 times happier with her than I ever was with an American woman!

I'm in my 30's, am in great shape, eat right, have a healthy dose of confidence and charisma, and look like I'm in my 20's. I used to be able to go around and approach people that I thought looked cool, interesting, or cute (in the case of girls). I'd usually get positive reactions and had many fun conversations, made lots of friends, met girlfriends, went on impromptu adventures, insta-dates, and overall had many very positive experiences. Sure, there'd be guys who were dicks and girls who wanted nothing to do with me, but overall, it was fun and positive.
I went overseas to Asia for a few years and found that it was even better! I felt so carefree and had many experiences of going out at the beginning of the night with no plan, talked with and met people and had awesome adventures.
Then I came back to the US...and uh...things had changed. Suddenly girls were on the defense. Even if they seemed to be enjoying the interaction, they would never follow it up with a number or anything. Girls I met at places I frequented, like the gym, would act very outgoing and playful, then do a 180 and avoid me the next time I saw them.
Suddenly I was being told that I "made girls feel uncomfortable" for making jokes or lightly flirting. I got kicked out of places and ostracized. Not once did I touch anyone or make any dirty or sexual comments. No, it's just that being a man and playfully flirting is now "toxic masculinity" and is unacceptable.
I blame the woke left, the 4th wave feminism and MeToo movement for painting men as predators and toxic, making it impossible to approach someone and connect on a human level. But in Asia, men can still be men and it's no problem. So yeah, if you're a guy in the West, GET OUT and move to Asia. You won't regret it.

Foreign women have a personality trait, that's not as common with Western women. Especially with online dating.
Guys don't want "independent" women because of all the meme-level expectations. And if he runs out of money, or nudges her the wrong way: She packs up and leaves.
They want a woman who will actually be there. And recognize an important situation when it happens. Somebody who can actually validate them as a human being. Along with a genuine sense of honesty.
And you usually end-up with children who are smarter. Because the women they marry are more mature.
Some guys in the West feel disillusioned with online dating. And they think they won't find it in their country. So, they look for it somewhere else.

At 0:25 you say it is not just the US, what you didn't elaborate is that those other nations you listed are all considered WESTERN nations, more specially of the Anglo-speaking West. Ask yourself if there is a commonality occurring in the English-speaking West that is causing males of all ethnicities to look to Asia for marriage material.
Also, at 4:30 hit on a VERY important point, one which is the crux of why East Asia tends to be more stable in the long-term. Confucius said it best: "The Strength of the Nation is derived from the integrity of the family". Confucius was born the illegitimate son of a noble lord. Unlike many such men, he wanted to prevent others for experiencing the broken family environment he lived. There is a reason why Confucius is considered the pinnacle of Asian philosophical thought.

      1. WESTERN culture is in decline everywhere. This is why some folks think the USA, Europe, and Canada will cease to be dominant economically in the coming future. (I disagree, because while the West is in decline, it is still, "the best house in a crappy neighborhood.")
      2. I was raised by both parents stressing the primacy of the family unit. As this tends to rely on gender roles, the nuclear family is under attack as being oppressive, or something. Madness if you ask me, but I guess if folks want to live in chaos that is their choice.

There is a reason why South American economies crumble when they put kleptocratic left-wing politicians in power. From Hugo Chavez and Maduro in Venezuela to Lula da Silva in Brazil, the continent can't seem to get the monkey off their back.

Nothing has to be wrong these days, if a woman is tired, bored, lonely, feeling down, encouraged by her friends or thinks life is greener on the other side of the fence, she will throw it all away on a whim and seek to "upgrade". Then she'll complain when there is no "upgrade" or even what she had before any more, then she decides it's a man's fault she made that decision and took those actions...
Now who wants to be on the receiving end of that...

For all my life, this is the kind of lifestyle everyone I knew expected to be. From college years through old age. Now, I'm not able to work, therefore, being a "bread winner" is no longer an option. Women in Western countries are more money motivated & materialistic than the rest of the entire world! If you want a woman that is interested in you a man, Asia is the best place to be- I know - I have traveled extensively and I made the decision to buy a place there to stay at least 6 months out of the year. I’m also selling one of my 3 homes in the USA not because I can’t get beautiful women here but because I don’t like their mindset & the onerous laws on their behalf! Better Women, Better Times, Better Lives, Better Laws Overseas! No BS. No Liabilities. ✅

After my wife of fourteen years filed for divorce, after cheating on me, i was devastated. Fourteen years of marriage and two children, were thrown away like it was nothing. Some time after the divorce I dated American women, and got the same response from them. American women believe marriage is some sort of trap for women. I stumbled across some foreign websites and began talking to a foreign woman. No, she wasn't eighteen years old, and in fact she had two children like me. I flew to her country and we married. Eleven years and counting, and we are in still love.

I'm 27, I had dated several times, had several relationships, the longest I had was 2 years and only lasted that long because I didn't waver my traditional values. But she didn't, she immediately wanted to get married 3 months in, I didn't allow it, she wanted to move in immediately and have children 6 months in our relationship, I didn't allow it because we were not in the time to have all of that and as I told her I first have to live with her for 1 year before even considering marriage or kids but had to date her at least 6 months to allow living together. As that's how my parents did it "old school way".
She was perusing nursing during this time so it's another reason why I didn't want to do what she wanted, I told her first to focus on graduating or prioritize being a traditional wife for me to consider children or marriage as it's an expense I have to think about and take care of it. She didn't like it on how strict and structured I was being, called me controlling and a monster. When all I was doing is making sure we have less things to stress about and be able to fully put our attention and effort rather than have it split; I didn't want to be like my parents where I had them both until I was 5 years old because then we moved into a house that we can barely afford, and my mother going to college, forced both of my parents to work, so I barely saw them.
I grinded hard at work to be able to help her pay for nursing, we went out on dates and several good entertainments. I was going to take her to our first big trip to a crusade from the U.S to Hawaii and propose to her. But beforehand I had dark month where everything was going wrong for me, long story short I broke down, it took me that whole month to recover, afterwards I got back on my feet quickly, the sad part was during that dark month she cheated on me just because I was not the man, she thought I was. I did everything what I could for her the several times of her breaking down for 2 years, but I had only 1 for a month and stabbed me on the back with no hesitation. I could've cheated on her several times with women who were way hotter than her, but I didn't because I was loyal.
At the end I dodge a bullet, I tried dating several times and I'm disgusted on how women are nowadays. Even the woman at work that I flirted with chose the other guy than me but then wanted me so much because the guy pumped and dumped her, got knocked up by him and she tried to pass/trap me with the baby, hahaha... no, I aint raising someone's child because she couldn't keep her legs closed.
The amount of single mothers that hit on me and only want me because I'm financially stable and got things in order is baffling, it's even more baffling because the ones that are not single mothers don't give me a shot because I hit every of their criteria but 1 which is earning 6 figures, but when they find out what I really have, oh they come at me so fast but nope I won't put up with it. The amount of women still acting like highscool girls is seriously alarming... and they say us men should grow up?
I know I have vented/ranted quite a bit but to end it off, I at the age of 27, I'm tired of dating women in the west. I got my passport, got some things in motion but coming October I'm flying oversees and saying goodbye to the women in the west.

    Here is the difference:
Western Women: what is in it for me?
Foreign: what can I do for him?
    West: individualism is cherished
    Foreign: Relationship is the goal
    West: Masculine women, feminine men
    Foreign: feminine women, masculine men
As an American when I am with a foreign woman I feel appreciated, cherished and there is honor in how she treats me. None of that happens in the West. When she held all the leverage I got nothing but abuse, I felt used and taken advantage of. Now that I have the leverage, I am going where I feel appreciated and my options are much better. Going to Asia is one of those places.

It might also be that she is the same age as me and we like similar music, movies, videogames, and clothing (the Chinese entertainment she grew up with and recommended is outstanding), but she holds the same values as me. I had a very hard time, even as a fit, educated, somewhat well to do guy, meeting western women who valued things like civility, cleanliness, selflessness, self-reliance, and the mundane. It's so refreshing to have a conversation with someone so grounded that they notice things like pretty clouds and a nice breeze. She has her quirks, and there are things she doesn't like about me, but our relationship is just about as close to what I envisioned for myself based on the relationship my parents have with each other: my best friend is my partner.

The main reason for that is the lack of religious faith and spirituality in modern society compounded with modern women thirst for liberation, liberty and freedom to do whatever they want. The common point about women in southeast asia is that most have been raised under strict dogma of religious rules and dedication toward men and the nuclear family, which is the polar opposite of what modern women aspire to be. My only fear is that we will reach a point where women would have to pay men services and attention like it is the case in Asian countries with too much western influence ( japan, south korea)

There is no real regulation about gender equality, because there can never be true equality, but both men and women are equal in Asia because both gender play their respective roles in the family.

Many asians in western countries, send much of their income to their home country to fund education, medical needs, and upgrading family housing. They receivers may keep the pressure going in order to fund a relaxed lifestyle. One person told me 10 people were living off the monthly remittance of $500 and there was no incentive to get jobs.
Not saying it in all cases... "Family focused" -> blood bonds are stronger than marriage bonds.

She will then attend to all your needs you want to shop she will take you to the best value similarly for a meal she knows the best and cheapest. She wont be put off if you take her to a more upmarket restaurant. like all affairs it is about give and take. and they are adapt at this. She will quickly now your worth how much of a budget you are working on and she will adapt to that. No complaints all with a smile she has the real target you. She will then look to to see if you would come out again if its going well and you would like to see her again. make or break time. you have to realise that she has to make money for her family and herself. So you have to realise this and work out if you can cope with this. If she is the one then start setting parameters. I have been in several countries overseas from the U.S. Those countries in Europe, where the mainstream population is predominantly Caucasian, the women seem to be much like the women in the U.S, regarding what they look for in a man. In Asia, the women seem to be looking more for a better quality of life. Women overseas, in general, have this Hollywoodesque vision of what life is like in the U.S. There are women of some means in all countries. They may or may not be looking for a husband. They are the haves. In the U.S. it makes no difference if the women are haves or have nots. They are all mostly looking for the most they can get in a man. They try to 'dress to kill,' many time showing more skin than is necessary, showing off their best physical attributes. They become very upset if they are called out for what they are obviously doing and insist they are doing it to make themselves feel beautiful. But they blast a man for saying they look beautiful; a man is only objectifying them as sexual. I'm finished with American women, for that matter, most Caucasian women.

If I meet a slim, HWP, semi-attractive woman, she will be married or have a boyfriend. Every time. Sometimes she'll have 2 boyfriends and a bunch of guys in her friend zone. You can't win that game, she's got too many options and the idea in her head is "what have you done for me lately?"

You could be all-around average man, but because you have been subjected to so much negative reinforcement through mainstream media, you could feel less than worthy... an American woman will feel the same way about themselves, you get together and then, when things get difficult, they just split, typically it's the woman who splits, typically because they want to trade up. I had many American girlfriends throughout my life, the girlfriends raised by parents from different countries or the women who were originally from other countries were the sweetest, kindest, most loving and respectful and appreciative and they never gave up on the relationship!!! Fat chance finding an American woman who is like that!!!

It's always "men want a pretty, submissive woman." The reality is that some older men want this, but the much more common thread is a meshing of values. We want partnerships and lasting stability with shared goals.

Now almost all Filipino women want to marry foreigners which we call the term "Afam" to improve their lifestyle and escape poverty.

I'm a Filipina with an American boyfriend. When my BF came here to see me, he thoroughly enjoyed his vacation since his money afforded him experiences here in the PH that would've been costly in US and it is possible to buy a piece of land in PH for as low as $6000.
I have American women friends my age too, and even young, conservative, family-oriented American women have a hard time finding a husband in America. As per my observation, even the most traditional and religious woman believes in the idea of the feminist equality of sexes and often have poor taste in men, either having ridiculous standards of what they want in a husband, but at the same time dating dudes who end up making them single mothers. Not all, but most.
The reason why I date American men is due to my own personal preferences, not exactly money. Other Asian men (especially East Asian men) are equally financially secured, if not more, but its due to the cultural and aesthetic Eurocentric standards too that make white men desirable to Asian women.

I will discourage my sons from dating women who grew up in a western household. I want better for them.

The concept of western woman is that being a traditional wife means degrading themselves, which is wrong. I come from a more traditional women country and that doesn't stop them from pursuing a career and actually do both almost at the same time. I agree that this approach is more difficult to tackle, but the western woman is taught to believe that she can't do it and actually pursue a man she can grow with. When they do get married, often times is for some sort of convenience or just don't want kids and the legal system gives them too much if that marriage ends. The whole feminist movement is also forcing and manipulating those western woman who actually want to be traditional to be more like them. The fact that they choose to say that these foreign traditional women are less educated and using western men is wrong. These traditional asian, latinamerican and other women have far better bedside manners, home education and lack that arrogance these western women have.

I might be interested in being interviewed. Depends on the situation. But I am usually good in the spotlight.
