The Spanish walk is a gait that is developed from the School walk, which is a very collected walk that becomes almost two beat. The Spanish walk is slower and with much more lift than the school walk and is generally viewed as non classical and more of a trick. The Spanish walk is however very useful for elevating the shoulder and to help with developing the Passage. On top of that it can improve the gait of any horse and the horses seem to enjoy the movement. In this video I move through the steps quickly to give you an idea of how the Spanish walk develops. But to get a really good Spanish walk, it is important that you take your time training the horse to lift each leg well and then finally combine it for only a few steps at a time and build one step at a time. the goal is to get the Correct Rhythm without Hesitation for it to be a true Spanish Walk. Enjoy!
