See a pair of big 500 plus horse power Challenger tractors prepare a Western Kentucky field for 2018 corn seeding. This Big Tractor Power video will discus the history of Challenger tractors from 1987 through 2018. Big Tractor Power takes viewers out into the field to see and hear a brand new 550 hp AGCO Challenger MT965E 4wd and a classic 500 hp AGCO Challenger MT865 tractor on tracks working side by side with big tillage implements. - Auta a dopravní prostředky
No nonsense, no politics, or personalities just the facts great videos. Thank you
I still go back to watch this video from time to time I was the one running the mt965e tractor that day in the field and for everyone saying something about the psi in the tires that tractor is normally on a ktech 28 yard dirt pan but in this case we put it on the turbo max so that btp could get a video of the new machine running in a field
My past Grandfather who used to farm would be amazed at the size of the machines now days great video.
They just keep getting bigger and bigger.
Always love your indepth narration. From Kenya
Great video. Love the Challenger tractors. Challenger wasn’t actually the first company to use rubber tracks, Oliver was using them back in the 40s but had problems with the tracks stretching since rubber technology wasn’t as advanced at that point
Interesting info. Thank you.
bigtractorpower there’s a farmer around here who’s father and grandfather only farmed with Oliver cletracs who told me about them. They had bought one new but due to the rubber issue were recalled and replaced with steel tracks

That turbo whistle sounds good
Thank you BTP for another great video. It’s machines likes these that account for the continually increase in agricultural output of the American farmer.
Another fine video of the Challenger brand name working America's great farms.
Thanks for the video. It's going to be awhile for spring field work for us in northeastern Wisconsin because we just got around 30 inches of SNOW last weekend.
Crikey those Challengers can pull!
Nice video and great machines!! Greets Stefan

Just bought a MT955c and man it can pull
Very cool. They are solid tractors.
Thank you for the video
Always enjoy a agco. Great video.
The tracks are pulling a much wider implement makes more sense. Blessings from South Africa 🇿🇦
Whoa! I had no idea these were v12's. Quite the departure from the more common i6's.
The farmers I have filmed really like the AGCO engines in the E series. They are more fuel efficient, have more toque and run quieter.
Спасибо за видео 🙏🙏🙏🙏
Very good video can really see the difference on wheel slip on the tire machine vs the track machine thanks for sharing
Thank you for watching.
NICE UPDATE, always interesting !!!! KEEP THE DUST FLYING !!!!
Thank you for watching.
Thank you big tractor power you are the best we own a john deere 9460r
The 9460R is a nice tractor. I have filmed a 9460R on triples.
Are 9460e has dulls
Very nice video! Thanks for posting.
Thank you for watching.
Nice video, awesome combinations and great tractors! Thanks for posting!
Thank you.

Great vid I not seen new challenger with wheels in field yet thanks👍
This was my first time to see a wheeled one with the new E series black trimmed hood. I filmed a tracked MT875E with the new hood in 2017.
They is a farmer close to where i live that had the cat track tractor like the one in the video nice looking tractor close to the time it was made. Thank you BTP
Thank you for watching and sharing.
They also look great
another good video after hearing the commentary about how challenger came about a orphan tractor series would be cool. Olver's, Minny's, Allis, and gasp even Ford might be cool to see the history's traced and talked about
I do have plans to do more company and merger history.
nice I can't wait
Deutz-Allis will probably be the next.
That should be pretty interesting
Just need a 1050 working with them. LOL Great video!!!
A 1050 would look out there.
Not a lot of those Agco V12s out to see so thats almost got to be a rare find here in the USA lol since i know they use that engine in SP forage harvesters in europe
There have been some MT800E and MT700E models with AGCO engines here in WKY. So far everyone likes them. More fuel efficient, quieter and more torque.
Have you Found any New Holland Forage Harvesters with the Iveco V8 Yet ??

CAT is an great machine that's why challenger is also an great machine
Very Nice Video!!!
Thank you.
The JD cultivator behind the tracked machine is going to lose a wheel(left outside front) before too long(bearing issue). Interesting that the 500 hp tracked machine can pull (2) 45ft implements and the 550 hp wheeled machine is pulling a single 35 ft implement.
My 30' turbo max pull harder then my 32' field cultivator but i ran at 10/12 miles/ hours with the turbo max vs 7/9 m/h for the field cultivator, faster then that the field cultivator dont do a great job but I could probably pull it faster then the turbomax
Challenger Power! 👍
Some cool rigs for sure! Just wish they had kept using CAT engines in those tractors though!
Having been around the new E series on wheels and tracks the owners have said the AGCO Power models are more fuel efficient, have more torque and run much quieter than the B and C series.
bigtractorpower speaking of fuel efficiency, do you know how many gallons of diesel per hour those tractors were consuming pulling those implements? A gestimation is fine.
You're right BTP. AGCO Power engines are setting the industry standard and are a force to be reckoned with. Love the video. Those tinted windows make that thing fierce looking!
@@davidlamb6342 13 gallons an hour would put you in the ballpark
Thanks again. I wish you could show those big engines from time to time. I wonder how much the fuel consumption varies between these two big tractors. Does the new tractor have auto steer?
Me diz uma coisa esse 965 fábrica ainda 🇧🇷
Nice challenger
The MT900s are cool machines.
All challengers are cool
SWEET.
Thank you for watching.
From the UK.
Nice vid man.
Thank you for watching.
Great challenger💪👍
It would be really cool to see a 900 series with row crop tires. Maybe even pulling planter.
It would be. So far AGCO has not offered a row crop set on the MT900 like the 9Rs and Steigers do.
I think it was in late 2001 when Caterpilar sold Challenger.Remember seeing the MT800 at 2002 Farm Progress Show shortly after they were introduced. Can the dark glass in the MT965E cab be ordered that way?Nice seeing something different.
The announcement of the sale of Challenger took place on December 17, 2001. It became official for model year 2002. The farm tinted the windows.
Also I believe the Challenger was actually designed for a Boeing's contract that was in a defense contract to pull mobile LaunchPad
Wow, not often u see vertical tillage along side conventional tillage. You would think the great plains would be able to go a lot faster. Never seen one go that deep either
They are working river bottom ground. Farms here like to work it up well. These machines are mainly working up and loosening the soil. The water sitting on it all winter really hardens the surface.
Thanks for sharing this awesome video.
Btw. too much tire pressure on the 8 wheeler. Are they not concerned about slippage and compaction?
If they are planting behind the guys working ground, wouldn’t it make a difference in seed beds using two different styles of ground prep equipment?
Normally they run the Turbo Max first and the field cultivator second. I asked if they could run side by side for a pass to create this video clip.
bigtractorpower , sorry for asking a dumb question, it never crossed my mind they were helping you out, thx for the video. Love the trac machine.
I never knew that! - awfully nice of them though! Now, are you going to return at Harvest time and / or during crop growth to investigate any differences in crop performance? Now THAT would also be (Seriously ) educational ! I see Spring at that location is no further forward than here in N Uk! Been a bit of surface water run-off there, too. Lot of snow? Regs.
Not a dumb question at all. Good way to learn about the field work.
After the side by side pass the tractors separated and went back to normal operations. I am sure they just ran back over the side by side area again to work it the regular way. I live 110 miles from this field so it is unlikely I would be there the day they harvest those passes.
Challenger look very impressive
They are well built machines.
Neat tractors a dealer just opened up down here in mayfield Kentucky a couple years ago not too far form us
It’s a nice dealer. I made a video of the Mayfield Whayne Supply. See it at m.czcams.com/video/1tUv1kj4qx8/video.html
Aren't they making different kind of tillage? one with a disks and the other with chisels? Great video by the way
Best tractor made
They are impressive.
Your engine info on the 865 is wrong, if it's an e it has a 16.8 v12 also, if it's a c model or older it's a 18 liter inline 6 with 525 hp, best engine ever.
The 865 is a 2004 model. It’s an original MT800 before the B, C, E1 or E2.
+bigtractorpower I see you were able to film a Challenger MT900E! It is a sweet looking tractor. Very nice video!
Thank you. I was exited to see a new E series 4wd working in the field.
I love cat chalanger
I'm not sure but I believe that Challenger was not sold to avco it was traded for stock please check on that for me
Muito legal
Hello Bigtractorpower,I like the Challenger whit Caterpillar Engine!m.v.g.Simon Lich Oostwold Oldambt Netherlands
Thank you. It is an honor to have viewers from other parts of the world. I hope to visit the Netherlands some day. It looks like you have lots of interesting farming.
Yes👍!
Do you know if the MT965E came with that dark tint on its windows, or it was done via the dealer or operator?
The farm added the window tint.
who very nice
V12 nice
very nice i like you
the windows are very dark

The question remains though...where do we go from here?.These things didn't exist when I was younger. It was rare to see anything larger then a 5020.If you saw a dualed-out J.D.6030,that would be the talk-of-the-town.If you saw a 8020,all heads looked your way. Now,they build lawn mowers bigger then that.HAHA!!.
The tractors now take up two lane highways and what's in store for tomorrows tractors?.How much bigger are they going to get?.The
"Big-Bud"series was very short lived, but ahead of its time so far as big-time farming is concerned...could the"Big-Bud"with its V-16 twin-turbocharged engine and goliath size make a"big come back"?.Time will tell I guess.🚜
12 cylinder?? Why sounds to me like Deere’s V8 years ago.. And I own a 75C challenger
I would like to find some of Challengers like the 75C to film. So far I hear very good things on the AGCO engines. A farm I know well has an MT875E with the AGCO 12. There starting there second season with it. They were apprehensive to move from Catapillar engine to AGCO. They have found the MT875E has more torque, runs much quieter and burns much less fuel. In their MT875B and MT875C they added two extra fuel tanks and have not needed the extra fuel capacity on the MT875E.
You got a wheel bearing out.....
I am glad they hear going. I drove 100 miles to film these tractors. Down time for a repair really hurts.
I guess the track tractor won't work to good in a row-crop application.
Not this one. It had wide tracks for tillage. You can get narrow tracks for side dressing on some large 4wd size track machines.
Just what that field needs; more tillage. It's already crusted over and doesn't have a desirable structure. Not to mention it's too wet, so say hello subsurface compaction. Makes me cringe.
It is a river bottom. Farms in this area work the ground up pretty good ahead of seeding.
