My car stopped afterwards. It's been like this for 2 days now. All windows down. ALL the power is knocked out. I don't know what to do.

What about over heating ? And can it cause a leak in the head gasket? I’m not getting any leaks except a boiling coolant tank.

A head gasket can be a cause in some cases. Check the oil often there is water in the oil if there is a head gasket leak.

@@HVAC_Mechanic thank you, forgot about the oil, I’ll check that today, if the hasn’t taken it on a shopping spree.

Why is my radiator hose have tons of pressure on it? I have a 1.8 cruze and right off the thermostat the hose has so much pressure its unreal I bought a new coolant tank and cap.

It sounds like it is overheating, which can be caused by several things. The radiator cap should let some pressure escape when it gets too high unless it has gone bad. Auto parts stores would have a pressure test kit if you wanted to test the system and see how high the pressure is.

My issue is that the car can idle for hours just fine. I can drive it at 30-40 mph, again, just fine. Took it on the highway and gage stayed below mid for a bit at 60-70mph and suddenly just shot to max temp. Pulled the car over and shut it off, popped the hood and seen the overflow bubbling for roughly ten minutes then it stopped. Restarted the car and temp was normal again until i took it back on the freeway and same scenario occurred.
Edit because I forgot to add that this was an auction car bought by my boss with a known overheat issue, diagnosed misfires on 2 and 3 and determined head/head gasket. Tore engine to short block, straight edged the head and block with excellent tolerances, replaced head gasket and reassembled. Misfires gone and runs like a champ. until the above mentioned issues.

That is strange, almost sounds like the transmission is causing things to overheat, but I think an error would come on if it was.

@@HVAC_Mechanic I typed that comment during my lunch break. When I went back to work I pressure tested the cooling system again and crawled under the car and waited til i seen a drip from just above the catalytic converter... I'm of the mind that it is the oil cooler seals or the turbo cooler lines/seals. Will know more Monday when i tear the cat and turbo out.

@@HVAC_Mechanic just thought I'd provide an update... the problem, and most likely culprit as to how the previous owner blew the head gasket in the first place, ended up being the thermostat. The safety flow hole in the thermostat allowed it to stay cool at idle but wasn't sufficient under normal freeway driving conditions.

Hey Brian, not sure if you will see this before I actually fix this 2012 cruise im gonna work on but same issues as you described although im not sure if it overheats at idle after a long period but seems to overheat and boiling the coolant in reservoir. The gauge will climb up a little then go all the way hot as it can and they have replaced the thermostat it does loose coolant not like alot and it will overheat even when it is full of coolant. Im thinking water pump? Let me know if you have any ideas

My car was over heated & I took it to the shop & they change all that but I got my car from the shop yesterday & I drove it home & it overheated again idk what else to do so I will take it back to the shop again what should i say to them or ask for

    • @HVAC_Mechanic

If they changed out everything listed in the video, it might have a bad head gasket. With the parts they swapped out, they should have an idea of what it would be.
