- November 17 is the anniversary of the 'Velvet Revolution' in Czechoslovakia when in 1989 after massive protests in the country the Communist regime stepped aside and a democratic government has been elected. This regime change is unique because it has been entirely bloodless, unless the first act of police brutality in dispersing the student meeting on November 17, 1989. The similarities between the Velvet Revolution and the Revolution of Dignity in Ukraine in 2014 were discussed with the Deputy Ambassador of the Czech Republic in Ukraine Jiri Preclik. As well as other topics, such as the peaceful dissolution of Czechoslovakia into sovereign states of Czech Republic and Slovakia respectively.

Thank you Czech Republic for all your support! 💙💛
Czechs and Slovaks have still quite vivid memory of what "Russian peace" truly means. Basically what happens now in UA was about to unfold in CS back in 68 should previous generation has chosen to resist the invasion. Except there were no western nations, that would dare to back us up back then. We would be on our own.
The premise was also practically same with Russians claiming to be liberating us from western Imperialists.
Great talk!!!
Doing the right thing.
Czechs and Ukrainians are real Slavic brothers and sisters. Hope the v4 becomes v5 with Ukraine as a member soon…
Still V4, Hungary needs to leave...
@@badysparta Prague 4 has a better ring to it than Visegrad 5...
Thank you for sharing this historical video.
What a great interview and all previous USSR communist nations have to come forward and tell their stories how it was to live under Ussr regime and under communism and how difficult it was to throw them away and become free Democratic countries. More depth on the history would be more effective to West that never lived under Russian boot.
Excellent topic! The world can learn a valuable lesson from The Velvet Revolution
Thank you for this ....good interview and history lesson ....thx to Czech Republic
Long live a free Ukraine 🇺🇦
Czechoslovakia is a great country...
Czechoslovakia doesn't exist for 30 years, you know...
@@badysparta No,its still exist...
@@badysparta but it does exists now...
Russia used to occupy those countries, but Russia is puré corruption and bullshit, so they are only entitled to burn...
You have to learn to write in English...
@@4metroscuadrados What are you talking about? Czechoslovakia split 30 years ago. Only Czech Republic and Slovakia exist now.
Thanks for this intelligent discussion. Mr Shtelmakh is an excellent interviewer. (Had to scroll back to get his name.) When Mr Preclik said "The Ukraine Question" my reaction was "what question?" but I can't think of a better *short* way to label this attempt by Russia to reconsolidate its empire.
sadly, the regime change will not go over bloodless in russia.... wich is a shame for the ordinary people!
This interview is really good and comprehensive. Just one notice to have correct vocabular further on is here with under;
Intelligence is in UA the SBU, RU FSB and Tjeck BIS.
Intelligentsia RU; avangard, UA; Provsita etc

Lesson for Seczch and Slovakia has never old until today 💙💛
