Frank and Vern rarely came up with something people didn't love. Watched this show every time.

I watched this show every day after school before it became super popular. Looking at these designs, though... 😬 What the heck were we doing back then? 😂

It’s kind of shocking how humble the homes are. Seems like all the home shows and Instagram esthetic now has us convinced everyone lives like millionaires.

I am thoroughly convinced that they found people who are planning to move and are selling their homes “as is”.
that’s the ONLY way someone could be excited about these “makeovers”.

I miss this all so much. My family and I used to watch this show, usually on weekend mornings and all of us enjoyed it.
I think it's just so cool to see people connecting on the level that the two couples did in these episodes, and the effort put into many of the DIY projects- I'll say that very little in any of these aged well, but it's just fascinating to me how much these folks cherished what their friends did and what it meant to them. Not to mention, it really shows how much personality and individuality people seemed to favour back then, rather than sterile, millennial grey spaces made to look nice in an instagram post.. This was also before TLC became a terrorist organization as well. Makes me appreciate the time period I grew up in.

To be fair, it’s 20 years ago and it’s difficult to have a timeless design, especially on a $1000 budget. For example, 6:52 is a nicely decorated room, with neutral colors but it stills looks outdated. Sarah Richardson has timeless rooms from 20 years ago but she’s working with $20,000 plus budgets.
