As a Scott Pilgrim fan, it's cool to hear the inside scoop on this. Both versions are really good.
Surprised that this song was not taylor made for the movie, it fits perfectly! It's also great that what was supposed to be an unreleased tune got a second chance, and turned out to be on of the group's most beloved songs. So happy to listen Black Sheep once again in the Scott Pilgrim anime
One of the greatest melody shifts of all time, good job everyone. I went to see Edgar speak about the film at the Egyptian last month, this song in the theater bumped so hard, it was incredible.
Black Sheep was my favorite song from Scott Pilgrim and, after hearing it, I listened to Metric's original version and became a fan. I was so happy to get to meet and see them live when they came to Asheville in 2022! Best wishes for the new year and new tunes!
The music in the movie was incredible, and Black Sheep was a definite scene stealer. I had no idea it hadn't been written for the movie. I loved how they had the crowd sing it in Scott Pilgrim Takes Off.

One of the greatest songs of all time, debate a wall
Funny story, I was both a fan of Metric and Scott Pilgrim independent of each other and didn't know it crossed over like this until a few years ago. I had thought Black Sheep was a Scott Pilgrim song and I didn't even know Metric had a version, let alone were the originator of it. My first introduction to Metric (that I knew about) was from Krusha's remix of "Help I'm Alive." Fell in love with that song, both remix and original alongside the original "Gold, Guns, Girls" and I replayed those songs a million times over. Then one day the CZcams algorithm showed me that there's Black Sheep from Metric and I was like "heh, small world!" Rest, as they say is history.

Metric was already one of my favorite bands of all time and I remember going to see Scott Pilgrim and when the song came on I was blown away. I remember excitedly telling my friend in the theater that that song was definitely Metric and felt so vindicated at the credits when there you guys were.
Black Sheep is one of my wife's top 5 songs ever. It's in my top ten. It is for sure one of our road trip songs.

It’s actually the song that made me look into you as a band. I follow Black Sheep with Help I’m Alive. Listened to Fantasies and thought I ought to look at the discography. Found Dead Disco by incident and yeah that was my crystallized moment and I fell all the way in love with METRIC ❤
That is an awesome story. Like most I love both versions, Brie made that really work for Envy’s character, and what a perfect song for the scene
Because of Black Sheep and my (now ex)wife watching Eclipse about 25 times, I started searching for more of your music and I love it all. And even a dozen years later, The Scott Pilgrim soundtrack is one of my all time favorites and Black Sheep is always one of the top songs on my list of most played songs.

The song is so iconic. I love it so much. I prefer your vocals, but that's not to take away from Brie because she did a fantastic job. It's just impossible to top the original. Thanks for the story behind the tune.
The truth is that it is an excellent song, I really like listening to it and I would love to hear the full instrumental version in the background in the video. I hope one day they publish it.

I watched the movie in like 2012, and honestly didn't remember much of it. When I switched to Spotify for my music I though it was cool how it recommended all these artists I've never heard of before, so while listening to my discovery playlist Black Sheep stuck out as something different and it and other Metric songs were going around in my playlists for quite a long time, when I rewatched SPvsTW in like 2020 I was like OMG😮 I know that song!! I found out about Metric a couple of years ago through the Brie Larson cover of the song, and then went searching for more Metric music. I found so many songs that I love that they became my favorite band. I particularly love the use of bass and rhythm as a foundation for the strong melodies.
