How many incidents of fascism that mirror the Nazi's rise to power are we going to tolerate because it "can't happen here"?
And some people see the mob setting government buildings ablaze to incite tensions, a Nazi tactic. The news is propagated to create this chaos. The rioters took the bait. Why blame the people who want them to shut up and go home and quit destroying shit? All are to blame for allowing themselves to be divided over every Goddamn thing imaginable. Turn off the news. Go home and meditate. That’s how we win.
Always the way : at the start of WWI in Europe George Bernard Shaw advise all on both sides to shoot their officers and march home. Old men telling young men to kill and die.
Not the only one. I should probably give warning that some of these lyrics are from people who don't pretend shit doesn't stink. Now the old men march slowly, old bones stiff and sore. They're the forgotten heroes of a forgotten war, And the young people ask: "What are they marching for?" And I ask myself the same question, But the band plays Waltzing Mathilda, And the old men still answer the call, While as year follows year, More old men disappear. Someday no-one will march there at all. The billions shift from side to side and the wars go on with brainwashed pride, for the love of God and our human rights, and all these dreams are swept aside by bloody hands time can't deny. As the reasons for the carnage cut their meat and lick the gravy, we oil up the jaws of the war machine and feed it with our babies. The bodybags and little rags of children torn in two and the jellied brains of those who remained will put the finger right on you! You hide in your mansion while young people's blood runs out of their bodies and into the mud. Yet what do I know, to speak out of turn? You may say that I'm young. You may say I'm unlearned. Here's one thing I know, though I'm younger than you: Even Jesus would never forgive what you do. Still, I can't help but wonder, as I sit by your side: Do all those who lie here know why they died? Did you swallow their lies when they told you the cause? Did you really believe that this war would end wars? Well the suffering, the sorrow, the glory, the shame, The killing and dying, they were all done in vain. Oh, Willie McBride, it all happened again, And again and again and again and again.
"Well howdy there, Internet people. It’s Beau again… So today we are going to talk about Portland, again, and manuals. So yesterday afternoon, in that video, I took some guesses as to how things were going to play out in the streets, in Portland. What the response to the federal government’s actions was going to be. I said it was going to strengthen the hand of those in the streets, and that for every person they snatched, it would bring ten more to the cause. That’s what happened. According to the live streamers who have been covering it, their estimation is that the crowd size doubled. I don’t have a crystal ball - I read the manual. I said that yesterday, and by the time I found out last night, by the time y’all watched this, that people thought I was being sarcastic or metaphorical. No, I’m dead serious. One hundred per cent literal here. There’s a manual on this. It is FM3-24. The portion in question, that we were talking about yesterday, about provoking a response, that’s covered in Chapter 4, paragraph 43 ish. Somewhere in there. And that’s how these books are laid out … it will be 4 dash 43, maybe 42. That’s how you’ll find it. It’s a military manual. You can download it for free at archive.org, or FAS.org, which is Federation of American Scientists. This is an incredibly valuable resource, because, yes, it has stuff like this. You can download manuals about this type of stuff. The military is a massive organization, though. They need people to do everything. And they have manuals for everything. So if you wanted a book about carpentry - they’ve got it. If you want to know how to drive a bulldozer - they’ve got it. It is a massive non-fiction section. If you were to combine that, with the Guttenberg Project and LibriVox, you have an entire public library. It’s an amazing resource, it’s something that everybody should tap into, even if you don’t think you have any interest in anything the military would publish a manual on, go check it out. I’ll bet there’s something there you’ll want to read. Everything from medical texts - it’s just tons, the list is endless. So definitely take a look. You already paid for it. Your tax dollars developed this, wrote the manuals, and put it up there. There’s no reason you shouldn’t have access to it. Ok, so what’s gonna happen in Portland next? It all depends on the federal government, and what they do. Hopefully, they’re gonna read their own manual, and realize they’re making critical errors. Those who are in this field, who understand this stuff well, they don’t agree on anything. They really don’t. It’s constant arguments. However, they all agree on this. You don’t give them a security clampdown. You do not provide a security clampdown in an area, where a movement has popular support. All you do is escalate things. That’s it. It never works. It’s in the book. Now, the manual that I gave you there, that’s 101. That’s introduction level. When you see the title of it, you’ll understand how important it is for the federal government to change their tune. Because that’s where this can take us. These types of movements can spin out of control very quickly. And they can go to a whole other level, it can get really bad, and I know there’s people right now saying, “It IS really bad!” No. It’s not. It’s uncomfortable. But it can get really bad if it’s mishandled. Currently, it is being mishandled. And it will continue to inflame tensions if they don’t start following their own books. Their own advice. Their own strategies. Which really, at this point, because this has matured through the cycle, the only option is to A: Wait and hope that it burns out or B: Bring them to the table, and listen to what they want. Those are the only two choices. It’s escalated through mismanagement too far now, because if they continue down the road that they’re on, it’s gonna be the title of that book. And nobody wants that. I think the only thing that occurred that wasn’t in the manual was the young woman in the mask, and only the mask that decided to face down law enforcement last night. That was a surprise. But everything else is in the manual. But definitely check out those resources. Check out archive.org, fas.org, LibriVox and Project Guttenberg. You can build an entire library for nothing. It’s worth the time to take a look at it. Anyway, it’s just a thought. Y’all have a good night. " (book…… FM 3-24 MCWP 3-33.5 INSURGENCIES AND COUNTERING INSURGENCIES)

I hope he doesn't mind because it's really useful for me in being able to go and read up on some of the stuff he talks about.
@@margaretnicol3423 Well, several reasons. One is, as Alex says below, many of us are better able to understand concepts if we read them, as opposed to hearing them. I am that way, so when I transcribe the videos, I come away with a greater understanding of what Beau is saying. And I tend to remember the important points for much longer that way as well. Two... I hate the mess that closed captioning makes of words. If even readable, it's often very far from the intent of the speaker. I'm a writer, an editor, and a researcher - I actually get my back up when I see misspellings and grammatical errors. I'm also trained as a stenographer/transcriptionist, which is not to say that this is easy for me, it's just the way my brain works. Three, and perhaps most important, not everyone has a good connection to the internet, or even the ability to watch a video all the way through without stops and starts. Lots of my friends are in transition.. they are adapting to working from home, often at their cottages or other places with iffy wifi. So this way, they can get the gist without the hassle. And fourth - because I've had people tell me that they like the overall idea of what Beau has to say, but not enough for them to sit thru even ten minutes of video. It's how a lot of people are now, very low attention available. And some, especially older people, are just "brain nearly at capacity" and will skim the transcription to see if they want to spend the brain power/time on a given subject.

From my youth I always asked, "Why not?" And the answer I received 95% of the time was, "It just CAN'T." I think a lot of the public is in a state of shock, what with Trump and the pandemic, and question if there's an end. It IS happening, and it's happening because people let their greed, their racism, and their intolerance go on too long. Voting in people that support your worst qualities is not wise, but that's what happened. Sadly, those at the top of the heap, good and bad, will escape the turmoil as they always do. They have the means to go somewhere else or isolate themselves. One final note: If Trump and company were to end the republic, they will not tolerate any dissent from the "base". The same boots they are using in Portland they will willingly use against former supporters that are no longer useful.
The manual is 101 for an organization that sincerely wants peace. If chaos is what they want--chaos as a means of consolidating power--then they're following a manual from a different class altogether.
The manual is written by the DOD, it has nothing to do with peace. It is simply a matter-of-fact accounting of sociology and group dynamics and what are the best tactics to quell a movement.
@@CloudedAnon Sure, but largely talking about prepatory work with the explicit end of ultimately addressing underlying issues and "core grievances" that were the cause of the insurgency. That's peace work, yo. There's probably a manual for that. If, instead, you wanted to consolidate power you'd exacerbate core grievances to stir up an insurgence. Classic divide and conquer. Force the civilian population to choose sides, betting that you can aggravate the opposition into making unpopular moves, and that fear, propaganda, and a promise of stability would win most of them to your cause, even while you're looting them. That's a "whipsaw" attack where two sides attack the middle. I don't know if a manual for that kind of thing is published, but Bo was wearing an Ireland shirt in the earlier video, which made me think of it. He could have worn a shirt of many, many, many other places, too.
(Actually, while the consolidator uses propaganda, "winning converts" is the lesser end of the greater, which is to destroy their institutions and replace them with your own.)

I think things will have to get a *hell* of a lot worse before they're " bad enough". I think we've gone beyond any hope that an election will solve things. Even if Biden wins, the Supreme Court will continue to drag the county down losing ever more of its legitimacy in the process. When I got to the level of Manufacturing Engineering, and Manufacturing Engineering Manager, people where I was working wondered where I developed the need to document everything with such great detail, and provide the next person who would run a given job with such detailed, step-by-step, instruction, with pictures and diagrams and clearly written, concise instructions, with all relevant data in an easy to read format, providing all the relevant data where you needed to see it, and when in that procedure, that protocol, you would need to use that data. They couldn't figure out where I got this level of documentation, and standardization, and need to document and provide so much relevant information in manual, at the point in the process where you will need that data. It completely changed how three previously successful businesses became extremely successful in a matter of 6 to 9 months. Each company adopted my format, and my method of documenting things in their quality control department, and in the inspection lab, and it improved the quality departments in each business significantly, and ended up making everybody's jobs a little bit easier, a little bit less stressful. Well, everybody's job was a little less stressful, with the possible exception of a plant manager who now was going to be on the hook for raises for a shop full of machinists who were now not struggling to maintain 80 to 85% of their productivity goals, but where instead generally at about 105 to 110% productivity, with decreased scrap rates, decreased OOT finished parts, drastically reduced setup times, and quality Department people who could actually get all their work completed in time for the orders to be shipped out a day or two ahead of delivery deadlines. I just took the best of what I saw in the manuals I used, eliminated the crap that I didn't think would help, and added in what I thought I would benefit from because I wasn't that far removed from my time setting up and running those very same jobs on those very same machines. A lot of those manuals are pretty damn good. Some of them do seem to be written by Dustin Hoffman playing the Rain Man character, but a lot of those manuals are pretty damn good.
But what if they want to escalate the situation, to bolster the law and order platform? Make things look completely out of control in a liberal city due to anti fa, so people around the country might accept more authoritarian law enforcement for “safety”
Then this was pretty much the worst way to do it. As he said, the government's own manual on insurgency and counter insurgency states not to supress a demonstration if it has popular support in the area because that attracts 10 times as many people as you supress. If you do that repeatedly you have to fight off a revolution or meet with their leaders to discuss reforming the regime. To supress revolution you should make yourself seem reasonable and willing to negotiate but that the opposition was so crazy they won't take any of your deals. Then you supress the revolution in the name of national security. Trump doesn't have overwhelming support or credibility with most people and can't effectively supress revolts. Biden however, would be more then capable of putting down antifa.
Link to the manual: fas.org/irp/doddir/army/fm3-24.pdf Section mentioned 4-42.The urban (terrorist) approach is an approach in which insurgents attack government and symbolic targets (for example an important religious building) to cause government forces to overreact against the population. The insurgents want the government’s repressive measures to enrage the people so that they rise up and overthrow the government. Although this type of method may develop popular support against a government that is particularly brutal or corrupt, it may only result in shallow support for the insurgency. The population may only see the insurgency positively because of the brutal response, not because they identify with the insurgency.
Even if there's a manual on it, I would have thought "overreacting to a percieved threat will make new recruits" would be common sense. I would guess that's how the Vietcong and Al-Qaeda/ DAESH recruited people.

I'm looking through Chapter 4 and it looks mostly like they're just defining things, rather than saying how to deal with things. Edit: Found it! From paragraph 4-42, a couple sentences in: "The insurgents want the government’s repressive measures to enrage the people so that they rise up and overthrow the government." Since *technically* police reform and abolition movements count as insurgencies based on the broad definition used in the manual, the movement has been largely nonviolent in its means. They didn't *try* to provoke an overreaction, our own government was kind enough to provide the overreaction all on its own.
Yeah, I'm looking at the FM 3-24 and I'm just thinking... it's not because he doesn't wanna read, it's not because he is just bad at his job... the third and clearly preferable option to our cruel and violent dictator-wannabe President is "escalate so they rise up and we can shoot 'em til they shut up and stop making demands." population. The insurgents want the government’s repressive measures to enrage the people so that they
rise up and overthrow the government. Although this type of method may develop popular support against
a government that is particularly brutal or corrupt, it may only result in shallow support for the insurgency.
The population may only see the insurgency positively because of the brutal response, not because they

They're the forgotten heroes of a forgotten war,
And the young people ask: "What are they marching for?"

And the old men still answer the call,
While as year follows year,
More old men disappear.

"Well howdy there, Internet people. It’s Beau again…
So today we are going to talk about Portland, again, and manuals.
And they can go to a whole other level, it can get really bad, and I know there’s people right now saying, “It IS really bad!”
No. It’s not. It’s uncomfortable. But it can get really bad if it’s mishandled. Currently, it is being mishandled. And it will continue to inflame tensions if they don’t start following their own books. Their own advice. Their own strategies. Which really, at this point, because this has matured through the cycle, the only option is to
A: Wait and hope that it burns out or B: Bring them to the table, and listen to what they want.

Out of interest, why are you doing this?
@@margaretnicol3423 I don't know what Roxanne's reasons are, but the reason I'm grateful to have it is because I can sometimes take in what he's said more effectively by reading it. Especially sometimes when he refers to things not common in my dialect and I need to google it. Plus of course for the links.

Yes, they want escalation. With escalation he can demonize the Political Left more and then invalidate the election.
They use fear as motivation as a major weapon. Us against them. Demonize them and people readily join sides to be your soldiers

INSURGENCIES AND COUNTERING INSURGENCIES is the name of the manual for anyone wondering
fas.org/irp/doddir/army/fm3-24.pdf
Beau, you have answered your own question, three words: ''books''. ''manuals'' and ''read''.
nobody in the White House reads.
What do you mean if?
Shouldn't this be an Oath Keepers Deam and purpose come true? Unless it was never about that.
Been thinking the same thing. Still waiting for them to show up.

Section mentioned 4-42.The urban (terrorist) approach is an approach in which insurgents attack government and symbolic targets (for example an important religious building) to cause government forces to overreact against the population.
I'm sorry everyone for what's happening.
It is sad isn't it?
Is this your fault? Hey everybody! I found a scapegoat!
Kidding. Also sorry.
Thanks again Beau. I would love to sit down and break bread with you over a lengthy conversation.
Beau, it's been 30 years since I retired, but the FM Manuals are an endless source of information.
Thank you!
Even if there's a manual on it, I would have thought "overreacting to a percieved threat will make new recruits" would be common sense. I would guess that's how the Vietcong and Al-Qaeda/ DAESH recruited people.
"...the young woman in the mask and only the mask who decided to face down the police last night.." lmao 👍
The paragraph in question seems to be 4-42:

From armypubs.army.mil/epubs/DR_pubs/DR_a/pdf/web/fm3_24.pdf
yep, that's it.
Yeah, I'm looking at the FM 3-24 and I'm just thinking... it's not because he doesn't wanna read, it's not because he is just bad at his job... the third and clearly preferable option to our cruel and violent dictator-wannabe President is "escalate so they rise up and we can shoot 'em til they shut up and stop making demands." That doesn't work, though, as Justin said. It never works. Sadly, that part doesn't matter. Trump won't be harmed no matter how evil he acts towards us. Unless.

Adam Smith, 250 years ago:
_"The interest of the dealers [referring to stock owners, manufacturers, and merchants], however, in any particular branch of trade or manufacture, is always in some respects different from, and even opposite to, that of the public. To widen the market and to narrow the competition, is always the interest of the dealers. To widen the market may frequently be agreeable enough to the interest of the public; but to narrow the competition must always be against it, and can serve only to enable the dealers, by raising their profits above what they naturally would be, to levy, for their own benefit, an absurd tax upon the rest of their fellow-citizens."_

_"The proposal of any new law or regulation of commerce which comes from this order, ought always to be listened to with great precaution, and ought never to be adopted till after having been long and carefully examined, not only with the most scrupulous, but with the most suspicious attention. It comes from an order of men, whose interest is never exactly the same with that of the public, who have generally an interest to deceive and even to oppress the public, and who accordingly have, upon many occasions, both deceived and oppressed it."_
