      Nah, that's just how it goes in China. Asian cultures generally don't like to wear their outside shoes indoors, so they have slippers at the office cuz it's cleaner (even thought offices there generally aren't that clean, and they smell like smoke). Saw a lot of Crocs when visiting my client Alibaba. They also take naps after lunch... turn out the lights, some people bring camping cots to the office for their naps.

    they're hyping up the dual camera but no wide angle lens for wide angle shots, which is IMO the main benefit of dual camera (not a pointless portrait mode with gimmicky bokeh that you'll use twice then forget).
    for this rather pointless reason, OP5 is now 'the most expensive oneplus yet'... doesn't seem worth it at the moment IMO.

    • @samuelbaird4983
      @samuelbaird4983 Před 7 lety +18

      Wide angle is damn near useless. You have these things called feet for that. They could do much better things with the dual camera, like using a black and white one to improve night pictures and shadows. Also, it isn't just a bokeh effect. Dual cameras improve depth of field, capture 3 dimentionality more accurately when taking a picture, and decreases distortion compared to normal lenses. A wide angle lens is quite literally the most useless feature you could add. It literally does nothing but add distortion and increase the fov equivalent of a step or two back.

      You gotta remember that you can't just swap out lenses on a phone like you can on a DSLR. For that reason, they had to find a sweet spot, which was the portrait mode because most people are going to be taking pictures of themselves and other people. Also, just because it's named "portrait mode" or such doesn't mean you can't equally use it for taking other types of photos.

      iPhones are so much more SMOOTHER and the OS on Apple's products is the best out there, by far. Having had a Samsung Galaxy S6 edge and an iPhone 6, there is a considerable difference in specs and actual usage of the phone, in my opinion. Nothing matches how efficient and fast Apple's iPhones are.

      I don't understand why people make such a big deal that phones look very similar in design. Good design is often iterative, and must take into consideration design cues that people are familiar with. This is part of why apple just keeps recycling the same basic interface and button lay out. To appreciate the differences devices have to offer, you have to look beyond superficial details. Sort of like how all laptops and TVs look the same, but we know there can be substantial differences in user experience and performance.

    I hope that OnePlus does really well for the OnePlus 5 because the OnePlus 3 and 3T were good phones with really fast charging, but the camera wasn't able to compete well against Apple, Samsung, and even Google. I'm not saying that OnePlus is getting bankrupt, but Apple and Samsung have been dominating the phone market for a long time and there needs to be some more completion from smaller companies like OnePlus to make a difference and sell phones.
