FATHER and SON Wilderness OIL PAINTING, Bushcraft/Camp Oven Cooking/Simple Living/primitive shelter!

- On this trip into Outback Australia I have the young lad with me. We will setup a simple canvas tarp shelter, sleep in the swags and cook our meals in the camp oven (Dutch oven) over the open fire! There will be plenty of plein air oil painting, canoeing and just enjoying and unwinding in nature on this wilderness camping adventure.

I almost can smell the air and feel the warmth of the day.

One year dreaming to be on the road painting Canadian landscape with an ambulance to be converted as a camper and now cancer hits. So after treatments, I will be hitting the road. if I can find the used ambulance... but I have something to look forward to. Your videos were a great inspiration to get my ass on the road painting. The shepherds pie might be the bomb, wish I could taste it. I think the sunrise painting is the real joy. Being on the Murray River in the morning is one of he best feelings I have had and you captured that for me again. Thanks Richard.

I really enjoy the sunrise picture, it shows fantastic colours and beautiful reflections.
The main picture is captivating, apart from the colours, on the one hand because of its great depth and on the other hand because of the superb reflections in the water. To show reflections correctly is a hard job and with you and your technique they come so easily. This means that the water also looks like water.
The third image is captivating because of the interplay of colours when you focus on the sun and step back a little, which enhances the overall impression. What magnificent colours!

Reminds me of camping with my Dad. Your video brought back wonderful memories of campfire smoke, that nip in the early morning air, the birds chirping so early and the sunrise raking across the land. Dad was a WW II Vet and he used to tell me how great we had it. Your video took me back to all that. It brought tears to my eyes. Thank you Richard! God Bless!

I love nature, collecting food, just enough to eat, then capture the beauty on canvas is my dream. Nature brings to reason see why we're part of mother earth and nature. Seen some wonderful things here and New Zealand. The colour and sound is beyond words. You capture so much in what I was taught in college from a great artist teacher, freedom of movement and colour. Well done!

Hi Richard, looks like a good time, would love it if my dad was still around to do more things like this - life is too short - enjoy. I cooked cast iron, yours is much better than mine, but I didn't starve, yet 😂 great effort.
That's on the fire - cast iron scones/chicken/potatoes & they looked like it too, ha, ha, ha.

Did I miss the breakfast with bacon, sausages and fried eggs on big slabs of toasted white bread? Ive been living in the Aussie bush for 66 years and must admit I have never ever taken a mortar and pestle to crush flax seeds, what have I been missing?

Loved this vid. The mix of close up painting and the bush camping activity was truly engaging. I am learning a lot from you about painting but also your approach to camping. I have a small van which is no bigger than a car and I have a mattress and my art and overnight camping stuff in the back. Nothing like your set up but a great resource to help me paint outdoors. Pity the British weather is not as reliable as yours!
