  • Back in the nineties, almost all mountain bikes had long stems and narrow handlebars! We already made the narrowest handlebar video, so now it's time for the longest stem! Thanks to our friends at ‪@gcn‬ we have borrowed some different length road bike stems, but just how far can Blake go? 🤔

That’s a true mullet. Mullets are larger/longer in the rear so a “mullet” would have a 29 rear and a 27.5 front. What people call a “mullet” should really be called an “emo”. Emo has larger/longer in the front, so the larger wheel on the front is an “Emo”. At least that’s my take; I’m trying to popularize the term. 😁

Agreed, I would love to see alternating wheel sizes. 29 or 27 front with 27 or 26 rear wheels.

you got to love modern bikes. much better fit, geometry, so no more long stems. but the old bikes had super short reach.

aggravating video - we rode stems like this for years. I still enjoy the upper body work out to the point I run my older MTB as much as the new ones. In fact when I bought my modern MTB the first thing I did was order a longer stem.

have you seen that 'riser' stem that has hydraulics in it like a riser seat post?
It's so you can go from regular stubby stem to negative rise long stem at a push of a button to allow you to climb better once you're at the bottom of your run. Looks a bit like the Mercedes F1 DAS system.
That may be fun to test
