I LOVE that they’re keeping this ink and sketch cutscene style. It’s so Destiny. And the glitchy title drop at the end, chef’s kiss.
Best art direction for these kind of cutscene are truly fantastic.
Reminds of the sketch on parchment paper end credits seen in LOTR/Hobbit, big sucker for that art style.

@sanity I came back for The Witch Queen, didn't feel like the delivery of the lore to the player via the in-game story has gotten any better. And it's objectively abysmal for new players. Even if I agreed with you, one year finally after seven years of garbage is not anything to aspire to. They are even aware of what a meme their poor scripts and stories are and put that in game with No Time to Explain.

I was reading the grimoire cards back in D1, I'm fully aware of the lore being great. That's literally what I opened my comment with. The lore and the story that the player is presented with is not the same thing. Also you are not aware of any of my playing habits, where I was before stopping playing daily and coming back for The Witch Queen.

They really need a “Cutscene archive” and put it in the triumphs area for players to view cutscenes again, and learn what’s going on
Even better. Give us the opportunity to play everything again starting in vanilla Destiny. They could give you the option to only have the most current content downloaded or have destinations and missions from whatever period you chose from.
Honestly tho, they can even use the timeline section we already have in the game that doesn’t really have much of a purpose

Mission selector for red war campaign, Osiris and Warmind and Forsaken. Just the missions so we can replay and get some old rewards or armors that we missed.
Im really happy for the new players that they're getting this.
Im trying to get a friend into Destiny and its really hard for them because they have no idea what is the world, and what is their place in it

God yes please. The new player experience really needs to be the free to play story line. Give them a few story lines to follow until it works into the main story. They could expanded on the Navotta storyline as the main free to pay quest line.

YEP, to bring new lights to the game we need to do like a priest of AGE OF EMPIRES to make them play the game and understand it. A lot of friends stop laying because the SHIT new light camping. Step 1: this cutscene
Step 2: OG D1 cosmodrome mission and tutorial missions with Shaw Han
Step 3: Shaw Han says head to the tower which begins the red war campaign
Not sure about sending a player into the Red War campaign like that. Granted, yes, a new player needs things to do to get their power up and a campaign will help with that but its context would need to be altered slightly. I liked it when the Red War campaign, and the year 1 campaigns, were stories being told by Amanda Holliday.

Ok so what I'm understanding is that a big golf ball in the sky gave us space magic and then big brolic black geometric shapes came out and tried to blow it up, so the big golf ball exploded and gave birth to a bunch of other smaller geometric shapes, which brought people back from the dead, where they were given more space magic, but then a bunch of schizophrenic pirates, rhinos, and offbrand covenant wanted a bunch of stuff from us so we fought them, but also fought each other, but then we didn't and we made a big city and there was peace except there wasn't and now megamind and his army are coming to stomp us into the ground. 10/10

i really hope this game never ends. it pulled me out of a really dark time in my life. i have made tons for friends. i may take breaks but i always come back to destiny. this has been my life game, not just my main game. thank you guys for everything you have done and for listening to the community. you have made an absolute master piece.

When Destiny's story and lore is told in an easy to understand way like this you can really understand how amazing the story of Destiny is. When they first launched Destiny back in the day they said they wanted the story to sit right up there with the story of Star Wars and Lord Of The Rings. I can now say it most certainly does.
Im a big lore buff myself. I wouldnt quite say it is up there with Star Wars or Lord of the Rings. It might be close, but not quite yet. It has the "magic", the incredibly special and intriguing setting where they blend a multitude of genres together seamlessly, Fantasy, Sci-fi, even Westerns. The universe that fosters imagination and wonder. It has some incredibly memorable and special locations and music. It even has some of the best backstory in fiction, with epic tales, like Books of Sorrow and Marasenna.
But it still needs a bit more. That crucial gameplay/campaign element, where it truly comes together for all to see. Not just relegated to some people who enjoy spending their time reading about everything. Or people who listen to someone read them the story. Star Wars was incredible, without reading the many dozens of books, or playing the many games like I did. Lord of the Rings, similarly without having the read the Silmarillion.
It is getting closer. Witch Queen was a fantastic step. Seasons get better and better. Long gone are the days of "That wizard came from the moon" and "I dont have time to explain why I dont have time to explain". What will determine whether it can sit with those grand tales, will be how it manages to end this great saga of Light vs Dark. And for the common person, what kind of story is told by the extended universe projects.(like if Destiny can pull off its version of Arcane, or something beloved like that...)
Destiny definitely needs to diversify their media in order to be compared to big lore giants. Destiny books and movies. Like they did with halo.
It's been a while. I think it time to revisit this universe.

You definitely should. New season drops today, as well as the last update to the light subclasses which are free to all players.
This cutscene needs to be given to New Lights when they first launch the game!
I'd say let it play when you talk to someone. Dumping exposition like this on people right out of the gate isn't exactly a warm welcome. Having this cutscene be essentially a character telling you the story would be a more organic way to do it, though who they'd get to actually do it I couldn't say (if only Ikora were narrating).
Make it like overwatch’s cutscene that plays every time you boot up the game, but you can skip it
@@nomad-8260 It should only play out and be unskiplable for new players with their first guardian created so they can have a grasp of what the game is about. Then when creating their second and third character it should be skippable.
I like the use of the different leitmotifs as the scene changes. Especially the part from 3:09 with the guardian's theme, which then shifts to a slight hint of Athanasia when the exo's were shown, then the forsaken/dreaming city motif when they showed the awoken. And when each of the guardian classes were introduced (titan, warlock, hunter) Inner Light was played. We've heard these motifs grown over the years, and they've never sounded better
This is a perfect intro for new lights because this current story is pretty hard for them to just hop in an understand. good job :D
It’d be nice to have a streamlined campaign of Destiny’s story missions.
Hopefully the fact they they’re working on the engine and not vaulting content anymore means a simplified version of the red war campaign can come back for new lights. That would be incredible. Start in the cosmodrome and then to the red war, all the way up to light fall. That would truly be a masterpiece of modern gaming.
@@forrestrichard8133 It would be great if after The Final Shape they could revamp the pre-Witch Queen campaigns and streamline them into Witch Queen-like campaigns so we can experience Destiny 2 from start to finish in a well-made cinematic format. Not sure what to do about seasonal story content though, since much of it is relevant, but would massively bloat the game with too many things if they decided to add it all. Maybe cinematics that introduce the new characters or happenings whenever they show up to new (or any) players?

The transition to "Keep of Voices" music plays just as they introduce the Awoken, chills
The attention to detail in the soundtrack for this video is immense, I loved hearing slight bits of motifs/themes when each enemy and player race came on (especially the Athanasia synth when the exos were up)
Would kill for a release of this mashup without question

@Soinas Doyi Although the beginning of the story (which refers to the Traveler arriving in our solar system) should be a little more explained so new players have a total grasp of what happened in the past that led to what the hell is going on currently.

The Traveler's leitmotif from 0:31 to 0:50 gets me every time. Such a gorgeous bit of music and one of Destiny's finest. I hope Bungie'll use that leitmotif in The Final Shape as a nice callback to the beginning of Destiny 1. It always manages to tug at my heartstrings.
This NEEDS to be in the game. Maybe right after the opening cutscene with the astronauts landing on mars for new players.
It'll probably replace that and the ghost revival scene.
Finally, a great explanation/introduction to destiny. Make this the first part of story mode for our new guardians!

Man I got chills from that and I played destiny since taken king along side below, wolf,iron and all destiny 2 related content.
Apart from the opening cutscene of Vanilla D1, I can’t say that I remember ever seeing another cutscene showing us the pre-Golden Age and the Golden Age itself. It’s nice to _finally_ see more of that, even if it is just a snippet.

I watched the presentation earlier today but missed this bit.
Not going to lie. This made me tear up a little bit... I've been playing since the D1 alpha. I've attempted every single raid day one except for the original VoG and Crota. I have 6 day one clears including a few top 100 placements. I'm incredibly fortunate and honored to play with such amazingly skilled players. I love this game!
Unfortunately I'm in the hospital right now with a serious infection. I'm not sure if I'll be able to participate for day one King's Fall this Friday. I'll be absolutely devastated. Day one raids are why I play this game. I live for them. I seriously hope I recover soon enough.
Anyway, Bungie should put this in the game for new players.
not gonna lie, this game never fails to inspire me to be part of something bigger than myself. if ever the Traveler arrives in this solar system... i shall hope to stand beside my fellow Guardians to protect the whole of Humanity

I’m really glad they’re showing the witness as this unstoppable force that’ll inevitably make contact to our reality as guardians and humanity. Each time bungie mentions or shows him/she (idk the correct pronouns) it’s always founded on a base of dread and pure doom. Especially with this cinematic and how they portrayed The Witness with no eyes makes him look demonic asf. very excited for lightfall, looking forward to what the raid has in store, and the future is looking a lil brighter for this game. after many years of turmoil destiny is finally turning anew leaf, good job Bungo
Since we don't know what the Witness is because it seems to be a multitude of people across realities, the grammatically correct term is "they/them" (For non English speakers like myself, it takes time to make sense of using "they/them" like this)

I think @4:40 would’ve been a great face for the Witness. Like give it the normal facial features but where’s its eyes are just make an endless black that reflects no light. As though it swallows any that comes into contact with it. Would’ve been awesome if that was its design and the first time we see any sign of its eyes were in the opening to Lightfall when it’s blasted by the Travelers Light.
