  • Hello Shiny Crafty People and welcome back!
Today I’m making a boxed corner zipper bag made from a simple placemat!
This one isn’t too different than my previous two DOPP kit videos, but uses a slightly different technique.
But I still enjoyed it less than others, so if you want an easier version, check this video:
    • EVEN EASIER Dopp Kit T...
I bought these placemats on Amazon. Here’s the link to a similar set: amzn.to/3QRJa6O
Of course, it will work with just about any rectangular placemat.
I hope you enjoy making there and, until next time, stay crafty!!

I really love that you show your mistakes 😊 Then show how to fix them. A lot of tutorials are so perfect that if we do goof up, might not know how to fix it. I am a pretty advanced sewing so I can figure out mistakes, but you are doing a great service for the newer sewers ❤

That came out spectacularly. I found myself shouting "Stop" at the screen when I saw you approaching the zipper when you were sewing the side seam. So glad you caught it yourself!

I agree that it looks good, but oh yeah, it was a struggle! Lol

Essentially you are just using prequilted fabric for the bag. It does not have to be a placemat. I have a King size quilted pillow sham that I will use for this technique. Thanks for the idea.

Nice!! What a great use of pre-quilted fabric. One tip re the top stitching - you can simply move the lining out the way and top stitch only the outer fabric - the lining doesn’t have to be top stitched and it saves the stress of trying not to catch too much bulk.

This was a great tutorial. It's the very way I started a bag and hadn't finished. Now I can finally finish it!.
I really like the bag you have hanging from the shelves in the background. Do you have a tutorial for it?

I don’t but everything time it’s in the background people ask me about it. I’ll have to make one!

moving my sewing into another room - I just ran across a placemat that I didn't know I had - I just might try this.
