The US Open is the final Grand Slam of the year and takes place at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center. The 2021 US Open saw Russia's Daniil Medvedev and Great Britain's Emma Raducanu claim the men's and women's singles titles. It was both players' first major title, with 18-year-old Raducanu becoming the first-ever qualifier to achieve the feat. The 2022 US Open main draw is scheduled to go ahead between August 30 - September 11.

I didn’t think they would actually upload this. This was my favorite match of the tournament. Leylah made me a fan here. I was sad I didn’t bother to watch her first 2 rounds. I didn’t expect her to reach the 3rd round. Leylah’s tenacity is inspiring. She’s a fun player to watch and she’s adorable. Osaka found out what it’s like to be the star shocked by a relatively unknown teen. Watching Leylah was the best part of this US Open for me even if she didn’t win.

Tennis is difficult sports with tight tactic mental and physical requirements for one to stay on top during a very short career, I can only imagine how much dedication for those few who managed to stay on top for 20 plus years. I mean how much work they put inside the gym. How many hours day in day out they play with their hitting partner or partners. Hurt breaking when they retire but hey they surely deserve to relax and have FUN. One thing I know for sure someone will one day give her all to have a shot at MC 24GSM. Most if not all the forehand misses from Osaka were due to her shots hit with her back foot. Osaka needs to practice more with her open stance but feet are still pointed forward. Some squats may give her the strength to push her body forward when striking her forehands. Especially, when she's off balance. When she hits forehand winners, all her forehand shots her feet were forward. Body was forward.

@@samati109 I know enough to see that she's ambitious and very stubborn but lack in so many aspects and unless she change her coach and work on her game she'll struggle. Winning with fitness is a tactic that works until some point. She's young but she'll not be forever. And playing like this she'll struggle with contusions. She's bright and passionate but desperately needs to work on so many aspects. Dad is to a point, now she needs someone to spin her 180°. If she worked on her game to that other girl level in combination with this fitness, this were going to be straight sets. In her favour. And she was going to have the right trophy.
But she's young and have the time in her favour. However as I said the right person behind her is missing.

Osaka is confused imo. She is very insecure and has an identity crisis . Couple with her other anxieties and she's squandered away her potential imo. 4 Slams in such a short time should build to something but she withdrew on a tantrum from French and Wimbledon and lost US Open and now is lost. Emma Raducanu has become the new darling of tennis and Osaka's stars are gonna fade unless she steps up mentally and accepts and becomes secure with herself. I hope she gets the help she needs because it has lasted like 3 Slams and that's way too long imo. She needs to figure things out to not end up a fruit case.

Osaka withdrew from the two slams where she never does well. That’s the part they always leave out of headlines. She thought she was going to spend that time preparing for the Olympics and US Open because she’s best on hard courts but it didn’t work out because she didn’t realize that being a star player means others have studied your game and they’re bringing their best for you. Serena said years ago that getting to the top is hard but staying on top is much harder. Osaka never factored that in her plan and she’s not ready for it.

No one expected a close match between Leylah (#77) and Osaka (#3 & 4 GS titles) going into this. They didn’t show it in the highlights but during the match Osaka had moments where she was laughing looking shocked at some of Leylah’s returns.
