SMPS Output voltage Fluctuation / Switch Mode Power Supply Output Not Regulated. smps output fluctuation term is used when the output voltage of switch mode power supply are not being regulated properly. irregulated amplitude of the output in any smps is called fluctuation
it may be due to many reasons
1. main dc capacitor is internally open circuit
2. vcc capacitor of smps ic is open internally
3. vcc circuit / bias circuit / auxiliary circuit is open circuit
4. output circuit have some short circuit capacitor
5. feedback circuit is not working properly, it may be due to reference circuit, TL431 reference, or optocoupler or its related components

@@HaseebElectronics my friend I have a SMPS driving me crazy, have changed everything and still dead. How to check the yellow transformer is not dead? I have removed it.

@@HaseebElectronics its for dvd player, big main capacitor was blown, changed it and now have 320v dc on primary. Also changed all caps, removed and checked all diods on primary and secondary, have checked everything with no luck. No voltage on secondary caps and no dc output. It doesnt have ic, only fets and transistors and two sharp transistors for 3,3 and 5v.. Pages 30 and 42 on manual, (manual is for 110v but same design)

Dear Mr Haseeb, I am fascinated the way you explain and troubleshoot electrical problem. I have been watching your demostration for long time.
I have a request now. If you please take some time from your busy schedule to explain automotive engine control unit usually known as ECU/ECM . This is fitted to modern car etc. But no contemporary book is available on this unit. Service centres usually cheat or demand hefty amount of money for a very simple job. Wating for a favourable reply.

Thanks. It does get a bit harder when some designers add 4 times the amount of components for regulation and safety.
I wish they would go back to the big heavy transformers 1 cap and 4 diodes. Thats it. Oh yeah. Thanks for english.
