Let's not forget just a couple of years ago Zhao almost lost his professional tour card and had to go through the q-school qualifiers, and now he's the UK champion. You can't get any better comeback story like this!
And tecnically he did lose it but won it back. Always looked a super talent
And it also shows how good Q-School actually is as a platform for upcoming talent. It's fantastic to see the players coming through and Zhao is one of the great examples!

I only just got back watching snooker after hearing about Murphy's rant and I ended up sticking around the whole tour. Best decision! Looking forward to following these new generation!
When were you last into the game?
I can't remember it was when I was in school. I got into other things and lost track of snooker. I'm 28 now and finished school in 2012. I watched odd matches here and there but that's about it. I got into Snooker and F1 as my parents ran a restaurant and me and bro lived upstairs. They were the things on TV.

I stumbled over a Chinese CZcams video that claimed that Chinese snooker players were subjected to so-called "cold violence" by mainly British snooker players. I wonder what they make of this story looking at the praise Zhao has recieved from players, commentators and not to mention the amazing York crowd during the entire tournament - I mean, it doesn't get more "British" than York!

Many (clearly not all) Chinese are known for their inflated sense of persecution. Mostly 'little pinks' and wumao, having a nationalist bent as they do. Somewhat kettle and pot, however, given the brutal regimes their athletes (especially young gymnasts) are forced to endure, including violence in all its forms. Show me a genuinely happy and balanced young gymnast in PR China and I've got some magic beans to sell you...
Cheering for home-town heroes are quite normal; all fans in the world of sports do that. The British snooker fans actually exhibited gentlemanly sportsmanship that’s actually the spirit of this gentleman’s game. Apart from their own hard work and talent, the Chinese players actually owe it to Britain for providing an environment that’s conducive for snooker development. ( Most top Chinese players actually live in the UK)

Zhao has finally comes of age and its good for the fans for he's fun to watch whether lose or win with his aggressive styles ala Ronnie...wake up call for the English/European players that you can play exciting game that pleases the crowd and win matches too.

Fresh blood is what snooker needs. The class of 92 have been awesome for the game but it’s really great to this level of talent in Brecel and Zhao starting to really hit their straps.
Yes, I was hoping that the both of them land in the final. Tells a lot about the change of times. I mean Luka a young player playing in the final against an even younger player in Xintong. So happy that the future of Snoooker is looking bright.

I loved the end ot the match against Anthony Hammilton. The frame and match ball he worked out there. A plant into the middle leaving nothing if it doesn't go in. Shows his tactical skill as well. And I mean his Snooker brain is just ... not only the positional play but how he works things out. Giving himself options and rescuing situations that have gone slightly awry. Choosing the more difficult shot to obtain better position all of this reminds of Ronnie. What a silky touch. And I haven't even talked about his temperament. So calm and steady and not easily flustered. Just like you said. I thought he was done against Higgins. But he kept his cool and didn't changte his game or broke down or anything. He kept his cool and applied himself. Future champion imo.
Zhao plays at a rididulous pace without looking rushed, which makes his cue ball control overlooked. What a potting machine he is. I actually think spending some time with Ebdon might do him a lot of good.

What an awesome performance. Felt a little for Brecel he really didn't getting any luck, and contributed immensely in a great final a d tournament in general. Xhao still a deserved winner though 👌❤️ hope to see more of both these players in latter stages or more competitions.
5 years ago, I watched a match with Ronny at the 2016 English Open tournament, and I was amazed by his talent in that match. When I watched this finale, I thought of a TV series I watched in my youth, "The 6 Million Dollar Man". In the intervening time, I wondered if the Chinese did something to this child. :).
Excellent, I hope it maintains this level for many years and gives pleasure to snooker lovers.
I also followed the same TV series in the 70's. However, snooker players, by and large, are individuals play for themselves, rarely represent their countries. The way Zhao pots so many long balls with such precision and ease, I don't blame you for drawing corelations with that old tv series.
Zhao should be flattered as a compliment from you.
For those that don't know Chinese names are family name followed by individual name. Xintong is his individual informal name.
Finally the naming convention has been recognised here on screen. If it's Luca, it's also Junhui, Xintong, Wenbo and Bingtao.

I'm Chinese myself. The thing i think about whenever i watch Zhao, is that when i was a young kid growing up in Canada, i can't tell you how many times white guys would just casually say to me how 'orientals' naturally have inferior eyesights because of their slanted eyes.
I'm very happy for him......but @eurosport....could you not put the end results in the title of the video's? Some of us didn't watch it and now you've ruined it and it's pointless to watch when I know the outcome
