I have rules about buying stuff on my phone: 1. Don't buy anything after 10pm. 2. Don't buy from bed. Wait until I am sitting up and dressed. 3. Leave things in the cart or on the wish list for a few days before you check out.
Legit about to put this on a post it on my lamp on my night stand. Absolutely when my most stupid spending happens. Never a lot of money, but just little things that add up over time
YES! DITTO!
You are losing your voice because of your vocal fry. Check this out for better vocal health. Great video though! Made notes and will do all 7.❤
Leaving things in my cart for at least a week really really works for me
Buying frozen vegetables has helped me a lot by not wasting my money/food on going bad and throwing it away.
Yup they are just as good most of the time.
Yep that's what I do, only fresh veg I buy are tomatoes and broccoli when I plan to use it within 1-2 days.
Do you have tricks for them not being watery? I feel like I mess up frozen veggies and end up wasting them 😒 🤣
@@azlynnhill2417 how do you use them? They are fine for soups, sauces, boiled/steamed obviously, I use fresh for baking though.
@@azlynnhill2417 are you talking about the steamer bags ? I just open a corner and dump out the water.
I decided that I was not going to buy anything after 7 pm and wow! I’m now spending around $200. less per week! I tend to get really excited about buying things in the evening. I wait until the next day to pull the trigger, but cooler heads nearly always prevail and I find that I don’t want the item in the light of day. So effective!
That is awesome! lol
I have 3 other ideas/tricks that I shared in a separate comment if you want to check them out. I'm a mom/wife of 6 kids and 3 dogs. All I know about these tricks is that they help me out a ton! lol
Checking out your channel now! ♥
Always wait a day, 24 hours,. Things ten to lose their luster with time. I think it allows your brain to reset.
The "you don't need as much food as you think you do" thing is so true, but was so hard for me to learn. I grew up not having much food in my house, so as an adult I obsessively hoard food and panic if our fridge and freezer and pantry aren't crammed full. I always cook more food at a time than our family can eat, and then we get sick of eating the leftovers and end up wasting food.
Maybe a small shelf of non-perishables in a storage area would help you feel more food secure while wasting less? We're all just doing the best we can considering our childhoods. Sending love
I have a friend who does this also
It's hard to un-learn resource insecurity. I agree that if stocking non-perishables helps with your mental health, do it. There are plenty of tips available for getting the most for your money and storage space. It's good to have an emergency supply on hand anyway. Just cook smaller batches -- enough for the family meal + no more than one day of leftovers.
I understand this too. Especially because we have food intolerances and seeing the empty supermarket shelves during lockdowns was really triggering
This is exactly me too. Food insecurity is such a hard trauma to overcome. I do like the advice of keeping non perishables in stock in a shelf, I’m definitely going to take that advice and hopefully then I can stop overbuying
I think it’s beneficial to live under your maximum financial capacity. If you can afford eating out 3 times a week, eat out 2 times. If you can afford a $75 000 car get a $50 000 car etc.
Absolutely! It's always amazing how much a bank will lend you for a house, for example. We had to tell our bank rep we were NOT INTERESTED in borrowing that much and I remember how shocked he was...
It's a simple concept, but few adopt it.
@@jtidema yes we had to do that too. They wanted to give us more than double what we were willing to spend.
Who is buying $500,000 cars???
@@sammyc9617 haha I meant 50 000, I’m not used to USD
Unsubscribing to Amazon prime has saved me a lot of money. Having to pay for shipping (or wait until I have enough stuff for free shipping) and then wait a week for delivery makes me less likely to buy stuff I don't need. Also meal planning to use up leftover ingredients from the week before significantly cuts down on food waste. Meal planning also makes it easier to make a grocery list and stick to it. Food makes up the majority of my impulse buys, so knowing we have all the meals covered for the week gives me peace of mind to not be squirrelly and hoard all the food for winter.
It's outsourcing for me. I used to pay to get my house cleaned but they cost a lot and didn't even do a good job I now do it myself little by little each day.
Great tips - very easy to follow advice. Thank you.
One thing to consider is the time value of money. For example, is paying someone to clean my house going to give me two hours that I can use to build my business or am I going to use that time to scroll social media?
Or can I layer habits: Paying someone to do my grocery shopping and deliver it is going to help me stay on budget through only ordering what I am meal planning and not impulse buying. It also saves me time: While they are doing the groceries, I am cleaning the house so I now have more time to batch-cook for the week so I don't have to do take-out or eat out. Since it costs less to have someone else do the shopping than it does to clean my house, I'll do the more expensive task and still gain the time.
that’s not the time value of money, bc the TVM is how a dollar today is worth more than. dollar tmrw. i think you mean which is a greater investment of your money and time
This! You articulated perfectly what I try to tell people when I order groceries in. It saves time, it saves money, it saves gas, and its my least favorite adulting activity so it's saves my sanity.
I cook and we all eat on the leftovers for the next day and then (instead of throwing out that last bit of whatever food is left) we freeze any extra that is left in single serving portions. It has worked great to use those "portions" for rounding out other meals or to pull down some portions of a few different foods to thaw overnight for my husband to take for his lunch the next day. It is really nice to be able to "shop" our freezer for a custom meal "a serving of mashed potatoes, a serving of corn casserole, a serving of homemade veggie soup, a grilled chicken breast, a couple of muffins or whatever we are in the mood for. It has helped save us from eating out many times and all of these things were stuff that would have sat in the fridge and gone bad in times past. This way we have no waste and also it makes me feel very on top of things having all these options to pull down and use 💁♀️
Great tips! Personally, I have to just stay out of the stores all together. I do grocery pick ups and online orders. Walking around and browsing is just too tempting for me. Happy holidays everyone!!
You probably meant house not car 🙃 But I agree! We are a military family, and every time we are stationed somewhere I can work we continue living only with his salary, and we save and invest mine
Laura I used to feel like grocery pickup was me being "lazy", "making someone ELSE do my shopping when I'm perfectly capable and a stay at home mom with time"?! HECK YES! You definitely spend less because it's not all the impulse "ooh, that looks good" purchases, or "wow, it's on sale"! I love it now! So much easier for meal planning too, buying just what you need for each meal!! Happy Holidays!
@@kjoscrappinmama what stay at home mom has time tho?!?! 😂🤣 but seriously. Grocery pick up is a huge sanity saver for me as well….not having to haul multiple tiny humans into a store is 🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻
I gave my daughter my Bath&Body free item coupon, I know it'll cost me $200 to walk around for the free item🤷🏾♀️🤦🏾♀️
@@lcn706 Well, not gonna lie, they're 15 and 17, but for the past 2 years, partly due to COVID/shutdowns, etc., I've been doing mostly pickup, but technically I DO have time while they're at school, but who wants to spend 1-2 hours shopping?! Loading, unloading, loading, unloading into the car, bringing in the house, putting it all away?! Ugh! If I can even cut out some of those steps I'm happy to!!
It DOES take a while to get used to an empty-ish fridge. With only two of us in the house, we don’t need a jammed fridge. Always appreciate your tips.
Even when my fridge is "empty," it is full with 20 different hot sauces and salsas.
@@americafirst9144 heck ya! lol
@@americafirst9144 Yes, that is an issue at our house.
Things that make me broke, watching influencers and buying what they recommend and I really don’t need it. 😂 I finally have stopped doing this!
Yesss!! It’s amazing what I think I need when I watch all those influencer lists!!!

After COVID and struggling to get food when there were shortages, I will always keep extra food on hand.
I went back to mowing the lawn myself after the yard guy suddenly moved away. That was a luxury, not a necessity. Now I save money and get exercise at the same time.
If I am tempted at let’s say browsing the sale rack and leave the store with nothing the first thing I do when I get home is tell my husband that I was tempted but didn’t make a huge purchase …. He will always praise me tell me that he realizes how hard that is and give me a huge hug followed by how proud he is of me!!
It’s crazy to think but this is so helpful!!
One of the biggest money sucks for me is the fact that I have food anxiety due to not having a lot when I was a young adult. So, whenever I find a cheap price on something (usually meats) I will buy a lot of it, vacuum seal it and put it in my deep freezer. There have been times I have to admit that due to this obsession of mine, it has helped us out immensely during emergencies. I try not to be too hard on myself for this type of anxiety buying.
I understand completely. I have faced hunger in the past. I have a fear of running out of food. Also compounded by the fact that my husband is in construction . Sometimes the jobs suddenly end. To help me not buy more than we can eat ,I do no months .I only buy food for the frig so I can eat through frozen food and pantry items.
I put items in wish lists and go thru it later. I have found 9 times out of 10 I delete the item. This really helps!
On number 1, I noticed that buying when I'm actually OUT of something is usually better than buying when I'm ALMOST out of something. It was especially true of perishables, including beauty products.
Another note: outsourcing is amazing for people with ADHD or chronic pain/illness.
As to eating out or ordering in, when I can I like to make a bigger batch of the meals I cook that freeze well. Then I have homemade chili ready to go. I also have a selection of really easy sometimes microwaved homemade meals, like pasta, or salad with beans, and don't shy away from a sandwich for dinner. 😀
I have taken up running and been very consistent for the last 2 weeks. I have running shoes but they are 10 years old and they have wear, but I dont currently NEED new shoes so I told myself when I've been consistent with running for 6 months then I'll allow myself new shoes.
I did the same recently!
Yes, it's a good idea to build (or rebuild) the habit first, THEN reward yourself with new equipment for it once you have proven to yourself that you are committed to the activity. With running shoes though, I have learned that even though they appear to be in good shape, the support and materials may be worn down. I would recommend a cheap, temporary upgrade (to prevent pain) by replacing the insoles in your old trainers for now.
Great tips. I need to work on what I purchase from the grocery store . The other day I had to toss some chicken I'd let go bad. My husband didn't want chicken the day I'd planned that meal. Instead of freezing it, I left it in the meat drawer. It hurt to waste $10 of food. It adds up quickly.
You’re so close to a million!!! Hopefully you hit it by the new year you deserve it! Have a great day thank you for this video!!
This is very interesting! I grew up in Tokyo area and I am currently living in the US. The first time I came to the states several years ago for study abroad, I was so surprised at the fridge full of food (not attaching any positive or negative connotation to it but just as a fact). I could not see much space in it, although every family here is different. In Japan, I think fridge at families in general is not empty yet has a lot more empty space I would say. I think partially because food is so much more fresh than most of the food here and they would not last for a while, so most of us especially in cities, go get food when we actually need them, so I would say we do not have "stock-up food culture." because of the space (haha Japanese houses are way smaller than the ones in North America (I only know the general sizes of the houses in these countries, so I say North America but I do believe other countries have much bigger average house sizes in Japan!), typically we do not have like storages/pantry in Japan, at least I have never seen them in Japan (typically we do not have basement inside the house either!). I think we Japanese can do groceries very often because of so much more availability of supermarkets in the cities as well as convenience stores (sometimes there are four or five different convenience stores within 2 minutes walking distance from one to the other, which i sometimes think is unnecessary tbh) Usually grocery stores are walking distance to many houses when it comes to cities and suburbs and we have way less varieties in supermarkets like there are not 20 different kinds of toast which I was complaining about when I was just fantasizing everything about America when I was younger. Having more variety can be fun for sure but it would make us want to buy more and also it can result in more food waste... (still Japan has food waste problem regardless for sure). These are just something I have found as difference from one culture to another, not like which is better or not, and it is very interesting to notice them by living in different countries:)
I feel so satisfied when my fridge is pretty sparse at the end of the week. Feels like such an accomplishment lol
Wonderful points! There is no better feeling than being debt~free!
I have a rule for non-food: I only buy it if something is broken/not usable anymore or empty. For everything I buy something has to go and since I don't want to throw away good, usable things (yes also applies to clothes!) I rarely buy things. I ask myself: Do I need it and if yes, why, what for? Food: Eating at a restaurant is a special occasion for us. Things I can store go into a box, so it must be empty to be refilled. And we luckily have a very small fridge and not a lot of storage space. And we go to the supermarket (not by car! And if you have to carry it you make sure to only buy what you really need) and buy at least twice a week fresh food, so we only buy what we eat the following days.
I don’t enjoy cooking. Adult living by myself. I cannot bring myself to pay for coffee outside of the house as I think most of it tastes like swill. I have recently started just making soup and a sandwich (I’m currently in the grilled cheese and tomato phase), and it is saving me money and calories. I thought I needed to make a meal. I don’t. Easy and simple is saving me time and money.
Healthy cereal with fruit on top is one of my favorite meals.
No cooking and just a bowl to clean.🙂
For sure. Our weekly meal plan is always soup and sandwiches on Mondays in the colder months.
Merry Christmas. Thank you for all your blogs in 2022. I can’t wait to meet your beautiful new baby in 2023. God bless.
I like the tip about impulse purchasing. I fight that all the time. Now I do two things before I buy something - I put it on a list and leave it there for a bit, and I talk about it with my husband. Either of those thing may make me realize that I really don't need it. Maybe he'll say "You know we already have one of those in the basement, right?" or after sleeping on it I'll lose interest in buying it. On Amazon I'll put something in my cart and then hit 'save for later' so that I will first consider if it's really a useful purchase.
You just inspired me to add a 4th trick to the separate comment that I posted (if you want to check it out)! lol
I'm a mom/wife of 6 kids and 3 dogs. All I know about these tricks is that they help me out a ton! lol
What's really helped me with impulse buying is not allowing myself to buy things at night, unless it's something I need. So no matter how much browsing I do, I can't purchase anything until the next day. This has helped me so much. I buy significantly less by sticking to this rule, though with the holidays, it's very hard
Wow, you're the second person that's mentioned this tip in the comment section. Y'all must not be the only ones! lol
I have 3 other ideas/tricks that I shared in a separate comment if you want to check them out. I'm a mom/wife of 6 kids and 3 dogs. All I know about these tricks is that they help me out a ton! lol
Great ideas! When it comes to eating out I buy gift cards at the beginning of the month/ whatever time period because I know I'm inevitably going to not feel like cooking at some point, but then I'm not spending/ have it all already budgeted for. Plus it puts a sort of natural limit on how much I'm even really able to spend.
I’ve been going to the grocery store every other week with inflation as it is. So our fridge was pretty bare when I would go to the store and then I would stock up and our fridge still didn’t look “full.” And then I started thinking well maybe that’s ok. I know and can see everything I have and we eat it all. Thank you for validating those thoughts for me 😆😅
Great tips! When I was first married MANY years ago my husband and I kept track of every penny spent for 3 months. When we reviewed the expenditures we were astonished how much we spent on eating out. It was a wake up call and we woke up!!! Over the years I've revisited this exercise just to see how I am doing.
That whole dopamine from buying online is SO true.
My food budget is $300-$400 a month for my family of three. I changed the way I shop for groceries by shopping the sales, clearance items and stocking up when I can and that’s how I stay in budget every month. Thanks for the video Kallie ❤
I've always liked this idea. How do you meal plan this way tho? I'm trying to figure it out.
@@denisemurphy7445 Hi Denise! I have some meal planning videos on my channel 😊. I shop my pantry/fridge/freezer first and then look at the sales flyers and make meals based on what’s on sale and what I already have on hand. If there isn’t anything great on sale I’ll shop at the cheapest grocery store in town for anything I need to fill in the holes for meals and snacks.

I agree! Good habits lead to more good habits.
Food is a big deal in our house. Finding that balance of healthy choices, time consuming prep, and staying within a budget is a problem we are still working on. Meal planning has been the best avenue so far. A declutter is on the schedule.

Great info on financial independence - same rules apply for weight loss … esp the last one - don’t have goals- the key is positive consistency and discipline and the success in the results will follow 😊
Eating out and buying bodycare for myself is an addiction but I'm going on a no buy from them for a bit, thanks for ur awesome tips 🙂
I went through a phase where I was buying so much from Lush! I liked all the variety. I really had to take a step back and say what do I really like to use on an every day basis (truth not much)
I have considered getting a small fridge for the bedroom like a college one just so the main one isn't overstocked from 3 adults
If I buy something from an online retailer, I unsubscribe from their emails. If it is a company, I want to order from again, I create a bookmark for the site. Then if I want to order again I check my bookmarks.
Yes!! My dad didn't outsource anything growing up-- it was an excellent example of how important it is to figure it out ourselves! Saves a lot of $$
You make me want to be better and do better! You also make me want to give CZcams a go (it feels a bit intimidating), I feel like I have a lot of good things to share. No point into living so close to your maximal debt capacity. Love under your means. Prepare for stormy days. 🙏🏾
For me, impulse purchases happen when I go to the store without a list of what I need. Doesn’t matter if it’s groceries or clothes or toiletries. If I have a list of what I NEED or have planned for, it reminds me while I shop that anything else I’m looking at is an impulse
I agree, having a plan is great and sticking to it is even better!!! I love the tricks and tips! I have followed for a while and I have totally changed the way I look and do things. Thanks for helping me get my life in order and more stress free!!!!🤗 THANKS!!!♥️
Great tips.
I live alone & used to find that buying frozen veg much more convenient than fresh veg. I used to put them into portions for 1 person & cook it in the microwave.
I don’t cook from scratch (No lectures please) & I found ready meals really convenient for 1 person. I can buy a ready meal for about £1.50 or even £1.00 & it would cost a lot more to cook it from scratch.
Unfortunately I’m not able to eat proper meals now as I suffer from Gastroparesis. I suppose in a way that’s it’s one way to save money.😀
I’ve never understood the shoes thing & actually only own 1 pair of shoes & trainers etc.
I buy most of my clothes from M&S. They are great quality, fit me well & can be tumble dried, whereas clothes from Primark etc don’t.
You really do share quality content. This is a timely video to encourage us to take more control of our finances now Christmas spending is nearly done.
A No More Debt 2023 would be a fantastic challenge too get your teeth into. Money saved can go directly to current debt. It is possible, it's something you can definitely do!!! Invest in yourself instead of stuff.
I don't buy anything l can't pay for because my budget is small.
We now have no mortgage or car payments and No Debt. It is so freeing. Having savings, we call our emergency fund, that we don't ever break into is also key!
Wishing everyone a wonderful Christmas time. 😊🌲❄️
If you do eat out, you can save a lot of money by ordering water. Ordering water is typically free, with free refills.
Water to drink and NO desert. Deserts are often not that good anyway and usually very expensive.
Yes, water and no appetizers or desserts.
I strongly disagree with that retail therapy stat you mention (I always get so happy when my package arrives), but maybe I am the exception. But my issues are more the impulse purchase side and the "buying the convenience" side. I was buying way more than I needed, and while everything has made my happy, now I am at the point where I have too much and I'm facing the consequences of this "I deserve it" attitude. It's a no-buy 2023 for me.

Really good! Thanks! Happy Holidays 🎄
I agree with everything but the food portion. As long as you are using the food before expiration dates, I don't see harm in purchasing foods on sale and stocking up for a later date. I shop sales especially meats and freeze them. Then I don't purchase that item full price. Such as country style ribs go on sale for 99 cents a pound and I will buy as many as I can to use later. I always make meals bigger so that there are leftovers for lunches. Rarely is anything wasted. We would have to get sick to waste food.
Excellent as always, Kallie ! Happpy New Year ! - Liz

So many great points. I’m going to watch my overbuying on food moving forward

Definitely true about things being advertised on Instagram or Facebook that I feel I need. Also buying un-needed things in stores. There's times that I'm in certain stores that I think to myself.. I could Just leave the carriage and walk out the door and I will not miss one thing I left behind. My life will be fine without any of it. I've done it when lines were too long in stores like Christmas Tree Shop, Dollar Tree, & Five Below. Also Michael's craft store or Joanne Fabrics. These are places I don't ever need to go unless it's for one specific thing. I am just there to wasting money. To me these are just " I want this" kind of stuff. Nothing I really need.
I've been scammed twice. That's enough to cure me.
Thanks for the tips!
We are empty nesters and BOY did I over cook for a while after. My husband is NOT a big left over person sooo food waste happened - NOW I am much better about only cooking the amount needed for that meal - We may cook three porkchops for the two of us BUT that's because he DOES like leftover pork (not chicken) and so do I - sooo much MONEY and TIME saved - and much less food waste ...I also do a meal plan for two weeks at a time starting on our pay day ...we write it on the kitchen calendar with the honey do list ...glenda

Great video! Thank you.
Great tips. Thanks for such reminders 😍
Thanks for the tips on impulse shopping! Definitely will test this
Thank you for posting this. Very wise advice. In the past, I have struggled with impulse buying. What has worked for me is I take a photo of the regretted item with my phone and keep it as a reminder so the next time I'm tempted to buy something on impulse I can pull up the photo and get the visual reminder of my mistake. This has saved me from making additional mistakes, especially with more expensive items. My goal for the new year is to make smarter choices and fewer mistakes.
Great tips! Thanks
Hope your feeling better. I lost my voice this past week and momming without a voice is the actual worst.
Retail therapy is a big issue for me. I've curbed that a little by thrift shopping. A way better rush at way better prices. I also love love love vintage life so I have to thrift for those items.
9:14 ! Yes. I always feel so let down once the item gets here and I open it.
Love your vids! Get well soon!! I'm trying to get use of every thing i have and live with less, harder than I thought. And yes, I looooove shopping just for the love of it, so I just go app shopping and liking every thing or sometimes adding to cart without buying and I get the same feeling as in shopping but without throwing my money away. And is good also because if I deserve a gift, I know what i would like (and maybe now is in sale 🐱😄)
I really love the idea of checking out once a week. Because I really think that every 20 and $30 spent separately doesn't feel impactful but at the end of the week when you have a cart full of $300 worth of things that you would have purchased a little at a time I think I would be more likely to remove some things from my cart. Thank you for the information I love watching your videos.
can confirm it helps SO MUCH!!! i've saved probably thousands just waiting to actually purchase my carts. the extra time to think really gives you the clarity to ask yourself if you NEED the item or just WANT the item
I get to buy a wishlist item or two over the period of months! So my cart is more like a Pinterest wishlist. lol

A tip my mom gave me to save if you find you have to shop on Etsy: because each product is offered by different online "shop" owners, they each have the option of offering discounts to whoever they wish, whenever they wish to do so. She said when she shops, she NEVER checks out immediately--both to have time to evaluate whether or not she really needs it, AND because she said it you leave items in your cart for a day or more, most shop owners will offer a discount code in order to encourage you to buy their item. So she gets two benefits. One is time to think, and two is she can usually get the item for cheaper if she decides it IS something she wants or needs.
How do you feel about the channels promoting buying food at “ today’s” prices and stocking up because prices will go up. I’m torn between having so much stuff around with the idea I’ll probably be saving money on it in the future.
peace over drama,
distance over disrespect.
The tip about not saving card details on your phone is so spot on.. that literally played out for me yesterday
So much TRUTH about those bad spending habits leading to another. Also what you said about feeling good to click on an order. It's like two shoppers admitting to the other that it's not the purchase, its the thrill of the hunt. Then gung-ho on to the next safari! 🕵🌲🌳🌿🐊🐍🐘🐯🦍
This is great advice! I agree about the emails! I was so revolted by the desperation and guilt used in the emails I received around Black Friday, some were really pushy and it made me so annoyed that I started unsubscribing. I also used the app Unrollme to quickly get them unsubscribed or filed away so I don’t see them. If I don’t see the deals, amazingly I don’t realise that I “couldn’t live without them” lol
Thank you 🙂
Agree about impulse purchases. I just bought two lipsticks last night for no good reason. I have a whole makeup bag just for lipsticks. Also, this Bath and Body Works year end sale is a huge trigger for me. Thanks for thevtips.

love this video so much!! my fiance + i are working on getting out of old debt while also saving for a new (aka used/ new to us) vehicle while simultaneously living in one of the most expensive states in the US. it's awesome to see that a lot of the habits we're practicing are on this list; thank you so much for some new tips to help us on our financial journey!
I'm eating out about once a year 🤟🤣
The absolut best tipps are:
1) Note and calculate everything you buy!
2) Organisation & Decluttering with the Konmarie Method! 🤗
Learning to make pantry-based meals with long shelf-life foods has been helpful for me, or if I order in stretching the food so that I’m getting good ROI on time and energy saved. I got a serious illness so also having some simple and quick backup foods on hand like Applegate or Amy’s so that the food is quick and convenient without being completely low in nutritional value has also helped. I aspire to prep freezer meals but haven’t figured out the storage for that yet! Intention is 99 percent and action is the critical 1 percent at least for me and being more organized!
Thankyou so much for doing this video , this is what I’m doing starting in January meal planning , also asking myself do I need this , why do I need this also using up everything I have I know for a fact right now I have enough toiletries and make up for the next 6 months , could I ask a question trying to save money but buying some extras if we go into lock down again what would you buy and how much would you spend on that on a weekly basis . Xxx
Great tips. I'm proud I mute commercials when I'm watching tv.
I need 10,000 more videos like this because I have a very poor relationship with money. I definitely have a lot of trauma.and I think overspending is my way of soothing myself.
