Great information! After running the diagnostic and smoothly running through the cycles I learned there was NOTHING wrong with my Maytag washer. Therefore, I looked a little further and found that our cold water screens needed to be cleaned out due to our exceptionally rusty water. Next load of laundry washed without stopping mid-cycle. Thank you!
Where do you find the water screen?
Hope that what is wrong with my washer..its stopped on spin cycle ..now the load door want go in the locking safety function..but maybe service man will get figured out...
Wonderful video !!! Originally I got ripped off by the appliance repair guy from Sears who came over to check the washer . He ran a two minute self disagnoses and said it would cost over $600 for a new control board to repair so it wouldn't be worth fixing and gave me a 10% off coupon to buy a new one at Sears and charged me the $79 diagnoses fee . After watching a few of these videos I found out it was the actuator so I bought a new one for $25 , took ten minuts to install and now the machine works perfect. Sears pulled a total rip off scam to get you to buy a new one. I complained to consumer affairs but they said it's legal to scam and cheat consumers and they really don't so anything down there except collect their government pay.

Before doing this, try unplugging the washer for 60 seconds and then plugging it in. After that, open and close the lid 6 times each with in a 12 second period. Give it a bit and it should work. If it doesn't work, try the method in the video

I think my Maytag is done...at least I think the motherboard is. I've had it for 2 years (already used) and had "thinking" problems at first. It seemed to clear itself up after 2-3 loads and had very rare "thinking" problems since. Then I had spinning issues (leaving clothes sopping wet) off and on, basically when it felt like being a "good worker." I tried your diagnostic and it took me at least 10 tries before the lights came on. When they did, I turned it to wash mode. It tried to start, making a noise, then it started to wash with no water and then the lights went off and the lid lock, unlocked, but it was still washing with no water or lights on. It finally stopped and I have not been able to get it back to diagnostic mode again. Also, I tried a regular cycle, it wouldn't start, I turned it off (3 second hold on start button), lights off and lid open, but you could still hear the brain trying to start even with everything off.

THANK YOU MARK !! Never would have I known how to resolve my Maytag Centennial without your video. On the third try of your tutorial I got the Centennial to respond and it went into diagnostic mode. It ran thru the rest cycle and fortunately I didnât need to go in the other direction. It rebooted and I then was s able to run full cycle again. My original problem was it wouldnât unlock and get past sensing mode but your video fixed it . Thanks for saving me MONEY ! If it happens again Iâll look for your codes section video

Great video! Unfortunately I could never get my MVWC300XW1 (Maytag Centennial) to get to the troubleshoot mode or diagnostics. (I wrote your step by step down and tried it at least 10 times). I tried washing a load and heard it click-clacking this evening and pressed the stop button and took a quick look and though it was in the wash mode, the water was crystal clear (no suds) and it was obvious that it wasn't agitating. I unplugged it, waited about 30 seconds, plugged it back in and then it drained. I then turned it to drain and spin and then it did a full wash cycle (including agitating). I did smell a lite electric/motor smell (not heavy) when I lifted the lid.
Anyway - what a POS I dont think I'll ever buy a Maytag product ever again!

One thing I found out this weekend with my machine is that it would not run diagnostics with clothes and water in the drum. We had to remove the clothes and suck the water out with a shop vac. Once we did that, diagnostic mode was brought up really easily. In case anyone is having trouble getting their machine to go into diagnostic mode!
Yep had to do this too. Sucked all the water out of the inside but that wasnât enough. Had to unplug the drain hose in the back. Have your towels ready!! But it finally went into diagnostics mode after that

I have a Centennial but no lights or start button. I tried to go backwards to the setting it was at with no luck. I stood next to it until it was off before it came into another unwanted rinse and took my throw out. Next I put a half load of whites on the hand-wash setting. It worked fine. Next I put next load back to regular/express, and it was fine. I think what started the problem is I bumped into it and caused the lid to slam down. I believe it was divine intervention because I was getting very frustrated!
It sounds like your Divine Intervention helped you out so that sounds good to me. I especially like Divine intervention.
My Whirlpool washer will not start. Shows no sign of life at all. When I tried the calibration procedure, still nothing, no lights come on. Seems like it has no power.
Is there an internal fuse that could be blown?

Mark, thanks for the video and codes. Not sure what I did wrong, but after running some of the tests you suggest, the washer is in constant repeat mode. It's the same exact model as the one in this video - Maytag Centennial. If you don't raise the lid once the load is done, it will start washing it again (and run all night!). I've tried unplugging overnight, pressing and holding reset. Any help you can be would be greatly appreciated.

My is stock at wash...no short spin or rinsing. Pump works fine...took all water out but again no wash spin or rinsing.

Just thought I would add information that I accidentally found......My machine is not draining or spinning correctly either so I was feeling around the edge of the tub inside washer between tub and outside shell...I found a ziplock bag attached (glued maybe) to the shell I opened up baggie and pulled out a little booklet that says "FOR SERVICE TECHNICIAN'S ONLY" and it has how to run diagnostics and error codes in it. Never would have thought that would be there. Hope this helps everyone.

Thanks to you I discovered EXACTLY what you referred to- a baggie w/ booklet in it- like SRSLY superglued to * IN BETWEEN OUTER SHELL AND TUB on *left side liquid bleach drain , nearly breaking my wrist to retrieve this MOST RIDICULOUS placement EVERRRRRR of a trouble shoot for most CRAPPPPPPY product! Like WTH?!. Personally I think this should be airbrushed on outside top lid for those of us subjected to this awful machine. It was brand new when I moved into place- but from day one I could tell how cheaply made this product is- from the banging and uncleanliness job it would do on clothes, even though I have always been extremely cautious to not over load etc... Anyway! I am anxious to see what I can do abt this, trying to be nice to save trouble on my elder landlord...again THANK YOU! I hope I can work something out and get this thing to spin & drain again... fingers xâd! And just â€ïžCZcams for giving more power to the people!! Best~

installed lid switch but still getting switch fault error code and now the striker gets stuck. additionally there is now a pressure sensor issue where it thinks it isnât filling. perhaps I bumped it while taking the top off? I noticed some dripping but was as careful as I could, didnât lift past 45 degrees to ensure i wasnât kinking hoses

Dave Smith The test cycle is there to test what works and what doesn't. So if it won't spin then that is the element to look at.

I know these replies are old but I'm hoping someone will see this and can guide me in the right direction. Does anyone have any information on what this problem was, like y'all were having, and what needs to be done to fix it? It's right here at Christmas and I don't have the extra funds to purchase a new washer or pay a repairman. I might have the same issue. I ran all manual tests, looked into all special resistance and continuity testjng. All i see left is a lid safety sensor failing.

Hi Crystal, the spinning action doesn't spin the water out there is a pump, that pumps it out. Have a look at my error codes Video and see what error codes are given to you. But when this happens it is usually the pump and sometimes the controller.

Hi Toni, The test cycle is there to test what works and what doesn't. So if it won't drain then that is the element to look at.
