Skateboarding is a spectrum. On one end you have "Artistic Expression" and on the other end you have "Athletic Performance". Pros that call their skateparks "training facilities" and are accused of being robotic skew toward the Athletic side of the spectrum. Pros that ooze a unique style, perform unconventional tricks at unconventional locations/obstacles, and incorporate novel fashion or music into their skating skew to the Artistic side. Some stay on one end, most of us fluctuate somewhere in the middle.
Athletic, artistic, young, old, male, female... there is room for everybody in skateboarding.

Then you got people hating on both sides too. Lots of people hate on Nyjah and them but I hear even more hating on Richie Jackson or Abe Dubin. Super wack either way.
Screw the athletic aspect lol all about style. No one even watches comps anymore

i like how mark gonzales pushes everyone else around him to the limit of just goofing around
I hope his mentality can reach a large chunk of skaters and remind them that we do this for fun. To be expressive and creative, to show our unique aspects and styles. Yeah, you can make it about competition, but that almost damages the core of what skating is. Thanks for the vibe check on skating, Mark.

I could listen to Mark Gonzales talk for hours. Such purity and genuine admiration for life, people, art, and skateboarding.
The "No time for negativity" and Olympic talk were words of magic. This is so much Gonz footy for one sitting and it was awesome and inspirational. You can never have enough Gonz footy.

Mark is a true artist. He sees things differently than most!
Mark and Nora are what skateboarding is. They are both artists their art is inspired by skateboarding and their skateboarding is inspired by art. I love their personalities too they are both goofy fun people. They skate because its all about having fun. Gonz doesn’t give a crap about Poser stuff and trends. I love them and am so glad they did a fun video together

Mark Gonzales is one of my most favorite skaters because he has never tried to be anyone besides himself or do anything that wasn't fun
I’ve watched so many skate videos in my life but this short video said so much to me. When I skate with my wife and kids or with my friends, I am living that moment and having so much fun. Skateboarding is so beautiful.

Enjoy his skateboarding style 🛹 This morning I went to this kinda hidden spot that is fun for grinds and boar slides and then went to the skatepark, skated I while longer. I appreciate skateboarding because it makes me feel free, time stands still.

I love this so much.... the crew, the clips, different side of skateboarding than usually on Thrasher. I love the gnarly shit but sometimes it's about expression, art and individuality.
