Someone? You mean the guy who revolutionized style in skateboarding and what it means to look cool, during the highest gate keeping, hater point of all time? Ok. Literally an entire generations favorite skater. @@jeremylamovsky3669
Brandon Westgate is my favorite skater from the last few years. Hes like a slinky fucking puma just springing around the gaff.... Fuckin' class lad....
You know who else had sick style and a beautiful backside air, Christian Hosoi. He may not have been as technical as Tony Hawk but his style and flow was far superior. To not mention Daewon Song in the topic of style is damn near criminal.
The people with the best style will land a trick slightly off balance and make it look cooler than basically anyone else doing the same thing but cleaner. Like that old Guy clip from what may have been the old world park after Ginos spot
or just dudes like ethan fowler doing a bs 360 in rocker jeans w a jean jacket. Just blasting through a street skating crusty curb cuts and stoops. Theres a fine line between that style and someone like HK doing a bs tail kickflip out to fakie on a rail.
geez no mention of Barbee, Hufnagel, Stevie Williams, Muska, Jeremy Klein, or Markovich? all who I believe had beautiful styles. Nonetheless, this was a great video post. I miss ON Skateboarding vids.
Always kind of seemed like a dude who had any sort of trick variation involving turning front-side on lock (tailslides, lipslides, etc) and not much else...
I totally agree that style matters, and actually that's what I appreciate the most in a skater. BUT at the same time many of these guys sound like old people who cannot accept that younger generations have surpassed them massively (and many modern skaters have incredible style too), so they stick to this "style thing" as a way of thinking "old times were better"... which is actually and ironically a NOT stylish attitude. Guys, most of modern brilliant skaters admire the old legends, and instead you go with this attitude. Have more respect.
Where the hell was Mike V??? Vallely oozes style every second of the day!!!!! Great documentary though....alot of cool names i havent heard in awhile!!
Style still matters no matter what you're doing. If you know you know, everyone has a style that's just the way people move. I would say if you have a strange or uncomfortable style it's okay because it evolves over time and experience. We all go through it and it develops with comfortability in whatever it is you're doing.
such a shame how that panned out, he was amazing though and was a great and would have been greater if circumstances would have allowed, I feel for him, I really do.

Jesus that hardflip at 3:05. The steeze.
switch too!
This is my favorite on video segment by far. Now let’s go skate.
a video about style and not a single word about Tom Penny? come on, how can you sleep on that.......
Because it'd be like me telling you water is wet. You know. That and there's so many awesome styles, someone was getting left out.

Yeah Holmes was in a league of his own that’s for sure ❤️🛹
I love new skating, Yuto, Nyjah, Shane O'neill particularly, but watching Tom Penny or Ray Barbee do a FS flip is a cut above and always will be.
Style peaked from 95-07
@@juvedoo99 aimu yamazuki will give u hope for current era skateboarding. he's the next style god.

Plus when it's such a ridiculous trick you gotta find balance sometimes because Guy was certainly trail blazing then and now! Great comment man!❤️🛹

its interesting that style still matters in skateboarding, however in surfing, style doesnt matter, either culturally or competitively...
