The idea was Malphite 1 shots the squishies. They didn't expect the Taric.
They expected the Lucian (post game interview) they wanted to try a Lulu counter. The Taric was the game changer

Honestly fnc played this one bad. Like the lulu into lucian was questionable but they played parts of the game they needed to get right so bad.

Why did FNC choose 3 supports and not have a hypercarry (lulu, senna, leona) like Graves doesn't scale the BEST and malphite doesn't do much dmg unless he builds some ap. I'm just so confused

I think they were aiming for Selfmade's jungle carry but with a slight change to the LPL/LCK style while GenG was a classic LCK pick
The meta in LPL/LCK likes a strong top in laning phase (renekton,camile) with a high potential jungler(nidalee,lillia, graves)
Leaving lucian open was a big no no, say what you will, but geng clapped them hard.
GENG had a really good early game and could have gone FNC way but I am not necessarily mad at the draft. It was more execution

Cassio would have been such a good pick for fnatic
what about ryze? was he played in worlds so far? I think he could've also performed well against the enemy team altough I don't know how he would perform in the 2v2 or even survive lane as I have no insights into the match up but Cassio definetely seems neat against so many dashes.
Both Cassio and Ryze are hyper scaling that doesn't work well into Lucian-Nidalee and would make for a super weak jg/mid 2v2 until both get their second item, while lucian is strong early and synergizes well with Nidalee, who is herself a good counterpick into Graves.
Lulu was a fine pick, the problem was Lucian and Aphelios getting two kills each very early in the game and both getting 5 plates as well from messy dives
Aurélien Becht Cassio counters Lucian she has a good matchup into him. And she can kill nida also easy
@@Teaj682 Cassio can punish Lucian if he overextends, but no way Cassio can win 1v1 against Lucian before she's halfway through stacking her tear. Yeah ok her w can ground him and Nidalee, but it's more of a late trade tool, which requires Lucian to play greedy and Cassio to not fuck it up, especially since its mana cost and its cd are huge and easily punishable for Lucian.
Also, it's not only about getting kills, it's also about having some agency on the map and being able to roam efficiently and punish enemy junglers, which Lucian can do better than Cassio until basically level 11, when laning phase is over. Also, Lucian spikes at 1-2 items, while Cassio needs 2-3 items (with fully stacked tear) to be able to do what she does best in normal games (yes, if she's 2 levels and 1k gold ahead, she's gonna slap hard, but I'm talking about more likely scenarios), so picking Cassio is more of a handshake mid than anything, which is very harmful for Graves as he needs good flanking paths to be worth. In a meta where teams play around junglers, Graves-Cassio is a bad matchup into Lucian-Nid, even if their kill potential might be slightly higher

Gen G stepped up and rofl-stomped the cocky laugh/dance from Bwipo and Selfmade. LPL and LCK teams have the skill to match their discipline, unlike G2 and FNC.
LPL and LCK have always been like that but G2 and FNC have good showings in Bo5s vs them teams always ( minus the last 2 world finals (yeah so they went worlds and beat alot of LPL and LCK a few times ) just chill and relax.

best adc is Carzzy or Rekkles or Hans Sama and best Midlaner is by far Caps and behind that Humanoid and LArssen. Nemesis is the weak spot of Fnatic but his performance in Worlds is ok to good

1. G2 Caps = expect a monster performance.
2. RGE Larssen / MAD Humanoid = both are great but each to their own style.

2. FNC Rekkles = mr. consistency

If they don't have mid champ pool they should pick the mid to match Lucian at third pick. If you don't get to pick Leona there are other good picks for support, like Naut, TK, Bard, Taric. Imagine instead of a Lulu mid they had an Ori or Syndra with Malphite. But GenG nailed the ban after their mistake. What a draft disaster.

To me this seems like a super bad draft, no damage in Top, Mid, Support and ADC only starts to be a real threat really late into the game, the only true carry is a melee Range jungler with two shots before he has to reload.

Rekkles said that they were expecting the Lucian and wanted to try this type of counter, he suggest that they have multiple counter to it (tho this one failed) and it wanted to try if it could work. Overall he was humble and happy about the result and we should expect something (hopefully)
I want to see bwipo against nuguri in the toplane. I like both of them dont get me wrong

Yep, so low damage and draft dependent from senna scales. I would have picked Cassiopea. Idk very well the match up but I think she would have been good vs Lucian and would have brought way more damage

Nemesis champ pool is small and weird. Akali would have been 1000 times better, sylas could work really well because taric ult is OP AF, Lucian ult for disengage is ok aswell or to insta wipe nidalee. a lot more options that other really good mid laners have in their pools.

The problem with NA is that their best team(TSM) is a BO5(best of 5) team. They arent that good in BO1. While other teams like FQ, C9 and TL are good in BO1 but are bad in BO5...If the group stage was a BO5 TSM would easily make it out of groups, while the others probably woudnt. TSM´s best NA split was when they changed the format to a BO3. They went 17-1 but lost the first game of the series so many times, They have great adaptability. But like i said. in a BO1, not that great, not strong enough.

Jokes aside Fnatic's best chance is to get in quarters with SUN and even that won't be easy. Other than that RIP. However even if they got first two of the options are g2 to which they constantly lose or JDG or DRX/TES so technically speaking if they get SUN they get a better quarterfinal than the other alternatives.
