Pretty good explanation, but the essence of Plato's message is that if you keep people in the dark and feed them BS, then they won't believe the truth when they hear it and are likely to attack those who try to explain the truth to them.

This was a very amazing explanation of this allegory. It is fruitful to be open minded and see both sides of a situation. People cannot only see the shadows, they also need to see the sun and see what is right and wrong is wrong, what makes them comfortable, and what pushes them out of their comfort zone and learn what we really have to offer each other instead of being ignorant about everything. Wonderful video!

New Age Bohemian, I was assigned to write a paper for my college class. I have to compare and contrast this essay with another reading. I tried reading this book yesterday and it was too hard and I didn’t understand a single word. Today I decided to go and see my professor to explain it to me, but then I found your video and u explained it very very clearly to where I can understand every little detail. Keep up the great work man 👍🏽👍🏽

Pretty good job explaining the symbolism. While 'religion' could potentially be a puppeteer, I disagree that, "it may make you close minded on things like homosexuality." Having an opinion on homosexuality that differs from yours does not mean a person is ignorant. They can be just as informed and arrive at a different conclusion.

To wake up, awakening, striving toward en'Light'en'ment, really means to go past just what only brain and eyes show you, and what society teaches you, go past all that, and learn more,
and feel the More that's out there, (Consiousness) and all that Consiousness can possibly be, Be a part of that instead, there are endless dimensions and realities, this is just one.

Hi Brian I believe that 100% in fact I did research on that subject for a long time and i am still doing that. Just that when I interpreted Platos words they were a bit different then most western religions (ex Buddhism and Hinduism) version of enlightenment. For me there are different types of enlightenment but the teachings of spirituality are defiantly one.

Exactly, and since time immemorial shamans in the ancient forests, deserts and jungles practiced the art of lucid dreaming. By bringing consciousness into their dreamstate little by little, more and more, year after year, they find their way to the inner world. No longer simply dreams. No longer a transparent astral dream body, but a solid real body. And along the way, the vibrations in parts of the body (groin, stomach, heart, throat, etc.) precede the visions from past lives lived. Until, ultimately, they merge into the single one. And after the white light appears, after the sleep paralysis, you look around and the tears shoot from your eyes. Oh, the wonder of it all. And then, the hearing starts to come as the sounds from your room fade away. You must make a decision. What will YOU do? Stay or go?

    Hello sir,
Thank you for this video. You were so great at explaining to us. I wanted to ask because I heard scientifically from a College Proft, who teaches in-depth Anatomy that we should not at all be swimming 30 min after we eat. So since I heard it from a scientist himself in an actual lab where we got to literally see and touch real live humans, I was just wondering if you had any scientific link(s) that supports what you had said of not swimming 30 minutes after we eat as it is just a "myth" . I am honestly a first-year student that knows so little on this topic, yet wants so bad, just like Socrates to seek the truth. so when I heard 2 opposing sides, I thought I'd ask, just so that I can eventually come to a final truth. Plus I am going into the health field. So this is important for me.
Hope you can help as I may be that prisioner still turned around with this,
    Alexis

How are you so sure if they are there since birth that they would call a flower a flower, and know it as one, and its function or qualities? It will not smell; there will be no bee pollinating it; it will not have color, and be but the same color of all the objects they have no language for or have been given. How can you be so sure of your conclusions? Love, Socrates

See if you like this explanation. Its super simple, like a simplified college class in 20 minutes. just watch the first 5 at least, see if you like. type in youtube, "Hinduism in nutshell, a must watch",
give the young lady a chance. Its the most open, fair, tolerant & free religion modern Hindu. And it leaves it up to you, to find whatever form of it you prefer or just use it as philosophy.

Very good explanation, he is very clear about a complex allegory. But he had me till about the 6 minute mark where he suggested we should have our own mix of religion and philosophy. So in other words make up our own enlightenment? That to me becomes another level of ignorance.

I think his point is that every person on this planet is unique and will learn in their own way. To blindly accept the teachings of another is analogous to being chained or possibly believing the fire is the source of wisdom. When one questions everything, one can grow beyond oneself. Keep in mind that we can move (or allow ourselves to be moved) between different caves. I would love to explore a multi cave structure in more detail. Remember that Socrates and Plato lived well before any modern religion (~400BC).

How can you come to the truth, and real understandings of who and what shadows are being shown to the masses and be happy?
I think if you came to happiness, you are either sinister and taking joy of others pain, or.... you must be in another cave.

  • @joewhlm

LGBT = puppeteers . Now you can name call.

  • @FainaruFurasshu
    @FainaruFurasshu Před 3 lety

False mental constructs: Good & Evil, justice, mercy, duty, that altruism is good, honor, ownership rights, human rights, that humans have inherent value, karma, that the different races are equal in physical and mental capacities, that there are more than 2 genders, that war and slavery is bad etc etc. Good and Bad are based on perspective, like most things.
The outside world in the allegory represents the real world, which is the physical world. You're outside of the cave once you can observe the real world without culture or other subconscious mental constructs that were induces by other agents AND!!! once other people attack you when you try to show them the true light. If you can't handle it, then run to mommy and cry. Maybe she can give you some milk and cookies.
Your reactionary emotional state (TRGGRD???) only proves Socrates right.
    >The returning prisoner, whose eyes have become accustomed to the sunlight, would be blind when he re-enters the cave, just as he was when he was first exposed to the sun (516e).[2] The prisoners, according to Plato, would infer from the returning man's blindness that the journey out of the cave had harmed him and that they should not undertake a similar journey. Plato concludes that the prisoners, if they were able, would therefore reach out and kill anyone who attempted to drag them out of the cave (517a).
You need to observe real nature and animal+human beehive-ior (real objects) to build true mental constructs that you can trust. Media, theater, act-whores, music videos, movies, tv shows etc... builds false mental constructs because the subconscious mind cannot tell the difference between reality and fiction. Some scientists calls it "false memories", these are then interpreted by the conscious mind, you, as reality. Fiction and reality merges into a new reality that you believe is real, we also call this reality for propaganda.
“All art is propaganda; on the other hand, not all propaganda is art.” - George Orwell
For the few that manages to escape the cave: pass it on! because a world filled with free individuals who creates their own reality is so much more fun than a world of soulless slaves. p.s: I don't even care if Socrates didn't mean this. Allegories and quotes are like mathematical formulas, and the allegory of the cave is amazing.
REMEMBER! IF PEOPLE DON'T ATTACK YOU AND TRY TO KILL YOU AFTER YOU LEAVE THE CAVE, THEN YOU'RE STILL IN IT! KEEP DREAMING ABOUT THE SUN!
