  • This was initially supposed to be a surprise for the channel reaching 10K subs, but I got incredibly side-tracked. This is a video idea I've had ever since I started my channel. I wanted to make an easy to understand guide to Emergency Alert System event codes, in order to help out new creators. Feel free to use and share this guide however you want (other than reposting it on your channel obviously).

    2 things:
    - You did a very good job with this video as I am now able to understand _everything_ regarding Alerts
    - Beside the "BLUE ALERT", Florida (as far as I heard) has at least 2 other, yet unofficial color alerts:
    *Purple Alert Plan* to engage the puplic in a wide spread search of a missing person, and *Silver Alert* to quote "locate missing persons suffering from an irreversible deterioration of intellectual faculties" (or for normies: Elder person with for Example Alzheimer). As far as my friend know and I understand, these are only used by the State of Florida.

    • @TheUrbanGaze
      @TheUrbanGaze Před rokem +1

      Silver Alerts are common in other states. My home state of WA uses Silver Alerts. But unlike Amber alerts these aren't nationally unified.

      @@TheUrbanGaze That's some damn good info I'll note down for the search. Thank you!

      Texas has silver alerts too, they’re pretty strictly for the elderly as far as I know

    • @catsandfriends5918
      @catsandfriends5918 Před rokem +2

      Apparently there is a CLEAR code now too in Texas; it is meant for people between 18-64 that are in danger or may have been kidnapped.

      @TheDixieDerg Před rokem

      Here in NC I've heard a silver alert before. Also you do not typically get a actual EAS alert for them like you would with a Amber alert.

    This is great!
    Fun fact tho: Emergency action terminations have been discontinued by the FCC since 2012, and if an emergency action notification were to actually occur, it would play as any other alert (the only difference is that it would mandatory to play on all stations)

    20:53 So I was interested in learning more about this alert as well, so I reached out to the Nws offices in Alaska, and they just got back to me. They said that it isn't used by any office, and never was. It was programmed into NWR since it was going to be used, but never ended up being used.

    Even though I’m not a EAS content creator, it is really cool to learn about real/fictional EAS Codes!
    This is pretty entertaining.. or educational. Dunno!

    Missed a critical detail: the purpose of the Emergency Action Notification (now known as National Emergency Message, but still uses the EAN code) is for the President or their designated representative to address the nation within 10 minutes of issue. Emergency Action Termination & National Information Center Statement have also been retired.
    Pro tip: Know which EAS standards you are using in accordance with the time your alert(s) take place. The above comment applies to 2022 & the foreseeable future. Additionally, the extra event codes section were originally implemented around 2002, but are now considered optional. Codes such as Storm Surge Watch/Warning were part of a set of codes implemented for 2017.

    The Emergency Action Notification has been renamed the National Emergency Message.
    The Emergency Action Termination has been discontinued.
    And there is now a test called the National Periodic Test in addition to RWTs and RMTs.

    I'm already an EAS uploader but this is a great video, also in certain states (such as my own (Pennsylvania)) CAEs are not transmitted by NWR, but by TV, Radio, and WEAs

      I guess technically speaking it could still be under a HMW. But if it was a terrorist attack or something like that, I would probably make it a Civil Danger Warning.

      Bro made the EAS Bible including the 4 commandments:
      1) Thou shall stay aware in a *Advisory*
      2) Thou shall prepare in a *Watch*
      3) Thou need action in the time of a *Warning*
      4) Thou shall stay up to date in a *Statement*
