    Really great overview of the most common available Surfskates. I'm neither a surfer nor a skater by heart and only ever did some snowboarding before I stumbled across the new Surfskate craze about 2 years ago. With this background in mind i couldn't agree more on how good the slide boards are for beginners in (surf) skating in a multitude of aspects.
    They have a very stable tipping point, they got no radical lean and don't jackknife. What I love especially however is the amount of thrust they generate along with being one of the lowest riding trucks which makes them really beginner friendly. As there is a lot of cobblestone in my city I crafted one layer of riser pads and slapped on some 95mm shark wheels. Although it's a pain to push compared to lower decks, it does a really great job of making pumping over the rough surface possible. Exactly as you claimed, those slides are really versatile trucks/decks!

    Older person here and Ihave been watching your videos and love them. I have surfing and skateboarding background. Never could get into skateboarding like all the street tricks, but enjoy just cruising. Thinking of ordering the Carver Skinny Goat CX. I am female 5’5”, and I cannot wait to try surfskating.

      I tried my new Carver CX for the first time today (Black Tip), and Surfskating is an absolute blast. I have surfing and skating background,which helps me to catch on to it. A good workout too. In the future I plan to experiment with different wheels & bearings, perhaps Orangutang Love Handles, the new SurfSkate Love wheels…..

    Love this channel, made my decision on buying my first surfskate a lot easier! Question: saw Shane Lai’s recent review of a new surfskate that seems very promising - Grasp surfskate - any plans to do a review of this one, and comparison to the other in your quiver?

    In my experience, I think CX4 or other PU truck is better for surfing training, because on spring trucks, people can easily get used to wiggle their ankles to drive the surfskate, which is a really bad habit for surfing.

    Thank you! Perfect video for me as I was just deciding between Slide and Carver CX. It seems that you prefer cx so I will go with that as well. I'm not into surf training, just need nice surf skate cruiser for pumping and carving. I'm only bit afraid that cx is pretty high, making it harder for my knees to push.

  • @bobnery
    @bobnery Před 2 lety +3

    Might make for a good video to get a surfer on who has ridden a variety of surfboards so they can say, surf skate X feels like a typical shortboard, surf skate Y feels like a traditional longboard, surf skate Z feels like a mid etc. It's no fault of your own, you are very upfront about not being a surfer, but someone who rides traditional logs would probably find a YOW a nightmare if they were wanting a traditional longboard feel. Heck even short thick grovel boards are really resistant to rail surfing and can be emulated pretty closely by a TKP skate set up.

    In your first videos you preferred slide over carver CX, in fact you did not like the CX that much, and I agreed. To me the CX is too stiff and lacks the pump that the Slide has. My first choose would also be Yow. After Yow I would go for Slide. Actually, I have 3 Yow Meraki, 1 Slide and 1 Carver CX that I’m going to sale.

    Btw put aside consideration about what to buy if you’re not in usa, prices are very different here…. I’m in europe and the price are: 250/300€ yow, 300€+ carver, 180/200 slide, 60€ waterborne+rail, 320€ swelltech…. I was about to buy a cx clone ( outride surfskate, search them ) but then I found a yow j-bay new for 200€

    Hey one thing I didn't notice in your selection (even in the boards in back), was Revenge trucks. I have ridden Revenge trucks for years, and am thinking about getting a Waterborne adapter to use with them. But I also know that Revenge is kinda a dated tech? (Or maybe it's just proven?) but I get a lot of people asking me about my Revenge trucks, and they are often surprised at how turny they are. And I'm curious what your own opinion of them is compared to other surf skate trucks. Thanks!

  • @kanablis1946
    @kanablis1946 Před 5 měsíci

    True surf training should be done in a bowl.. the surfskate wiggle does NOT translate to surfing a vertical wave. The compression/extension in a bowl is surf training. The Carver CX is probably the best truck for that type of bowl surf training.

      @@SurfskateLove Understand the intention! I just know so many guys that just cannot afford 300ish Surfskates. For these an old school deck 2nd hand plus cheap trucks is the option.
