- In today’s video, I show you what I typically eat in about a week of meals on the road. I do it all without a fridge using a one-burner butane stove! And if you watch to the end, there’s an amazing spatula tip from Coralie @Jump With No Fear (link: • What grey water?? How ... )
As always, thank you for watching. If you haven’t already, please consider liking, subscribing, and hitting the notification bell to continue to receive content like this. Hope to see you next Saturday!

Your glow tells us all we need to know that your diet is a good model for us all.
Thank you Stephen. I appreciate that. I understand what you mean☺️
She definitely has glow!! Sho nuff!
No, it's not for everyone.
Love your simple low-tech approach to van life - no complicated solar/electrics needed - plus healthy no-refrigerator meal ideas!
Thank you. I have found that simplifying my life is good for my well-being😊
To keep food cold in a little cooler I use an empty hard plastic almond milk jug, leaving space about 2 inches from the top of the bottle so it can expand. It will keep your food cold for several days and when it does thaw completely you can use the water for your coffee.
Great hack. Love it! Might have to try that😛
How do you freeze the jug in the first place, pls? Thank you for this tip!
You’re so resourceful. I can’t imagine doing this without my fridge. Your food looks yummy. And OMG we had so much fun. Great giggles.
Your van is so beautifully done! You don’t need to change a thing. And, thanks to friends like you, I get that occasional cold beverage which is always a treat😋
I bet ya'll got the bunny ear hats out again. How could you not giggle!
Follow you as well Bev and you are so amazing too !! Bravo pour votre travail et bonnes idees a partager ..Un grand Merci !!
@@fabianprioux1136 Thanks. I appreciate you.
I truly believe that someday soon...probably in the spring...I will finally take the leap and try to start my female vanlife journey...and honestly it will be because of this channel..I have watched so many videos and seen so many conversions, and this is the closest to what I want my journey to look like..AND I ABSOLUTELY CANNOT SAY ENOUGH..THANKYOU.. for taking the time to share like you do..you REALLY ARE HELPING OTHER FEMALES
It is truly my pleasure! Your words are such an encouragement because that is exactly why I keep creating content. If it helps one person - but especially a woman feel like this is doable - it is worth it to me. So thank you for saying this♥️🐞♥️
I like to slow roast squash, beets, carrots and parsnips on fire over coals. A metal kabob skewer makes them easier to move around. Try apples or peaches too. The veggies are especially good cooled and put on green salad.
That’s sounds yummy 🤤 Thank you for the suggestion. I’ll give it a try some time♥️🐞♥️
Yum!
Do you have a miniature charcoal grill? Or you use bricks?
Sounds delicious thanks
This was awesome, extremely well produced, and very helpful. Many thanks. :)
If you could please show us housekeeping - how you clean your coffee filter, mug, gear etc (as I know that water and managing waste can be a big deal). Thanks again, and love from New Zealand x xxxx x
Thank you Angela! That is a great idea. I actually had to edit all that out because the video was getting lengthy. Maybe I’ll take all those cuts and make a new one with just that🤔😛☺️
I am interested too!🙃
@@LadyBugout Water management is of great interest for sure!
Since watching your videos I started buying the rice, grains & beans packages & love them. I’ve been sautéing green onion, garlic and a small can of chicken, then adding the mixed grains & rice. Also have mixed Spanish Rice package with the rice & bean - added onion, garlic and stuffed into fresh peppers, wrapped with foil roasted over fire for stuffed peppers. All delicious - thanks for the tips and Safe travels!
Sounds yummy! Yes, my daughter has been buying them too. They are so convenient and easy to prepare a quick nutritious meal♥️🐞♥️
I am hungry and want to try your "recipe" 😊 thanks.
I was just thinking about what I eat that needs no refrigeration...and it turns out that I eat a lot of stuff. I have been doing clean eating...so lots of grains and nuts. Such a good topic...very helpful for van life when you don’t have refrigeration 👍
Yes, Lillian, it is very eye opening when we realize that we don’t need some things we always thought that we did♥️🐞♥️
Good for you! Made me realize I eat nothing but JUNK! I don't think Dee and I could share a meal together, lol. Much respect through, must be so hard off grid with her dietary needs.
Out of all the setups for transit connects I love yours the best simple as can be. If not for my Northern Lite 8'11 camper I'd go transit with a simple build. I love the sofa/bed too. I also use a jackery for power
That is very kind of you! I’m not familiar with Northern Lite campers-I’ll be looking that up now😛 Jackery are great and not just for Vanlife. I would have never known they existed before this, though.
Anita, here you are again🥰 You are the BEST♥️🐞♥️
Just saw you in IG! So fun!!! Also, popped over to your YT channel. Nice to virtually meet you two 😛 See you down the road some time I’m sure♥️🐞♥️
@@LadyBugout that would be awesome to meet up with you. My wife to be and I are from ottawa canada one day we shall meet up.
You are such a doll. Watched you and Bunny several times and really love your positivity! My husband and I live in Branson so we are happy you two were able to enjoy the state park in our area.
Branson is soooo cool. Bunny really knows if we’ll, so it is fun to hang with her and go places she knows. ♥️🐞♥️
I always enjoy watching your videos Dee, there’s always something to learn.
Safe travels dear lady!
Thank you! I’m glad to know that they are of some use. Safe travel to you too! ♥️🐞♥️
I like how you get all the different foods working together to make meals to be filling
Thank you. It is fun for me to experiment☺️
I enjoy how you took us for a journey. Your videos are so peaceful.
Thank you Stacey! I appreciate the encouragment☺️
I love how you made that work for you. If there is a will, there is a way.
Always!!!! ♥️🐞♥️
Dee, I do enjoy your videos. Your outlook on life brings a smile to my face.
Yay! It brings a smile to my face to hear that ☺️
It's so true Dee that we all need to eat what is right for us. Very interesting cooking without a fridge:)
Yes! Glad you found it interesting to watch☺️
I find the subject of vanlife food very interesting. Thank you from the UK
You are very welcome, Andrew from the UK☺️
Boy that was a Great video! You have this Van life figured out Dee. Thanks for sharing your expertise with us.
I’m sure you already know all of this☺️ But, thank you for watching and encouraging me♥️🐞♥️
Another wonderful video! I’ve enjoyed the couple I’ve seen on van food! Everything looks very easy, appetizing and nutritious!
Thank you so much. I am glad you enjoy them☺️
Your analysis on fridgelessness is brilliant! I have hoped for years for a nomad youtuber to make the exact point you did here. Refrigeration is not necessary for a lot of whole plant foods which can keep very well without risk of food poison. Sweet potatoes are 66% of the diet of Okinawan centenarians and last for months in warm storage areas. And rice and beans, nuts, oats etc. keep practically forever. My hotel on wheels is a Prius which has plenty of electricity when desired, but why waste precious space on a fridge when your practical advice works best of all without it and cuts down on total weight of rig. For years I only cooked what is needed in my small Instant Pot for one meal at a time. For the more perishable fruits one must buy these when in town every few days or so OR use dried or canned to stretch a few more days. I was overwhelmed with admiration to find a minimalist like you that is so steeped in Zen and the joy of living! Thanks, you made my day and give me hope!!! Thanks for sharing! :)
I am so glad you found it to be helpful information and that you have experience with it too. It’s funny how accustomed we get to modern conveniences when for years this was just the norm of how people lived😜
I really enjoyed this, both from thinking about how I would do this to everyday snack ideas. I keep forgetting how awesome apples and peanut butter is!
I’m so glad it was helpful. Yes, apples and peanut butter is a staple in my life😛
Thanks for the detailed link description of all the food. I really like this poshi vegetable snacks. So nice, cooked already, no cooling. Wish we could get them here.
You’re welcome. I usually just buy them at the store, but I knew some of you would be interested in finding them. I live the Poshi snacks. They are a little expensive but we’ll worth it!
I love how simple and healthy everything is! Plus you make it look so delicious with all your artistic plating :) and that you can sneak some potato chips in there, mmmmm!!!!
Hehehe gotta have those potato chips sometimes😉
Everything looks yummy and healthy. Your food is keeping you healthy and beautiful🥰
Thank you Tanya! It is yummy☺️
I just like her simplicity , I always learn something from her
Thank you Yesenia! ♥️🐞♥️
WOW! Thanks so much for sharing and video! Amazing what you have done without a fridge! All the BEST to you and safe travels! Cheers :)
Hi Marty!!! Thanks for stopping by. Always a pleasure ♥️🐞♥️
Dee I’m so obsessed with your channel now!! Especially since the pandemic, this has been a real taste of fresh air! Thank you! I’ll endeavour to do this at some point after I move to Holland, from London UK soon. Much love from London! 🤩
Thank you so much for your encouraging words. I’m glad you enjoy the channel☺️
I just bought that pan a week ago. I love it Its carbon steel and lightly cast, which is better for conserving fuel. Heats up fast, cools fast. You are right. Its got a flat bottom just large enough to make 6 or 7 inch tortillas but its high sided, essentially a mini wok. Its fabulous for stir frying! Can cook a grilled cheese in it too. Low flame for eggs. I enjoy your videos so much. You are a master of small spaces. I may reconfigure my TC with the cross bench bed. I have a gaucho style bunk the long way but its cramped sitting. I was doing a lot of carpentry at the time and wanted space for long boards, but I think its time for a shape shift! Safe travels Lady Bug. Best. Charles.
Thanks Charles! Sounds like you have a great set up! 🐞🚗💃🏻
Those meals look good and very healthy! Good job with the no refrigeration thing!
Thank you Dawn! I enjoy them and they are easy to prepare too. So double goodness😛
Thanks for this Dee.
We have different sensitivities, but I know I can work through mine - again.
I’m supposed to avoid wheat, sugar, and dairy. I also stay away from soy.
Yes, Kim! You can do it 💪🏼 I know it sucks sometimes when it feels like all you can think of is what you CAN’T have. But then, one day you have fun realizing all the things you CAN♥️🐞♥️
I loved watching your video!
I love nature! I enjoyed the healthy food that you eat!
I worked as a park ranger one summer in a low liner trailer! I loved it!
That would be fun to work as a park ranger. I’ve often thought I’d give it a try at some point😝
What a great video and so helpful and needed!!
Thank you Carol! We have to do a food collab one day☺️
Hi! Great video! Thank you for sharing your food meals. You have a very simple set up which I like and that can be accomplished inexpensively. Have a wonderful day!
Thank you for the encouragement! 🐞🚗💃🏻
Great video, Dee! I love van life! One can eat as good and healthy living in a van. I do have a small 20 liter fridge and a 50 quart cooler which serve as a seat and a bedside table respectively. I prefer to cook outside after setting up a shelter above the sliding door. My favorite salads come from Trader Joe's. I cook mostly oriental meals with bok choi, sprouts, sea food or chicken and add siracha and/or chili paste for a kicker. I love to experiment, too, and have made some surprisingly delicious 😋 meals. Van life doesn't have to be boring 😴 like some house dwellers think it would be. I love your zeal and your wonderful attitude.
Those meals sound delicious! Trader Joe’s is awesome. Yes, I agree… it does not have to be boring!🐞🚗💃🏻
Thank you so much for the vids, you inspired me to save up for a transit connect. I am a mechanic who used to work on them, but you sure know how to hook one up in comfort. I will take a page from your book.
You are welcome! A transit connect will be perfect for you, then. It is really the best of both worlds-small enough to get all the benefits of maneuverability and great gas mileage and yet large enough to make a comfortable home on wheels (especially for one person). I love it ♥️🐞♥️
Ty so very much for sharing your days with all of us. I really have enjoyed myself. 💐
Im so glad you are enjoying the channel☺️🐞🚗💃🏻
Look forward to your weekly videos. Never disappointed.

Wow great video Dee, Such healthy food! such a healthy women in such a beautiful landscape place that complement each other! O' to paint the landscape you make me jealous! It looked fairly windy with your flowing hair blowing in the breeze. What a wonderful life!!! best wishes Ken xxx
Thank you Ken! There is so much beauty in this world. I am grateful for the chance to explore it and enjoy it♥️🐞♥️
First of all, fabulous video and you have an incredible knack for not spilling coffee grounds and food all over the place.
😂😂😂😂 I just don’t film those bits lol!!! Actually, I have found that as I slow down, I am much more mindful and careful and have less spills like that. I also have my trusty little 12v vacuum for the occasional mishaps 😝
This makes me feel my whole approach to food is too complicated, vanlifer or not. Thanks for the inspiration!
It is interesting what we get used to. And compared to simpler times, I, too, think we tend to over complicate things. 😊
I am so glad I stumbled across your video watching Bunny. I try to eat organic and healthy as possible. I will be starting my full time van life in Summer and this is quite helpful in regards to eating healthy without a fridge. Plus you are so nice!!
So glad it is helpful to you! See you down the road🐞🚗💃🏻
Excellent video Dee. Totally relate to your eating choices. It’s quite a surprise to get off the refrigerator system need! It’s quite empowering to wander out into my garden with two slices of bread and pick beans, lettuce, peas, tomatoes, parsley, spinach or whatever and make a sandwich! Different I suppose to you for sure but the same outcome. Glad you like your coffee Dee we can be great mates now!!!😁😁😁😁.
As usual another inspirational CZcams from LadyBugout!👍👍👍. Stay well, travel safe, take care Dee.
Thank you Maurice! Sounds divine. Hahaha yep, gotta have that coffee. My kids tease me that I feature coffee more than I feature my van in my videos😛 I do love it though. Everything about it-the ritual, the smell, the taste-☕️ ahhhh!
Love that I’ve found you ♥️♥️♥️. You’ve found your niche …. Thank you for sharing your knowledge and joy !!!! Binge watching👏🏻
Thank you Deborah! Glad you are enjoying the channel. Welcome🐞💃🏻🚗
I used to eat similarly to you. I stayed really fit back then. Thank you for sharing.
You are welcome! I’m curious, why did you stop eating like that?
I'm in my 2010 transit connect 80' from the Gulf of Mexico in Key West. Thanks for more great advice. Don't wait until your van is perfect, just go. Those were pearls.
Thank you Abbey Jane! I’m glad you liked my advice☺️ Maybe we’ll cross paths one day! ♥️🐞♥️
Thank You for the awesome 😎 food advice without refrigeration . Awesome 👍 your van redesign with new logos look awesome 👍 🎀
Hey there Mark! Thank you again ☺️☺️☺️
Great suggestions! I eat same foods at home but need refrigeration. Now I can find these items for my road trip! As always your videos are so enjoyable to watch and I learn things to use on my journey. Thank you❤
Glad you enjoyed the video☺️
As a lifetime backpacker, I too am used to living well without refrigeration; that said, I find that living in my SUV with my cat, a small fridge is necessary.
I power it with the smallest Jackery (167W) and charge it while driving or with a small, portable, solar panel (60W). So far, so good. I really like being able to store leftovers, have fresh produce and cold drinks.
That is awesome! Sounds like the perfect set up☺️
Dear @Hope Springs A-Turtle. 🔥🔥Love your name 💓😍
KT 💙
@Anonymous Person So far, so good. I have the BougeRV 24qt., powered by a Jackery 160 (167w) when I’m not driving. No issues in 5.3 months. I recharge the Jackery with a 60w solar panel or driving.
Thank goodness my cat ashews wet food, dry for her.

Brilliant video amazing how healthy you can eat without a fridge, thanks for sharing x 👍
Thank you! Yes I feel like we get accustomed to having one that we forget that many of our foods don’t really need to be refrigerated.☺️
This is really good information, thanks. We're on the same wavelength for eating but got it figured out alot more than me.
Thank you, Steve. I sure you have a lot figured out🐞
Clean eating! And the tajín is a favorite for us too! You're awesome, sending you some 🏴☠️ love.
Oh yeah, 😎Tajín is my jam! Thanks for the pirate love♥️🐞♥️

I added those poshi veggies to my list .. i like eating as simple & healthy as i can w/very little cooking. My cooking usually is in a mini rice cooker. My tea is cold brew, no 8 hrs necessary either. Salmon, tuna (wildcaught) & mayo packets are great also. Again no refrigeration needed. I still need my vehicle but i like to live as simply & portable as possible, while being esthetic. I do own a sm portable fridge/freezer combo w/ 1000 w. jackery & a 240. I have a zero filtration pitcher & a lifestraw. And many other portable things that i use.
Also added that amylu chicken. I like that brand of kettle chips also, only in bbq. However, i don't eat them very often, bc i feel quite dehydrated afterwards, but very yummy.
Sounds like a great set up. And sounds yummy 😋
Dollar tree has mini rubber spatulas. Perfect as a camp kitchen tool.
Once again, a happy , useful video.
Nice! I found one at Walmart. I always forget about the dollar store. I’m excited to use the thing😛
Thanks for the tips! My husband and I want to do "Van" life in my Rav4 and without a refrigerator, so this is a good stepping stone.
That’s awesome. Glad it was helpful!
Thank you for sharing these healthful meal ideas. I love the Ripple and Orgain for a protein boost as well! I’m encouraged to see I don’t have to spend thousands on solar set up to do Van life. Safe travels and good health this year!
Thank you. Glad it encourages you☺️
Awesome ideas for non-refrigerated foods. I also have a Transit, with a very small frig (no room, lol). Thank you, Lady :)
You are welcome! Glad you enjoyed☺️
impressive - and love the new ideas. I have a corn allergy and agree that it is tricky although better than years past to find things without corn ingredients. Thanks for the tips and tiicks.
It definitely is easier! I have no complaints, it has taught me to be mindful of what I eat💃🏻😊💪🏼
Great job with the food!! I also have many dietary restrictions so this was very interesting and gave me some great ideas!!!
Glad it gave you some good ideas!
Great video! I have issues with tummy also and severely lactose intolerant so i absolutely can relate!!!
Oh my! Yeah, it’s the worst to not have your gut functioning well. I am so grateful to have found a diet that works well for me. I feel healthier than I ever have been and have no gut issues for years now. Keep experimenting and seeing what works. I worked for years to find a solution (and had help from nutritional experts). But it was well worth figuring it all out☺️
It really helps to move to cooler climate in the summer so food stays fresh longer. I never use a frig, only insulated bag. I did get very sick once so gotta be careful
Yes it does! Oh wow, I will be careful. Thank you for the warning☺️
I have a very small pressure cooker. I make beans & soup in it. Makes about two meals for one person. I always put left overs in open mouth thermos. Always still good next day for lunch.
That sounds yummy! Yes, I have a small thermos that I use for the same purpose occasionally ♥️🐞♥️
Love this !

I love the Orgain shakes. Couldn't find the prepaired ones so have the Orgain powdered mix for backup. But the prepaired shakes are so easy to take with, I will continue to get those! :) Thank you again for sharing your adventures!
Thank you! The strawberry ones are my favorite 😛 I agree, they are so easy to take along. And they’re like a healthy treat☺️

Glad you enjoyed it!
Great information Dee! You don't need refrigeration to eat good. But I love my soda and meat once in a while!😁 So I need a little of refrigeration here and there.
I hear ya😛 I just go out and get it fresh for the times I want meat or I go to a restaurant! I don’t drink soda, but I do like the occasional bubbly water. Again, I just buy them cold somewhere if I’m feeling like it. Cold rivers work well to cool down beverages-like a built in refrigerator nature has for us☺️
Hope all is going well for you! Enjoy holiday weekend and stay safe!
Thank you Vicki! You have a great holiday weekend too♥️🐞♥️
It’s so much easier when you’re just doing it for one person: yourself! 😉 LOL
I too have digestive issues from a chronic disease but have mostly stabilized it with an organic (as much as possible), whole foods, mainly plant-based diet. I eat well but obviously far too much compared to you! I think I’d be constantly hungry without my oatmeal/berries/walnuts/hemp/chia breakfast, bean and whole grain/veggie lunch, and big supper like a tofu/veggie/rice or quinoa stir fry. Yikes! I know this post is about a no refrigeration meal plan but your meagre meals stand out! How do you do it?!
Thanks!
Yes, I agree it is much easier with just one person. I actually feel like I eat a lot 😝. The greens and veggies are filling. And rice, quinoa, and beans. There are other things that didn’t make the final editing cut because it was getting too long. I was concentrating on the meals part for sure, but if I’m hungry I’ll snack on a protein bar or nuts or crackers (I like oatmeal also) as it gets colder my diet changes as well. 😂 Hope it didn’t look too meager. I’ll have to do a follow up to set the record straight😛
@@LadyBugout Thanks for the reply. Yes, I’m from Ontario, Canada and it’s cold already with winter just around the corner. ❄️ Still, I see that I’m eating too much even if it is good food; you are an inspiration to make some changes. 😊
Fabulous. Great healthy food. Looks delicious!
It is delicious too🤗
thanks for mentioning where you're at 🐞💙
Thank you for creating this video. I use to eat like this but I ended up with some nutritional deficiencies so now I eat like this, with the addition of more protein and supplements. Premier protein is life. LOL.
It's good to see I don't have to have a fridge to keep my veggies from wilting. I have one now in my SUV but it takes up so much room that I'm researching how people do it without a fridge. I would love more space for my art and craft supplies. Thanks again!
Yes. I add more protein when I can for sure. I am planning to do a whole video on the food storage without a fridge-a little more detailed and with some new things that help keep food fresh. I think you’ll like it-Probably end of this month or early next!!!
Loved this. I also have a ton of food allergies & sensitivities: egg whites, soy, grains, some cheeses, dairy, nightshade, spinach, sugar, hfcs, corn, kiwi, white potatoes, papaya, etc etc etc. I also love Ordain products, Paleo Valley bars, raw nuts, raw carrots & celery with almond or cashew butters or Avocado. I traveled this past summer with a cooler full of such foods & ate most of my meals out of that cooler with little or no ice & no cooking source.
That is amazing! Yes, it is interesting how much is available to eat that does not require refrigeration. I think we just get used to thinking about food a certain way and forget that refrigeration is a fairly recent thing😛 For centuries, people knew how to keep food without it☺️
You eat few meals and very little food, but it’s super healthy. Am down to two meals a day myself, and I feel so much better. It’s way healthier. I like your simple pretty set up. Thank you for sharing, and letting us into your life.
Yes, I have found nutritional meals give you what you need. I think we tend to eat way more than we need when we are not eating well😝
Your videos are Awesome!!! I greatly enjoy your very simple way of explaining everything and sharing about your van life and experiences! I always smile and laugh at the funny things you say and do as well😀 Praise God... God Bless You!

Thank you. I’m glad you enjoyed it♥️🐞♥️
I only carry frozen water bottles from home in my ice chest. I love my cold drinks. I never put ice in (when I can avoid it), it makes a mess of the other groceries. Those chicken sausages look good - precooked. I carry some pouches of tuna and chicken breast. I could live on peanut butter and jelly and be pretty happy, except I forget the jelly!
Hi Linda! That’s a great idea. When I really want ice, I just fill up a little thermos I have when I fill up my gas tank. It’ll satisfy my need for a cold drink for a little bit. I have gotten used to not having it so I just look at is as a treat when I do have it😛
Hi again DEE
Good to see you as always. I had been wondering how you managed the eating and food storage part so thx for this interesting vid.
Basically I eat the same way as you much for the same reason of simplicity.
However good to see you do change it up with the salmon sausage and protein drink. I also use some canned and others as I have no food allergies. Enjoy your combinations!
Thx as always for sharing. Really enjoy going on walks with you in all the beautiful locations you always seem to find!
Stay safe and keep on enjoying each day. After living where you were for such a long time you became a pro!
Catcha next time...
Hi C C! I’m so glad you found It helpful. I learned a lot through living very simply for so long. I feel a lot of joy being able to bring back that simplicity to my life in this way. I can’t even explain it… but I imagine you understand♥️🐞♥️
You sweet precious sister 💗. Love your videos. I am looking forward to plunging into this lifestyle. I lived in Kenya with the Samburu in the bush and when you mentioned your time in Bolivia it definitely made a connection for me. Learned a great deal from my brothers and sisters there that will be a great resource on the road. God's speed and angels wings protect and keep you. Blessings 🐞
Thank you Jocelyn. I’m glad you enjoy and relate to it.
Good ideas, will be nomading come early fall. No electric, fridge.... has to be very basic due to funds, will miss cold drinking water. Don't want electric, worry about EMF's in small area. Thanks for tips. 🙂
Glad you find the tips useful. One of the reasons I use that metal water container is to keep water cool. You’d be surprised how much the little evaporative effect it has cools the temp of the water. I got it a IKEA (the one that sits under my electric water faucet on the cabinet)…
Thanks again Dee for posting the food you get off Amazon
