The difference in scores between Geekbench and Antutu (iPhone winning in CPU in one but losing in the other) is because the testing done in Geekbench is similar between the iOS and Android versions, and thus more relevant (as relevant as synthetic benchmarks can get, which is not a lot). While Antutu's tests (verified and confirmed by its developer) are completely different between Android and iOS. Meaning you can compare Android vs. Android, and iOS vs. iOS, but not Android vs. iOS really.

My perspective is that mobile game cash machines proved too profitable for traditional gaming to ever be worth it for AAA developers to develop “console” experiences for mobile. And worse yet, the micro transaction model ended up poisoning consoles games too. The graphics have been up to standards for these types of games on iPhone for a decade but Apple has never pushed for iPhone to become a PSP or DS because there is no financial reason to do it. If they wanted it you’d see a first-party Apple controller. And it’s been like this forever.

    • @kninezbanks

The iphone is unique in that it shares the same architecture hardware/software wise with their mac pcs....any game ported to apple silicon macbooks can be tweaked easily to run on their entire ecosystem given the device has enough power (A17/M1).....Apple also has universal purchase like xbox smart delivery. Buy a game on your iphone, play it on your imac, mac mini, macbook pro, macbook air, ipads, even future apple TVs....Apple silicon is more tightly optimized than consoles....with apple releasing and constantly updating their "game porting toolkit" for developers to easily port their games to Arm/Metal apple devices......bringing games to iphones/ipads will be a breeze..........It's androd that's too vast in terms of hardware configurations, cheap and filled with piracy that will never get on that level.

The funny thing about the scores is it beat it on antutu when snapdragon 8 gen 2 practically came out in Jan/feb months before so I would expect and hope the iPhone beat it. But the scores on snapdragon 8 gen 3 are already higher than what the 15 is doing. I’d say if they both came out in September iphone and android with tsmc process would be about even.
