      I agree I have plenty of these type controllers and I don't buy until discount..I haven't a clue why these companies think they can charge way more than proper console controllers for a mobile controller with inferior build and tech In it . Thing would be a great impulse buy or stocking stuffed at 50$ but 100$ is a hard sell when it's no wireless, no vibration, etc etc . Overall yes I still love my backbone it's Def not comparable to a real console conteoller though

    I have the regular backbone controller for my sony xperia 1 iv android phone with a spigen case on my phone and a lanyard attached to my phone case and I have full access to all the cameras and the finger printer sensor on my phone. The only thing that is blocked is the headphone jack and usb c port. I can even take pictures from my phone with the backbone controller being attached to my phone since I have full access to the cameras and it's not being blocked. It's like the backbone controller was designed for my phone. I have the 3.5mm headphone jack splitter for my wired headphones that use the 3.5mm headphone jack and my external rode lavalier go mic that uses the 3.5mm headphone jack. I use my wired headphones and my rode lavalier go mic both at the same time from my phone at the same time from the headphone jack so that's why I use the 3.5mm headphone jack splitter. I mainly use my sennheiser hd 600 open back headphones and my backbone controller on the bus when I commute by bus. When I get bored, I have something to do and having emulators help when the internet connection drops when there are locations with spotty coverage.

    I doubt ETA is going to see this comment because I'm ten days late posting it; but, if he's reading this I'd be really interested in seeing a quick USB-C iPhone stretchy controller compatibility roundup.
    I'm especially interested in his GameSir X2 Pro because I own one too and its compatability on the Android side is spotty. Of all the USB-C Android phones I own, only one actually works with it. Happily it's the one I use for Play Store games and emulation. At least for Android; the X2 Pro requires the other device (phone or small tablet) to support USB Power Delivery 2.0 or higher in order to pair. A lot of affordable; but still quite powerful, prepaid phones skip out on that and their manufacturers generally tell no-one. I assume the new iPhone would support PD 2 or above like all recent flagship Androids do; but, Apple likes to think differently and maybe they've implemented charging in a slightly different way that breaks compatibility. I don't know; that's why I typed this wall of text.

    The longevity is one big elephant in the room here. I have the Gamsir X2 Pro controller, it uses the moving USB C port to help slide the phone in easier, but that's where the usb C ribbon cable failed in just 2 days of gaming(I did a complete teardown of the controller to see why it failed and how the telescopic desisn works. I'm looking at the Backbone at the moment since it has a rigid USB C port with no moving parts, and that is more durable.
    Maybe the Backbone would last longer, I prefer PSP, and PS2 games so the PS button is a big plus to me compared to the Xbox buttons, which many of the controllers are using right now.

      You can connect it to the iPad through the charging port, but it’s locked behind the backbone+ subscription (1 year free). It worked on my USB-C iPad, but not my lightning iPhone.
      Also, if you get an older unit, you’ll need an android device to update the firmware (an android VM on windows worked for me).

      Yes if you want to open it up and modify it. This controller isn't natively designed to be used with tablets unless you run it with a cable (Not really an option since we can already do that with better controllers like an Xbox controller). Also, not everyone has an ipad mini. I'm asking for a controller that can fit most 10in tablets. @@jakejat2

    I had recently bought both the Razer Kishi V2 and the Backbone One with USBC and ended up sending both back. I tried the Razer first and the firmware on it did not recognize the iPhone 15 Pro Max at all. You need an Android phone to update it and I don't have one. Plus the third camera bump rested on the back part causing it to be a little crooked and I didn't like that. Could wear out the connector of the phone over time.
    From what I could tell at the time, the Backbone would have had the same issue with it sitting crooked from that camera bump so I never even opened it.
    So now I am using a clip for both an Xbox and PS5 controller. This is a cheaper method and gives you some of the best controls possible. The only thing missing I guess would be the fancy UI and touch screen mapping.

    • @plows2940
      @plows2940 Před 8 měsíci

      At least with the Backbone you aren’t missing out on the ‘Fancy UI’ as the greedy bastards put that behind a $50 annual subscription. Literally ruining one of the main appeals of their product.
