      Thank you!!! I’m really loving all the color and texture this year! And it’s made me want to start even more of my own seeds next year because that’s really given me more of the abundance that I’m always craving in the garden! Yay for seeds!!!

    Good morning. That frog!🥰 I had to pause the video so I could add Hollyhocks to my list of plants I want on my phone! Your Hollyhock is so gorgeous!
    I am so excited to receive the seeds. Thank you so much for collecting some for me. 🥰
    My fennel did not grow well from seeds. I'll have to go purchase some. I do have milkweed and parsley that came back this year.
    Have a wonderful Memorial Day. 🇺🇲

      Hey, Tammy! Wasn’t that frog so cute?!?!? Oh! I really hope those coral nymph salvia seeds grow for you!!! They are so fun in the garden! The honeybees adore them! And those pink ballet slipper flowers that they have are so sweet! - I’m very thankful to be able to have grown that Zebrina hollyhock! I’m going to try to save seeds from it, too!

    Okay this week the Zebrina hollyhock blew my sandals off😍🤩😎 such beauty! The density of your fennel plants are probably why the cats can live successfully in the garden. I’m trying to get Florence and bronze fennels to fill in like yours but they’re struggling with high 90 degree temperatures. I had an eastern swallowtail lay eggs on dill which was bolting because of the heat 😂 at least the cats had alternative choices to get them through and they’re pupating now. Thanks for sharing your garden have a blessed week 🌺

    • @gulfcoastbutterflygardening
      @gulfcoastbutterflygardening  Před měsícem

      Isn’t that zebrina the bomb?!? I have several in pots that are too small and they need a lot of water. Next year I hope I will remember that they need bigger pots! - Oh! That fennel that I found the swallowtails on has been growing in that pot for at least 3 to 4 years. It gets eaten done and then frozen down to nothing, and I always think that is the last I have seen of it and then BAM, it gets right back up again. I wish I knew what kind it is because it doesn’t taste like my other fennel. I don’t think it is Florence fennel. I’ll have to show you the base of it tomorrow! - I’m glad that you have options for your caterpillars!!! They love having choices! They toyed with me for many years. Sometimes they would lay eggs on the curled leaf parsley and sometimes the dill and sometimes the fennel. Finally, I was like, “Listen, y’all! I don’t want to grow dill and parsley if you’re not going to use it all of the time. From now on you get fennel or nothing.” And now they lay eggs on the wild parsley that I am not growing. It’s just volunteering. And they lay on the fennel. LOL!

    So very beautiful, full & lush! I’m loving your bright pink Cleome. I need some! Everything here in GA seems to be in full bloom & Im loving it. Just trying to stay on top of the watering, trimming & weeds. I’ve only seen one hummingbird so far & last night saw some lightning bugs.
    More pots? lol Do we ever have enough? Nope. Have a wonderful Memorial Day weekend. Hugs from GA❤

      Yay, Linda!!! I’m so glad that you saw lightning bugs!!!!!!! I gotta go outside in a few minutes at dusk and see if I can see some. I haven’t gone out to specifically look for them. - Yeah, I always forget that this is the time of year when things hit their peak and then once that tipping point is reached things start it turn into a scraggly mess real quick. It’s the time of year that I start to regret the choices that I have made. LOL!!!!! - I hope that you’ve gotten rain this week! If so, at least that is one less thing!

    I can’t wait to see how your new plants behave so we can see how big they get! Your back yard really is an explosion of beauty!! That zabrina (sp?) hollyhock blew my mind, I’ve never seen that before! I’m loving your floral hedge of protection, it is really filling in! Oh man about those wasps, they are so horrible! I am live in your seed thrown god given garden!! That’s my favorite kind of garden! Those doves are so adorable hanging out in the bird bath! I just love seeing you be a butterfly mama and release your baby butterflies 🦋 and seeing all those caterpillars just doing their thing in nature is such a joy! And that little frog just hanging out!! I love how pearly those millet look! I’ve enjoyed your garden show from the very beginning to the very end!!!

    The Hairstreak was beautiful! I adore the pink vinca - must get some for me to enjoy. I can't believe the millet is doing so wonderful while still in that tiny pot! It is such a deep beautiful addition to the garden - like purple pillars of plentitude. They are like a huge rock placed in the garden - just perfect for your colors. You must have gotten up early to make this video and I really appreciate watching your hard work grow and thrive. I also love how you have named the different neighborhoods growing in special little spots all over. They are certainly having a wonderful block party! LOL I went crazy and started a bunch of elderberry from cuttings and they are 7-8 foot tall now and NEVER eaten by deer. I've heard that the berries are toxic until they are cooked/heated/jellied and the deer must know that. They keep eating my comfrey to the ground which is planted under the elderberry. What was that wasp eating? Gross! I've never tried hollyhocks but your gorgeous Zebrina plant has me 'wanting'. What gardener have you ever known that didn't adore the apple blossom snapdragon? I don't think they exist. While walking under the arch towards the fountain - what is that spikey silver low growing circle of wonder? I do love that for it's color and texture. For being small, it certainly can steal the show, once seen. You could take pictures of all your areas and make a Where's Waldo book to sell - I would sure buy one. Better than solitare.The closing shot of the bird bath and dove was SO beautiful - you have filled my morning with joy. THANK YOU!

    • @gulfcoastbutterflygardening
      @gulfcoastbutterflygardening  Před měsícem

      Oh, Mary! You are the sweetest and so poetic!!! I love how you called the millet “purple pillars of plentitude!” You have nailed it with your description! And the millet has totally escaped the pot through the bottom and has rooted into place, as have many of the plants. It seems like their first objective, even before growing up, is to escape the pot by any means necessary. LOL! - Oh! That is so cool that you have made tons of elderberry cuttings!!! I want to have a forest of elderberry! What is your trick to making cuttings? And every year I mean to grow comfrey (because I really want to make comfrey tea), but then I don’t. I’ve gotta do it next year! - Oh! I wasn’t sure of what the wasp was eating. I wondered if maybe it was a caterpillar. I hoped that it was an army worm caterpillar. That’s what wasps SHOULD be eating. Haha! - Isn’t that grass a beauty?!? It’s cold as ice blue fescue. I’ve never grown it before, but now it’s on my favorite list! - LOL about the “block party.” You ARE a hoot!!! - I’m so thankful for you, Mary!!! YOU make me feel like a rockstar gardener! Thank you so much for all of your kindness and enthusiasm and encouragement!!! It means EVERYTHING! God bless you AND your garden!!! 💕🙏🏻🌻🌸🪴🌞

      @@gulfcoastbutterflygardening Elderberry is the simplest thing to provide you confidence in gardening. Just cut a little branch just below a node. Clip off the leaves and the next two leaves then leave one more set of leaves to get energy from the sun clipping off the rest of the stem. Then stick it into the ground covering the bottom and next bare node with soil (in the shade) and keep damp until you see new growth. Won't take long. I never thought to try it with the confederate jasmine but finally, clipped some spent bloom stems and did the same treatment. Two days ago, they went into a jar of well water and today they have teeny, tiny white nodes developing along the stem. AMAZING how God provides the will to live in the creations he made. I've learned my lesson - just try anything. and see what happens. LOL
